The Truth: Time to step up!
The weeks fly by and we all wonder how we got here; some of you are probably content, others frown in disappointment. As your season quickly unravels before you, I’m hoping you’ve done what was needed to secure yourselves a couple wins. The worst thing you can do is let the easy ones slide through your fingers. There’s no worst situation then the one where you find yourself late in the season, starring at the schedule, trying to figure out who has to beat who, in order to give you a bit of hope of making the playoffs. Like Dana White always says, “don’t let it go to a decision”, you have to take control of your own faith. It’s now or never ladies, tomorrow isn’t promised today. It’s time to step on the pedal and never look back. Some of you have long passed the stage of stepping on the pedal and already find yourself in fourth gear. Not a bad feeling looking back at everyone through the rear view mirror is it? Don’t slip up people, there’s always a shark waiting to eat.
Quick Thoughts
– Can someone get Theo to pee in a cup please. 5 Tds in one game against Montreal’s Finest D… JESUSSSS
– Is DK’s D the best in division one?
– DK straight up annihilated Flag Moi L’sac. They are now 0-3, but that’s just not good enough. These guys are better then that and they know it. Enough sitting on deck boys it’s time to step up to the plate.
– Terror Squad is the only undefeated team in division two at 3-0. CBL is the only undefeated team in division one at 1-0-2 can you believe that?!
– Monstars: after 3 games played they average 43 points against per game. How can you possibly win games with that kind of defensive play?
– Served With Ice have 51 points against; that’s 25 less points then Chernobyl sitting at 76 points against, the nearest team.
– Kevin Wyeth is on pace for more then 60 passing touchdowns this year. This man is a serious ageless wonder. If he wins QB of the year AGAIN, we absolutely have to rename the award. Call it “The Wyeth” !
– I am honored this year to be on the list of nominees for Hall of fame. I’d like to also congratulate the four other candidates who were added this year.
– There are so little sacks going around now a day it’s insane. First place sits at four sacks after three games.
– I really wish all the division one games weren’t being played while I’m working in another dome.
– Finest is 1-3 against D-Boys in the last four games played between the two. In those four games, D-Boys average 34 points a game and Finest 31. Less then a touchdown separate division one’s top rivalry.
– Somehow, some way, I can’t help but feel bad for Damps 25/8. I begged them last week to find someone who can throw in this division. Andrew Treffeissen is obviously not comfortable in his role. 28.6 QB rating after three weeks of play, that is not an ingredient needed on any squad.
– Tony Tabet, the sleeping beauty of FPF. Who kissed the princess and woke her up? I’m thinking Eric Kavaldjian did it!
– Does any one even have any more hate for #NR any more? They had such a rough go at it through the Facebook group a couple season back. And now? Very little win, very little words.
Re-cap:
CBL 31- Got Skills31
CBL seems to favor ties against bottom tier teams. Only problem with that boys is the following: neither one of these teams are headed towards beating a top four team, so if you want to be part of week 11, these are the games you have to win. Nicola Centomo looks like he wants nothing to do with short routes. He continuously forces the ball deep to his brother that has not been getting open for him this season. Vinny Gualano needs to find his way to a better squad. Unfortunately, constantly trying to make this teamwork isn’t cutting it. The problem is simple for CBL: DEFENSE! If you’re offense isn’t going to be perfect then you need help from your defense, and I just can’t see that help coming. The only bit of diming hope for both these teams is their schedule.
Rainmakers 38 – Loonatics 45
An offensive affair; who needs defense when you can score on every drive. Paul Lapierre looks like he’s getting comfortable within this offense. If Paul wasn’t sure who Pascal Tshilambo was, I guess now they’re acquainted. What I like most about Loonatics is their efficiency at extra points, a part of the game so many teams neglect yet holds such a high value on the outcome of most game. These two teams meet again week 7. I guess at that point we can take out the measuring stick and see who’s improved.
Terror Squad 37 – Untouchables 30
This win makes Terror Squad the best team right now in division two. What Tam can’t do with his arm he does with his legs. Having a dual threat quarter back is a luxury as a receiver. When a QB can buys time with his legs, receivers find space where there might not of been if the QB had stayed in his pocket and thrown early. Kevin Laliberté’s three interceptions definitely led TS to a second half they needed after trailing by a score in the first. Jordan McLaren is currently averaging 3 TDs and 95 yards catching per game, and it’s not like he hasn’t played good defense. Although I’m not worried about Untouchables’ ability to bounce back from this game, they do have a rough schedule this year. As for TS, this was the first of many tough games they’ll have up until week 8 where their schedule dies down.
Legends 24 – Wolverines 41
I don’t know why I picked Legends last week. All week long I was telling Phil Cutler to miss his Legends game so he can show up to our division three team on time. I told him over and over that Wolverines would beat them. Well, Wolverines did just that. To win by three scores against a team who only a year ago found themselves in the division two finals is quite impressive. Eric Kavaldjian went off! 6 receptions for 113 yards and 4 TD to propel the Wolverines to their second win in three weeks. Although I think Wolverines’ defense needs to tidy up, Tony has their offense going full force. Legends somehow find themselves 1-2 with a team full of talent. Bad news alert: the first three weeks was supposed to be the easy part of their schedule.
Chernobyl Circus 37 – #NR 18
James Floreani had his worst outing of this season in this game and I don’t fault him for it. Chernobyl possesses what I think is the best defense in division two. At the end of the day, they have a division one caliber defense. Chernobyl’s success will live and die by Patrick Chenard’s ability to get his receivers the ball. Personally, I think Pat doesn’t help himself out enough with his ability to run. Running more often would slow down the rush and force the defense to respect your feet as well as your arm. Nicolas Arsenault-Hum put the team on his back catching 10 balls for 115 yards. Nic also caught 4 of Pats 5 touchdown passes. Mathieu Thuot was the defensive star that night with two interceptions, one of which he brought home to its rightful owner…
Served With Ice 33 – Wild Boys 6
Absolute domination on both sides of the ball by SWI. I’m honestly really disappointed by Wild Boys. I thought they had the players to do some damage in this division and so far they are an absolute flop. JD Chevalier and Mathieu Guidon combined for three interceptions and two defensive touchdowns. Death by a thousand cuts. Mathieu Rene needs to go back to the drawing board. Wild Boys are better then what they’ve shown lately and I believe it’s a matter of time until they either implode or start imposing their will on teams. SWI continue to find ways to win against good teams. They are not a team you should take lightly.
Vinni’s Stud Squad:
QB: Rochdi Benabdelkader (DK) 21/26 for 289 yards and 8 TDs – I’ve often said that only Rochdi’s own demons can affect him. I guess he took care of his demons. What a performance against a solid D.
QB: Marco Masciotra (CLK) 18/20 for 266 yards and 8 TDs – I guess it’s normal now to throw 8 TDs? Marco is annihilating division two defenses.
WR: Theo Ojeaha (DBS) 6 Receptions for 93 yards and 5 TDs – C’Mon, I honestly have no words for things like this. This was against Finest’s defense!
WR: Nicolas Arsenault-Hum (CC) 10 Receptions for 115 yards and 4 TDs – This might have been the easiest pick I’ve ever had to make. His face is in all three weekly leaders catching categories. Nic you’re a beast and I knew that, but now #NR knows that too.
DB: Kevin Laliberte (TS) 3 interceptions 3 Tackles and 1 PD – A hat trick is remarkable; I don’t care what you think. Way to be a stud Kev!
R: Sorry rushers you just need to be better 2 sacks don’t make you a stud in my books.

Ok so last week Nate destroyed me. This week I destroyed Nate, which means we’re now 1-1. If only we had a way to know who’s not going to show up the week we pick them on our roster…

Game of the Week:
Chernobyl Circus VS O.N.S.
I love this match up between one of the best offense in ONS going up against the best defense in Chernobyl. I don’t know how Kevin Wyeth is going to come up with a game plan to win one on ones. Across the board, the better receiver for ONS are going to be tagged by top quality division one DBs like Pat Chenard, Nic Arsenault Hum, Matt bond and Jovan Cober. On the other hand, Pat Chenard looks to slash through one of the weaker defenses division two has to offer. This is going to be a game most likely decided by extra points. Look for Kevin Wyeth to have a very low yards per throw average.
Keys:
Kevin Wyeth’s ability to run VS Alex Gatier (The Giant)
Chris Pinsonneault & Scott Payne VS Patrick Chenard & Nicolas Arseneault-Hum
Pat Chenard VS Greed (not forcing throws)
Chenard is going to have to answer to every one of ONS’s scoring drives. Eventually Chernobyl’s defense is going to make a play that will launch them towards the victory.
ONS 34 Chernobyl 37
If you haven’t listened to the weekly podcast yet I strongly urge you to do so. This week Moe Khan states that CBL is better then Montreal’s Finest after three week of play. He also calls out Tony Khoury on his dirty style of play. Anyways, thanks for reading and good luck this weekend!
Ciao for now.
