Tier 1 League Standings Update: Mid-Season Report

We are roughly at the halfway point of the season. Each team has demonstrated its strengths and weaknesses, and the competition has grown more intense with every passing game. Let’s take a closer look at the current standings!

1. DA Braves (4-2-0)

  • Games Played (GP): 6
  • Points For (PF): 217
  • Points Against (PA): 165
  • Points (PTS): 8
  • Point Differential (+/-): +52

DA Braves are sitting at the top of the standings with a strong 4-2 record. Their offensive output has been exceptional, leading the league with 217 points. This is a testament to their chemistry. Their ability to score quickly and efficiently has made them a scary opponent for any team. However, their defense has been a bit inconsistent, allowing 165 points, which ranks among the higher totals in the league.

If DA Braves are to hold onto their top spot and make a deep playoff run, they’ll need to tighten up on defense. Players like Jonathan Maheu and Jean-Daniel Chevalier have been key to their offensive production but the defense will likely need to show just a bit of improvement if they want to hold the trophy at the end of the season.

2. Vengeance (4-2-0)

  • Games Played (GP): 6
  • Points For (PF): 201
  • Points Against (PA): 172
  • Points (PTS): 8
  • Point Differential (+/-): +29

Tied with DA Braves at the top, Vengeance has also enjoyed a successful start to their season. They’ve scored an impressive 201 points, second to only DA Braves. They have had 3 different quarterbacks already this season, Hopefully Kevin Wyeth won’t be missing anymore games and they can find some consistency.

Vengeance’s defensive will need to improve as well. If they can get better at disrupting opposing offenses and forcing turnovers, they’ll up their chances of competing for the championship.

3. Run it Once (3-2-0)

  • Games Played (GP): 5
  • Points For (PF): 178
  • Points Against (PA): 143
  • Points (PTS): 6
  • Point Differential (+/-): +35

Currently sitting in third place with a 3-2 record, they’ve played one fewer game than the top 2 teams, giving them the potential to move up in the standings. With 178 points scored and 143 conceded, their +35 point differential is a reflection of their well-balanced team.

The offense, led by Jeff Rosenblatt, has been consistent throughout the season. He is seeing success with his new receiver Jerome Hovington, as well as longtime teammate James Drysdale. They could be dark horses in the playoff race.

4. EZW (3-2-0)

  • Games Played (GP): 5
  • Points For (PF): 160
  • Points Against (PA): 145
  • Points (PTS): 6
  • Point Differential (+/-): +15

EZW shares the same record as Run it Once but has a slightly lower point differential of +15. Their offense has been productive, putting up 160 points, their solid defense has allowed 145 points. EZW has been involved in several close games, and they’ve been able to edge out wins.

For EZW, the key to a successful second half will be finding a way to make their offense as solid as their defense. Their offense has shown flashes of brilliance, but they’ll need to  improve if they want to compete with the top teams. If they can tighten up their offense, EZW could become a serious playoff contender.

5. Blessed (3-3-0)

  • Games Played (GP): 6
  • Points For (PF): 192
  • Points Against (PA): 228
  • Points (PTS): 6
  • Point Differential (+/-): -36

Blessed has been one of the more unpredictable teams this season. Despite having one of the higher-scoring offenses in the league with 192 points, their defense has been a major liability, allowing a league-high 228 points. This has led to a point differential of -36, which is the worst among teams with three or more wins. Blessed’s ability to win games has often come down to offensive shootouts, where they’ve had to outscore their opponents rather than rely on their defense to secure victories.

For Blessed, the focus in the second half of the season will be improving their defense. They’ll need to figure out how to  force turnovers, as their inability to get stops has put too much pressure on their offense. If they can find a better balance between offense and defense, they have the talent to make a push for the playoffs.

6. KGP (2-3-0)

  • Games Played (GP): 5
  • Points For (PF): 139
  • Points Against (PA): 165
  • Points (PTS): 4
  • Point Differential (+/-): -26

KGP has had a difficult season so far, managing just two wins over five games. Their offense has struggled to keep pace with the top teams, scoring only 139 points, while their defense has allowed 165 points, resulting in a -26 point differential. While they’ve shown some potential, KGP has yet to put together multiple complete performances, and they’ll need to make significant improvements if they want to turn their season around.

7. Dzod Team (0-5-0)

  • Games Played (GP): 5
  • Points For (PF): 102
  • Points Against (PA): 171
  • Points (PTS): 0
  • Point Differential (+/-): -69

Dzod Team’s season has been nothing short of a struggle. Without a win in their first five games, they find themselves at the bottom of the standings. They’ve managed just 102 points on offense while allowing 171 points, leaving them with a point differential of -69, the worst in the league. Their defense has struggled to keep opponents in check, and their offense has been unable to put enough points on the board to stay competitive.

Dzod Team needs to do everything they can now to go undefeated the rest of the way if they want to make the playoffs.

Key Takeaways

  • DA Braves and Vengeance are the top contenders.
  • Run it Once and EZW are neck and neck in the standings, with both teams showing strong potential, but they’ll need to maintain consistency in the second half to challenge for the top spots.
  • Blessed has the offensive firepower to compete, but their defensive issues could prevent them from making a deep run.
  • KGP and Dzod Team will need to turn things around quickly if they want to climb out of the bottom of the standings.

As we head into the second half of the season, every game will be crucial in determining playoff seeding.
