Some Teams May Surprise You
Week 3 just finished and can I just start by saying how absolutely wrong I was for last weeks Coed 2 predictions…I got all of them wrong except for Pig 6 which are currently on a winning streak but we’ll talk about them another time! For this week, lets say that it wasn’t as we were expecting for Coed 1 and i’ll be mentionning the rest of the teams as threats in Coed 2.
Coed 1
The IG Team 32-32 Party Mix
Let’s start with The IG Team and Party Mix ending the game with a tie. We all know The IG Team has won 2 out of the 3 finals they attended in the last few seasons to which Party Mix weren’t present in the division. This game happened last Sunday at Brossard. Both teams are using their female players more and more but my question is, since Party Mix was missing their key players such as AJ Gomes and Anne-Frédérique Tardif, would Party Mix have won that game? We’ve seen from the past games that Anne-Frédérique seems to be a big target for Francois Deslauriers and for good reasons as she is making some plays and putting points on that scoreboard. Since The IG Team has been winning most of their games before, now that Party Mix is involved, does this say that they can be the challenging team for The IG Team this season? They will be playing each other again towards the end of the season so hopefully, both teams have their full roster and we can see who really has the upper hand this season and is a threat to other teams.
EZFun 39-13 Zerosub
Finally EZFun getting their first win! They have let Zerosub only gain 2 touchdowns which meant they had lots of stops on defense. 2 interceptions made by Frédérique Daoust and Jeremy White, and a lot of tackles made on 4th down to get a turnover on downs. The game started off strong with Alexa Demers getting an important sack on 4th down giving the ball back to her team. Alexa has got a total of 3 sack during the game to which they happened at crucial moments. EZFun didn’t come out to play that night, they played amazing and made good plays when they needed it the most. They have kept their main key players for a couple season now and it really shows as they communicate and execute well on both sides of the ball. Jeremy is a good QB as well as his receivers who are catching almost 100% of the balls thrown in their direction. Their chemistry is awesome and hopefully they can get many more wins during the season.
On the other hand, it may not have been the best game for Sara Parker. She only gained 2 touchdowns and was intercepted twice. The stats show that she didn’t really use her male players and mainly focused on throwing to her usual players. She does have more completions than Jeremy White however I believe it wasn’t enough to put more points on the scoreboard. Hopefully, they step up their game as I think there’s a lot of people out there who would be amazed to see a whole women’s team win the coed finals once again.
Coed 2
Here is the continuation from last week’s segment, threats from each team offensively and defensively. for the remaining 10 teams.
You and I
Offense: Alexis Labonté
You may not expect a lot from him but you would be surprised by the way he analyzes the field. He can find the holes in the defense and take advantage of it. He can gain lots of yards just from being field smart. (I’m calling this field smart just like street smart but in football style, might as well have fun with it).
Defense: Anne-sophie Duchesne
She seems to be doing a lot of damage on defense, both as a rusher and a defensiveback. In only 2 games she has been able to get 5 tackles, 1 interception and 3 sacks. She is definitely someone to look out for when playing against this team.
Flash
Offense: Jeremy Murphy
Definitely a touchdown-maker. From his previous teams, he’s got lots of yards and touchdowns and i’m not worried he will do the same this season, therefore making him a big threat on offense.
Defense: Alexis Gaumont
Lots of experience in the flag world. He has the skill to read the offense well and determine where the ball goes, there’s a reason he’s got 4 touchdowns and we’re only 3 weeks into the season.
Ballhard University
Offense: Rhami Aboud
Seems to be the main threat. He has the most yards and touchdowns compared to his teammates. Definitely a first read for his QB therefore taking him away as a read may help you defensively.
Defense: Jeffrey Alfieri
One of the tackle makers on this team, seems to be a speedy player that can catch up to you once you get the ball. Can also intercept the ball as seen from his previous stats.
TIGRES
Offense: Néstor Nacip Chávez Fayad
His running speed is unique, he is very fast and is difficult to catch. Once he starts running there’s a good chance he is getting in the endzone, whether it’s running in a straight line or zigzaging its way through defenders. As he is an agile player, it makes it difficult for others to deflag him. You can expect more touchdowns from his running then his throws.
Defense: Thalia Gudiño
She defends her zone like every defender needs to do and isn’t scared to deflag you. She will contain you from running away and will get the flag one way or another.
Power Puff Girls
Offense: Maxence St-Gelais Ouellet
Is getting lots of yards after the ball gets caught. With only 4 catches, they are averaging around 17 yards per catch, making them a good to gain first downs.
Defense: Sarah -Muller
She is there when the ball gets thrown and seems to be deflagging very fast, only letting her opponents get as few yards as possible.
Kanikule
Offense: Maria Mansseri
She is a very mobile player. She can move her hips in any way, make twists and turns for you to miss the flags. It works efficiently as you may get her flag after a couple attempts, but while you were trying to get her flags, she gained more yards then she would’ve if she stayed still.
Defense: Laeticia Ngaleu
A safety that is there when the ball gets thrown. She owns that position as she excels at getting interceptions. Her height is a big advantage and she can jump up to the ball, she doesn’t need to be exactly near you to intercept it.
Kamikaze
Offense : Eric Letourneau
A speedy player that knows his way around the defense. He can make you miss his flags with a juke, maybe with his hips or just a change in direction when you don’t expect it.
Defense: Gabriel Lemonde
Although he is the QB of the team, you may not expect it but he is getting the most tackles. Other teams are probably not expecting QB’s to get flags when on defense therefore they tend to throw in their direction, however he is very effective on defense.
Mc Nuggies
Offense: Alexandre Roel
He understands the game well, as he is a football coach, he knows his way around the field. He is another player that can find the holes in the defense and take advantage of it therefore, not putting your best player on him would be like personally handing them the win.
Defense: Shelder Valéry
A speedy player that isn’t afraid to jump for the interception. Although you may catch the ball, he can catch up to you very fast and deflag you, not letting you get away with it very easily. Another football coach, therefore can expect the offense to run certain routes which means he will be where the ball is going to end up.
Balls Deep
Offense: Xavier Paquette
A tall player with great hands. He runs his route well which can help him get open and has the advantage to jump up for the ball especially in the endzone.
Defense: Benjamin Carli
Although he is the QB, he plays excellent on defense with already 11 tackles, 1 interception and 1 PD. You don’t always expect QBs to be excelling on defense but Benjamin is a unique player and excels on both sides of the ball.
The IG Team 2
Offense: Shandy Louis-Jacquet
A quick and tall player which makes it harder for the defense to touch the ball. The most you can get is his flags but close to the endzone he is very difficult to stop as he makes short plays that can get him touchdowns.
Defense: Maxim Sanschagrin
Seems to be getting lots of pat-downs. Therefore if he can tap the ball away from you, he definitely can start getting the hang of it and may have a great chance at intercepting it.
