Tier 2: Top 5 Power Rankings Debut, News, and Carson Beck Disappoints.

The midway point of the Fall Season is just around the corner, and with it, some teams have already started rounding into form, while others are still trying to find chemistry, timing, the right plays, or in some cases players.

Those teams who fall into the former category are the top teams in Tier 2. Due to that, I am releasing my first top 5 power ranking.

Question Period

Will Arouch forfeit another game? Seemingly every year, there is always at least one team who forfeits one or multiple games. We are only Week 3, but it has happened already, as Arouch forfeited their game versus the Rico Ryders last Sunday in Chateauguay.

Not being able to make a game is one thing, but to not let your opponent or the league know ahead of time is annoying. People have things to do, players, staff, and referees included. Driving down to Chateauguay on a Sunday afternoon for nothing, especially during the NFL season, is no fun. Hopefully it was a one-time thing.

Is James Drysdale the best Receiver in Tier 2? There are definitely some strong candidates in players like Rémi Légo, Rory Semerjian, Jeanslee Alexis, Manu Allard-Roy, Andrew Grant, Jean-Felix Daloze, and Rhami Aboud among many others.

My answer is yes, as Drysdale attracts the other team’s best Corner Back and still puts up yards and make plays consistently. If that weren’t enough, his one-handed grab in the air in the back of the endzone on an extra point Thursday night against Jagerbomb, might have proved he also has the best hands in al of FPF. If all of that weren’t enough, he also represents team Canada internationally. You have to imagine if he stays healthy and motivated, he will be part of our country’s Olympic team in 2028.

I don’t write the articles to hear and see my opinion on topics like this. What is your answer to the question?

Usually in Division 6 or E, we get several Quarterbacks who love to run. Some of them can function as a thrower, but most rely on their athleticism until they get comfortable as passers and develop a playbook that works.

As FPF and football in general has evolved, we have seen a shift from pocket QBs to passers that can make plays with both their arms and legs. This leads me to the question of who is the best scrambling Quarterback in Tier 2? At the beginning of the season, I would have said the Vultures Ben McMahon without a shadow of a doubt. Having played against both Beer Belly Brigade, and Shake & Bake, I am not so sure of my answer anymore.

Marc-Andre Reeves and Alex Fafard can give McMahon, or anyone for that matter a run for their money both figuratively and literally. Although he hasn’t done it often this so far this season, Ryan Kharouf of Never Overtime, has some Josh Allen-esque wheels to go along with a cannon for an arm.

Quarterbacks Jason Reyes and Will Power has shredded defenses with their feet over the years, while Sean Semerjian, Jules Regimbald, and Jared Buck are more than capable of doing damage on the ground as well.

I am going with Fafard. You know it’s coming, but you still can’t stop it. Who do you guys pick?

Is this the week we see some upsets? There are some prime candidates as the Rico Ryders take on The Infantry, Les Monsieurs Chats go head-to-head with Kiss My Outlaws, and Shake & Bake face the Beer Belly Brigade.

The league is always better when we see underdogs pull off upset wins. Let’s see if we get some this week.

This is a non FPF question, but am I the only one who watched the Alabama versus Georgia game tonight thinking that Carson Beck is absolutely not the best Quarterback in the NCAA, and shouldn’t be in consideration for the first overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft? Credit to him and the Georgia Bulldogs for taking the lead late, as it looked Bama was going to roll early, but Beck had a chance to put the game away on that final offensive drive, and he folded, badly.

His back-breaking interception to Zabien Brown to end the game was a horrible pass. Add that on to his two other INTs in arguably the game of the year, and there is no way he should be taken number one over the likes of Travis Hunter (I would honestly pick him first. He’s that special), Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe (tonight’s win probably put him ahead of Beck), Avery Johnson, Dillon Gabiel, or don’t sleep on him, Cam Ward.

The draft is a crapshoot, and there are still enough games left for Beck to rebound, but tonight was not a good showing, in an otherwise fantastic game that lived up to the hype.

Top 5 Power Rankings

1.Vultures (3-0)

Let’s be honest, from top to bottom, who has a better team on paper and on the field than the Vultures? When James Drysdale can be a third option for you on offense, you know you have solid depth.

Speaking of which, the addition of Felix Clairmont from the free agent combine, in tandem with picking up rookie Chris Thelasco, gives this team two impact rookies who are game changers on both sides of the ball. The rich get richer.

2. Fins Up (2-0)

The only team to knock off Shake & Bake, Will Power’s team has the perfect combination of speed and grit. Their depth is also legit, as they have interchangeable parts throughout their roster.

Beside their win over Shake & Bake, Fins Up also has a 17-point victory over Backfield Penetration under their belt.

The team’s next three games see them take on Never Overtime, Jagerbomb, and The Infantry. If Fins Up can run the table, they could end up as the top team in Tier 2.

3. Shake & Bake (3-1)

This first-year team has length, speed, size, and clutch playmakers littered throughout their lineup. Quarterback Marc-Andre Reeves has proven to be the next Ben McMahon, as his lack of height doesn’t stop him from evading the Rusher and throwing darts all over the field.

Their only loss of the season came last week versus Fins Up, in a game that came down to the wire. Shake & Bake remedied that defeat with a blowout victory over Backfield Penetration.

The first-year team appears to get better every game. That is great news for Shake & Bake, but bad for the rest of Tier 2.

4. Idaho Udapimps (3-0)

The insertion of Jules Regimbald at Quarterback has continued the dominance of the team’s offense from the summer season where they won the Division C championship. The addition of Andrew Grant and Ashton Thibeault make this team even deeper and faster on both sides of the ball.

They take on Arouch tomorrow night in Laval, and then face a tough stretch as they go up against The Infantry, Kiss My Outlaws, and Vultures. Can Idaho Udapimps stay undefeated and take over the top spot on the list?

5. The Infantry (1-1)

They came within a play of beating the Vultures, and then proceeded to shutout Kiss My Outlaws (32-0) a week later. As a result, they have the number one ranked defense in Tier 2. Even if they didn’t have the best points against, a goose egg is impressive, and can’t be ignored.

On tap is a meeting with the Rico Ryders tomorrow morning, followed by a brutal stretch that sees them play Idaho Udapimps and Fins Up, with a contest with Never Overtime sandwiched in between. Let’s see how The Infantry does.
