The Rise of Braves, Phoqueing around, and Rangers at Risk!
After a long wait, hello again to Co-Ed 1! Although I love football the most, I’ve been recently watching Last Chance U (Basketball Edition), and it has got me pumped for Basketball! I’ve never really watched Basketball before and just might have to give this NBA-thing a chance… Nevertheless, football is better and more important and more awesome, so let’s focus on FPF! Co-Ed 1 is like the older successful sibling of the family, and as such, is full of talent. Let’s journey around the Division and see what’s been shaking up recently!
THE UNSTOPPABLE THOUGHTS OF A MAD MAN
- I don’t know what’s in the water, but Jessica Bositampen just doesn’t stop…. 21 sacks in 9 games!!! Seeing Jessica cross the 20+ sack threshold might become a regular occurrence in FPF since she was able to pull in 22 sacks in Winter of 2022 and has repeated that same feat this Winter!
- With only 1 game to go, NORTHERN BRAVES are clearly the team to beat. Undefeated with only LES PETITS PHOQUES to go, it’s fair to say that whoever wants a Championship title will need to beat this team in the finals.
- There are a lot of games that could potentially shake up the playoff seeding, but one of the more interesting ones is BALL BUSTERS vs PARTY MIX! Both of these teams are fighting to crawl out of an elimination spot, with BALL BUSTERS hoping that their tie will keep them safe if they win.
- I knew the top QB spot would be changing, but it has been a rollercoaster of emotions over the past few weeks! We find Jonathan Maheu at the top of the rankings now, almost out of reach. However, both POWER RANGERS and GIRL SCOUTS have 2 more games to play, instead of just 1. Will that be enough for another ranking change?
- So…..Uhh…..Lauriane Beauchamp is some sort of SUPERSTAR! Leading in virtually every Receiving stat: 53 Rec / 70 Targets / 659 Yrds / 23 TDs, she is the clear winner for Receiver of the Year. Having only really started playing in 2022, she has solidified herself as the go to piece for NORTHERN BRAVES this year! 23 TOUCHDOWNS!?!?!? A few more might even get her on the board of Single Season Records!
- Besides the loss in week 1 to NORTHERN BRAVES, KISS MY OUTLAWS has remained undefeated all season. Could we see a potential rematch in the finals? Or will someone else knock out the OUTLAWS in the postseason?
- AJ Gomes may be leading the league with 7 INTs, but Wade Jr. Shallcross has an impressive 25 tackles, 8 PDs, and 6 INTs as well. Include that to the amazing performances of Ludovik Biedermann – 42 Tackles, and Jessica Boistampen – 21 Sacks, and it could be anyone’s race for Defensive Player of the Year. I continue to be biased and hope that any rusher who can put up 20+ sacks in a season wins something…but with a monster Co-Ed division comes monster players, and no position is ever truly safe.
- Tam Vilaydeth and the POWER RANGERS have been able to score 30+ points since the beginning of the season and have one of the best Points Against. However, the rangers were de-powered against an EZFUN team and only scored 18 points! They have the JUSTICE LEAGUE and THE FUNNY CLUB left to face, which I would have said were guaranteed win, but with the loss to EZFUN – maybe these games will prove to be a bigger struggle than initially anticipated.

TEAM REVIEWS
NORTHERN BRAVES:
Everywhere I look, I see NORTHERN BRAVES. Top QB – NORTHERN BRAVES, Top Receiver – NORTHERN BRAVES, Top of the Division – NORTHERN BRAVES. It may be obvious to some, but me being a blockhead, had to look them up to see who they were all about… and I found some great Division 1 caliber players! Despite being a first year team in Co-Ed, the core of this team has been well established as the BRAVES. George Gariepy, Jonathan Maheu, Mike Pierrecin, and Sebastien Crisi-Lauzon all come down from the BRAVES team! They have recruited some new talent in: Clara Beaudoin, Jonathan Robillard, Tamara Journeau, and Kristopher Verreault. Lauriane Beauchamp isn’t new to FPF, but is new to the team. That doesn’t seem to stop her from being the #1 Receiver in the Division! Together, these NORTHERN BRAVES have been rolling through the division are primed to be this year’s Champs!
The lowest score this team has had is 30pts and were able to get all the way to 54pts against BALL BUSTERS. It’s a hard ask from most teams to score above 30 points against this defense. 19 INTs, 14 Sacks, 25 PDs, and 5 Defensive TDs… this defense is scary to look at – almost all players have a PD and an INT! Despite leading the defense in tackles (25), Lauriane Beauchamp might not even be among the top 3 defensive players, that’s how impressive the skill in this team is! Jonathan Maheu is leading the division as QB with 42 TDs, 23 of those going to Lauriane! Kristopher Verreault has made his presence known as my favorite defensive player on this team, leading with 2 defensive TDs. This team shows no sign of stopping, so keep on keeping on!
Prediction : 10-0

POWER RANGERS:
POWER RANGERS go back all the way to 2018 and I believe were one of the original teams in Co-ED. They were champs in 2018 with Kevin Lubin as QB and then won again in 2019 when Tam Vilaydeth took over as QB. Tam stayed as QB and the RANGERS have continued winning since then: Champs again in Spring of 2021 and Winter 2022! POWER RANGERS have been able to continually beat the new seasonal villain, but may have finally met their match. With 8 games played, POWER RANGERS are in the unique position to pass KISS MY OUTLAWS and find themselves in 2nd place of the division. Their 2 remaining games are against THE JUSTICE LEAGUE and THE FUNNY CLUB. Both of these games are winnable and should be must win games to put the pressure on the rest of the division. They may be the only team with the skill and experience in Co-Ed to give NORTHERN BRAVES a run for their money!
Team regular, Jasmine Farmer, leads this offense with a solid 7 TDs. Mathieu Felipe and Serge Pilon Jr. both can boast over 200 yards receiving and multiple TDs, and if that wasn’t enough, these RANGERS also have Constance Millaire and Wade Jr. Shallcross as secondary options. Get your biggest Zords ready, cause this team is not going down without a monstrous fight! With a big performing defense, Tam has the chance to catch up to some of the leading QB’s and bring the POWER RANGERS to the position they have been for years! The Rangers have their biggest battle yet this year and will need to pull out all the stops.
Predictions: 8-2

LES PETITS PHOQUES:
The tiny seals established themselves early and easily in Spring of 2022 in Co-Ed 1. They made it all the way to the finals, but lost against a strong KISS MY OUTLAWS team. They then came back for the Co-Ed cup and were able to beat EZFUN back to back times for the Championship! Now, they pushed themselves back into Co-Ed 1 and have found the same success that they found in Spring of 2022! Despite most likely losing to NORTHERN BRAVES this week, LES PETITS PHOQUES have guaranteed their playoff spot. Dom Lefort keeps pushing this team ahead. Scoring 37 TDs in 2022, he is on track to tying himself or beating himself, as he currently has 34 TDs. Phil Pharand leads this team as the main TD machine – bringing in 8 TDs – but Laurianne Bonin is the most targeting receiver, with 33 targets! With 8 receivers having over 100 yards receiving, any player for the PHOQUES can be a potential threat.
Nicolas Paquin, Adel Blanc, and Anne-Soph Pepin are all key players for this PHOQUEing defense. They may not have the most INTs or the most Sacks, but this team has heart and doesn’t give up! They have won a lot of good games while also holding 1 or 2 surprising losses (38-0 against POWER RANGERS comes to mind). They are coming off of a Bowl win in the fall, but with the NORTHERN BRAVES now entering the fray, will the seals be able to slink away with another Championship?
Predictions: 5-4-1
