FlagplusFootball Trivia

What started out as a joke on the sidelines while I was scorekeeping turned into an actual idea for the article. This league already has stats kept, past seasons, former champions, a hall of fame and even fantasy stats kept. So why not trivia as well?  I dug deep, and looked for questions that aren’t always even available on the site. I’ll provide the answers next week, but for those of you who want to participate: the player/staff member/referee who gets the most questions right can have an interview in the article. Send me your answers on facebook!

– Name the two teams that have registered the same team name every winter since 2005.

– So far in FPF history, there has been 5 times where an FPF player has won a double championship. Name the players, and their respective teams.

– Who was the only team that the Young Guns lost to in their franchise history?

– Rochdi Benabdelkader has nine championships to his name. Name two teams he played on that made the finals and LOST.

–  Who is the only player in FPF history to make playoffs on THREE teams in the SAME season?

Also, if you have any other trivia worth asking, feel free to send it along to me!

Predictions

Division 1

Terror Squad vs. Gladiateurs: With Maniax having the head-to-head on both of these teams, this one’s largely going to have to be for pride. Terror Squad took the last one, however the Glads were without Frank Lebeau at the helm. Provided that both teams show up with their full rosters, I’m tempted to give this one to the Glads.

Prediction: Gladiateurs

Rainmakers vs. Alkaholiks: The last time these two teams saw each other, the Alkaholiks were basically without a center and Paul Lapierre had to switch from quarterback in order to fill in. With all cylinders firing, this one should be a different story. Ryan Kastner is going to have to be quick on the offense in order to keep pace back and forth.

Prediction: Alkaholiks

Express vs. Montreal’s Finest: Once again, the Express get the opportunity to be the thorn in the side of the Finest. The last time these two teams faced each other, it didn’t bode well for the Express…and I’m tempted to say that this game won’t be too different. With a potential rusher switch this week to keep Chenard in check, and an unstoppable offense, this one goes to the Finest.

Prediction: Montreal’s Finest

Division 2

Road Runners vs. Wolfpack: On paper this will probably be one of the more exciting games in D2. Vert et Or alums Francis Lapointe (recently added to the CFL combine) and Patrick Chenard will be squaring off, and Pascal Murray will have his passing lanes tested by the height of Alexandre Gatien, while Felix Prevost will be using his speed to lock down Chenard. I think that this one is going to come down to depth and who can make the big plays, and Road Runners have the deeper roster.

Prediction: Road Runners

Served With Ice vs. Bodyhype: After starting the season 0-3, Served With Ice have bounced back to a solid 5-4. Bodyhype have looked solid early on but have lost their last 4. With the possibility of top receiver and center Raphael Casey sitting out this one as well, things are not looking good for Bodyhype, however SWI will also be without Jordan McLaren. This one will probably come down to experience.

Prediction: N/A

DK vs. One Night Stands: If Ryan Aridi didn’t film the GOTWs, this would be without a doubt Game of the Week. The two undefeated teams are going to go at it in what’ll definitely be an exciting matchup. As good as the ONS defense is, I’m thinking that DK simply has too many weapons and have the ability to consistently create separation with their speed. This’ll definitely come down to defensive stops (if any!)

Prediction: DK

Hustlers vs. GoonzSquad: If you looked at the rosters of both teams, and their records, you wouldn’t think that it was actually the Hustlers who have given up more points this season. As good as their offense is, they’ve struggled to make any sort of stop. They’ll be able to lock down GoonzSquad this week (with recently added CFL player Fredo Plesius) but it’ll unfortunately be too little, too late.

Prediction: Hustlers

Wolverines vs. Team Padon: With a loss to DK last week, the Wolverines are out of the playoffs but will likely be looking to save some of the dynasty’s face this season. Padon are in the playoffs and have been playing well, but are largely disorganized. I’m thinking that the slow pace that the Wolverines play and their ability to adjust will be too much for Padon this week.

Prediction: Wolverines

D-Boys vs. Ice Up Son: The battle for the top of Conference B is definitely going to be a good one. You’ve got the two strongest teams in the conference battling over who will have the better playoff seeding. Ice Up son have been playing well as of late but D-Boys have been on fire all season and have also faced steeper competition.

Prediction: D-Boys

Pantheres vs. Top Gunnz: Youth versus experience. Usually, in this scenario I side with experience, however I’m thinking that the Top Gunnz might just take this one with raw talent. Not the most organized, they’re still going to be able to play on the weaknesses of the Pantheres and consistently go deep.

Prediction: Top Gunnz
