The GM’s Scouting Report (Div A & B)

Top Performers of the Week

Tony Tabet (Wolverines) – We can just go ahead and give Tony the top performance of the season. Aside from Kevin Wyeth’s most recent finals outing, I have never heard of a QB with a perfect completion ratio that threw the whole game, and I’ve been lucky enough to witness them both. Tony went 11 for 11, with 5 touchdowns thrown and one run in as well, cementing his Hall of Fame status as well deserved.

Michael Chitayat (Rainmakers) – How often can you throw to someone before it gets tedious? If it’s the case of Kastner throwing to Chitayat, the answer is never. Defining unstoppable and bringing the ONS defense into serious question, Chitayat had 7 catches for 6 touchdowns. Someone who definitely doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves, Chitayat’s performance had a lot to do with the win over ONS.

Phil Cutler (KGP Champs) – A solid two-way outing, Cutler went 19-23 with 8 TDs, and still had enough time to come up with 6 tackles, an INT and a pass defended. There’s little more that you can ask for than a captain and QB who leads by example, but Phil definitely went above and beyond and held his own in the offensive shootout against Darkside.

The Best Players You’ve Never Heard Of (Cont’d)

Once again, this segment continues on, sort of like a spotlight. I’m going to keep talking about the new talent in the division, because not only does it show that there is more talent in the league than meets the eye, but it’ll also get some of the players on here some respect for continuing to put up numbers despite playing in the top division with the big dogs.

Fred Mallette (Certified Flyguyz)

The Certified Flyguyz have had a string of bad luck, from registering late and having to play up in Division B, to having their prized new recruit and CIS QB bail on them multiple weeks, leaving them scrambling for players. Despite all this, Fred has still been able to show his talent. He’s put up solid numbers at receiver despite having filled in as halfback/quarterback for just about every game. You can see that there’s a lot of potential for growth, and that Fred’s name is one we’ll be hearing often should he stick around in A/B.

Predictions

Again, since my article didn’t come out before the games, I tweeted my predictions before the games started. Went 2-1, which isn’t too bad. Without counting those (the count will be updated next week) I’m at 18-9, or .500. Hopefully I can bring it up a little bit.

Rainmakers vs. Roosters & Donkeys – Rainmakers

{Roosters & Donkeys won 39-21}

Legends vs. Certified Flyguyz – Legends

{Legends won 39-19}

#NR vs. Wolverines – #NR

{#NR won 38-6}

Daron World Wide vs. DA Finest – I’m trying to find reasons to pick against the Finest to make it interesting, but I’m finding none. As such, I’ll stick to being right. Daron World Wide have been struggling their last few games and I’m thinking that the trend will extend to when they face the league’s best. DA Finest, meanwhile, will have another day at the office. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call for DWW.

Prediction: DA Finest

One Night Stands vs. AMJ Campbell – I’ve been super critical on AMJ Campbell, and I think that a lot of it has to do with the hype of Benoit Groulx. With that kind of reputation, I figured that they would be instantly competitive. It hasn’t been the case, but they’re adapting as a team quite quickly and even proved me wrong last week, beating an undermanned Hustlers team. This week, we’ll see if they’re for real.

Prediction: One Night Stands

Hustlers vs. KGP Champs – A game that I can see being one of the more entertaining ones to watch this week. This one is definitely going to be another offensive shootout, and I’m tempted to go with the Champs on this one. They just came off of a game where the stakes and the score was high, while the Hustlers are struggling to field the same roster week in, week out.

Prediction: KGP Champs

Les Grosses Tetes Molles de Chernobyl vs. Alkaholiks – The game this week that I have a lot of trouble predicting. Both teams are looking solid with different players chipping in and contributing each week. My gut told me to go with LGTMC, but my brain is telling me that the speed and brute strength on the Alkaholiks will take it. Since I’m hungry but haven’t eaten in a while, I’ll ignore my gut.

Prediction: Alkaholiks

Darkside vs. The Commission – A lot of the “empire” players who play together in higher divisions and elsewhere are squaring off in this matchup. It’s going to be a battle of supporting casts rather than a battle of quarterbacks this week, and I’m thinking that Darkside are just too well built this season for The Commission to keep up. I’m all for being surprised, but I’m going to go with camo on this one.

Prediction: Darkside

Gladiateurs vs. Usual Suspects – This might just be the game that rights the ship for the Glads. They have a lull in the schedule with some very winnable games, but it all starts here. Most of the Usual Suspects will be coming off of the previous game while the Gladiateurs will be fresh and looking to exploit.

Prediction: Gladiateurs

Well, that’s it for me. I’ve given up any hope of getting anything other than spam in my FPF email, so if there’s anything you’d like to discuss, come see me in person or send me a facebook message. Until then, the GM is out for another week.
