Winter season update | Mise a jour saison d’hiver

Hello FPF community, we hope everyone is holding up.

The last time we heard from the provincial government regarding the status of team sports in our province, we were given a date of January 11^th as the very earliest possible re-opening. Based on initial reports, it is quite certain that team sports are not expected back anytime in January.

Our original stance was to delay the season until early February, and at that point, if we were still unable to play- we would cancel and focus on a hopeful Spring season.

We’ve since modified our strategy and will now be taking on a more wait and see approach instead of cancelling without flexibility.

Some teams have already registered for the Winter season and are simply waiting for us to get the green light, and get started as quickly as possible. We appreciate your excitement and will be sure to get you back on the field as soon as possible, once we have permission to play.

Other teams who may be interested in playing, prefer to hold off before signing up. Opting to wait until some sort of timetable is given by the government. We understand that philosophy and respect the decision.

So where does that leave us? As of right now, we have no idea if or when we’ll be able to play this coming Winter. What we will do is continue to keep our finger on the pulse, and if/once the government gives a specific date where we can resume activities, we’ll do the following:

Confirm the start and end dates to the modified Winter season; as well as the confirmed locations should anything change from the original options.
Offer a one-week registration extension for all the divisions that are not yet at capacity, allowing teams who did not previously register to still take part.
Finalize the divisions, and build the schedule.
Start the season, and ensure the same safe and secure environment for our members that we did in the 2020 FPF Cup.

The goal is to ensure we waste as little time as possible between the date we are permitted to resume, and the actual start date.

If we do progress into late February, and then March with still no official date given, we will eventually have a cut-off where we will cancel the Winter and move our focus towards a Spring season, possibly starting earlier than usual if we never start the Winter season.

As we communicated to the registered captains in an email yesterday, if at any point throughout the ‘wait and see’ period a registered team loses faith or changes their mind on wanting to play this Winter, they can simply contact us and we’ll immediately comply and issue their refund.

A reminder once again that a cancelled Winter season will result in a full refund of all paid deposits.

La dernière fois que nous avons entendu le gouvernement provincial parler de la situation des sports d’équipe dans notre province, la date du 11 janvier nous a été donnée comme la réouverture la plus précoce possible. Sur la base des rapports initiaux, il est presque certain que les sports collectifs ne revenont en janvier.

Notre position initiale était de retarder la saison jusqu’au début février, et à ce moment-là, si nous étions toujours incapables de jouer, nous annulerions et nous concentrerions sur une saison printanière pleine d’espoir.

Nous avons depuis modifié notre stratégie et allons désormais adopter une approche plus attentiste au lieu d’annuler sans flexibilité.

Beaucoup d’équipes se sont déjà inscrites pour la saison d’hiver et attendent simplement que nous obtenions le feu vert et que nous nous lancions le plus rapidement possible. Nous apprécions votre enthousiasme et ne manquerons pas de vous ramener sur le terrain dès que possible, une fois que nous aurons la permission de jouer.

Autres équipes qui pourraient être intéressées à jouer préfèrent attendre avant de s’inscrire. Choisir d’attendre qu’une sorte d’idée soit donné par le gouvernement concernant le reouverture. Nous comprenons cette philosophie et respectons la décision.

Alors, où en sommes-nous? Pour le moment, nous ne savons pas si ou quand nous pourrons jouer cet hiver. Ce que nous ferons, c’est continuer continuez à rester informé le mieux possible, et si / une fois que le gouvernement donne une date précise à laquelle nous pouvons reprendre les activités, nous ferons ce qui suit:

Confirmer les dates de début et de fin de la saison d’hiver modifiée; ainsi que les emplacements confirmés si quelque chose change par rapport aux options d’origine.
Offrir une prolongation d’inscription d’une semaine pour toutes les divisions qui ne sont pas encore à pleine capacité, permettant aux équipes qui ne se sont pas encore inscrites de participer.
Finalisez les divisions et établissez le calendrier.
Commencez la saison et assurez le même environnement sûr et sécurisé pour nos membres que nous l’avons fait lors de la Coupe FPF 2020.

L’objectif est de faire en sorte que nous perdions le moins de temps possible entre la date à laquelle nous sommes autorisés à reprendre et la date de début réelle.

Si nous progressons vers la fin février, puis mars sans de date officielle, nous aurons finalement une date limite où nous annulerons l’hiver et nous concentrerons sur une saison printanière, commençant peut-être plus tôt que d’habitude si nous ne commençons jamais la saison d’hiver.

Comme nous l’avons communiqué aux capitaines inscrits dans un e-mail hier, si à un moment quelconque de la période d’attente, une équipe inscrite perd la foi ou change d’avis sur le fait de vouloir jouer cet hiver, ils peuvent simplement nous contacter et nous allons immédiatement se conformer et émettre leur remboursement.

Une saison d’hiver annulée entraînera un remboursement complet de tous les dépôts payés
