Tier 4 Week 5: Power Rankings Undergoing Major Changes
Les Flagouilleurs are contenders
In an electrifying display, Les Flagouilleurs steamrolled Impact 57-14 in their week 5 matchup. Les Flagouilleurs dominated from start to finish, with quarterback Alex Poitras delivering a stellar performance, throwing for 135 yards and an incredible 7 touchdowns without a single interception. His brother, Andrew Poitras, was unstoppable, hauling in 3 touchdowns and 77 yards, while Lucas Quenneville matched him with 3 scores of his own. On defence, Gabriel Wiseman was the heart of Les Flagouilleurs’ suffocating effort, racking up 3 interceptions, 2 sacks, and even scoring a touchdown—easily earning MVP honours. This game showed the depth and dominance of Les Flagouilleurs, who appear poised for a deep run. Though their 2-4 record may not reflect it, Les Flagouilleurs are a team full of talent, with their losses coming in close games decided by just a few points. If they can tighten up defensively, this team could easily break into the top 5 in the power rankings and become a serious contender.
Ball So Hard University crushed Vidanges FFC 51-12
Vincent Rousseau was the star of the game, throwing for 165 yards and 5 touchdowns while adding 103 rushing yards and 2 scores on the ground. Rousseau spread the ball around efficiently, with Roovany Ferus leading the way, racking up 65 yards and a touchdown, alongside standout contributions from Keven Cybere and Vicardi Vieux, who both found the end zone as well. On defence, Ball So Hard was relentless, with Roovany Ferus and Darcy Jeannis both grabbing interceptions, and Ferus even returning one for a touchdown. Vidanges FFC struggled to find rhythm offensively, as quarterback Guillaume Lavoie threw for just 68 yards and 2 touchdowns but was picked off 4 times, stifling any momentum. Despite a strong effort from Tristan Desautels, who had 42 receiving yards and a score, Vidanges FFC was shut out in the second half, unable to keep pace with Ball So Hard University’s high-powered offence. With this dominant win, Ball So Hard University continues to cement their status and is moving up the power rankings quickly.
Black Shinobi 2 vs Bum City
Black Shinobi 2 triumphed over Bum City with a 32-6 victory in Tier 4 action. Jeff Gay led the charge, throwing for 132 yards and 5 touchdowns, showcasing his efficiency. Paul Jr. Barreau was the standout receiver, hauling in 3 touchdowns on 3 catches, despite only 13 receiving yards, while Samuel Omombo and Karim Madji also found the end zone. On the defensive side, Samuel Omombo notched two interceptions, while Nathaniel Dinku contributed solidly with 4 tackles and a sack. Bum City struggled to get their offence going, with quarterback Nathan Vezina throwing for just 87 yards and a single touchdown to David Ringuet, who was a bright spot with 54 receiving yards. Defensively, Ian Alexis and Bernard Valciné Jr. worked hard with 5 tackles each, but their efforts weren’t enough to slow down the attack from Black Shinobi 2, who surged with 25 second-half points to secure the comfortable win.
Gooners win a tight matchup against Hard Knocks
In an intense Tier 4 matchup, the Gooners claimed a 38-27 victory over Hard Knocks. The Gooners exploded out of the gate, putting up 26 points in the first half and maintaining their lead throughout. Although their quarterback didn’t have a jersey and couldn’t log stats, the rest of the team shined, with Ethan Cohen leading the charge, recording 82 yards and 2 touchdowns on 5 receptions. Juwan Edghill also had a strong showing with 53 receiving yards, 1 touchdown, and made plays on both sides of the ball, contributing 3 tackles and a pass deflection. Oliver Velan showcased his versatility, catching 4 passes for 31 yards and a touchdown, while also snagging two crucial interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
Hard Knocks kept things competitive, led by DonnDre Borden, who threw for 120 yards and 3 touchdowns while also rushing for 18 yards on one running attempt. Brandon Amaral and Keenan Dezeeuw-Caruth made key receptions, each finding the end zone, but despite their efforts, the Gooners’ aggressive first half and tight defence were too much to overcome. Hard Knocks showed flashes of brilliance, particularly with three interceptions as a team, but ultimately fell short in the second half, managing only 7 points. This victory gives the Gooners a strong momentum heading forward in the season.
