Season Finale: Going for Gold

Div D Finals

Well, at last this Spring season is finally coming to a close this weekend, but damnit, was it a thrilling season of FPF action or what. Now, all eyes are fixed on the highly anticipated championship finals in Division D between Knights 2.0 and Les Studz. After months of fierce competition, only two teams remain standing, poised to battle it out as the road to Brossard finally reaches its last chapter. Both teams have overcome some tough obstacles and have fought hard the whole season and now have a chance to reach the ultimate mountain top and call themselves champions. Congratulations to all the individual award winners and All-stars across the league. FPF houses the best flag football players across the province, so if you are one of the award winners or all-star selections, you have entered STUD territory. Without further delay lets hop into this years Spring Finalists.

In one corner, we have the powerhouse offense of Marc-Andre Reeves and Knights 2.0, a team that has been the biggest surprise in all of FPF. After heading into week 6 with a 1-5 record, everyone counted out Knights 2.0 Led by their dynamic quarterback and bolstered by a roster stacked with talent and athleticism, Knights 2.0 have steamrolled through the competition this playoffs, scoring 40 or more in every playoff game so far. Their only close game in the back half of the season came a few weeks ago where Knights 2.0 knocked off the 10-0 Snowdon Deli Degens in overtime. With all the confidence in the wold and their sights set firmly on the championship, they enter the finals as the team to beat, determined to showcase their dominance once again.

On the flip side, Les Studz have been on a hot streak eliminating some of the divisions best teams like Melons, Black Shinobi and Brewers. Their offence has been great, but its been their defence that has allowed this team to go on this remarkable run. In 4 playoff games, this defence has forced 7 interceptions and 2 oft them were brought back for touchdowns. Mathieu Limoges is the teams playoff leader in INT’s with 3 and is responsible for both of those pick sixes. If they can force Marc Andre Reeves into making some mistakes and turning the ball over, they will have a chance to lift the trophy by nights end.

Division D Finals Preview: Knights 2.0 vs. Les Studz

The Division D Finals is set to showcase a thrilling clash between the high-flying Knights 2.0 and the underdog Les Studz. Despite being in the lower half of the standings for most of the regular season, both teams have surged to the final showdown in impressive fashion. Both these teams have excelled on both sides of the ball and are going to make for a very interesting final.

Les Studz, the higher seed with a 5-5 record, enter this game on an impressive hot streak, having won 8 of their last 9 games. Their offense has been explosive, averaging 31 points per game. Quarterback Philippe Gileneas has been the driving force, delivering a stellar playoff performances with 19 touchdown passes, 760 yards, and only 2 interceptions in 4 games. His exceptional play will be crucial in their quest for the title. Too many mistakes or even one too many turnovers can be the difference in today’s final. The WR duo of Antoine Clément and Justin Beauséjour need to be on fire tonight to keep Les Studz in the game and in order to keep pace with the firepower offence that is Knights 2.0. They have combined for 11 touchdowns in their playoff run and need those two guys to consistently get open and make it easy for their quarterback in order to run a smooth offence. This offence can hurt you in many ways as they are able to march down the field and score in the redone or beat you in one or two plays over top. Thats what has given Les Studz momentum as they can score from any area and keep defences honest.

On the other side, Knights 2.0 have crafted a remarkable underdog story. After a rough 1-5 start in Week 6, they have fought their way to the finals, thanks largely to the leadership of Marc Andre Reeves. Reeves has consistently put his team in a winning position, proving he’s too skilled for Division D. His level of accuracy and precision is very rare in Division D and he has shown the difference of having a top QB can do for a team. From last to the last two remaining. In the playoffs, Shaguy St-Lot has been the primary offensive weapon for Knights 2.0, amassing 7 touchdowns and 230 yards.

Expect a high-scoring battle as both teams bring potent offenses to the field. Les Studz’s dynamic passing game and stingy defence and Knights 2.0’s resilient and explosive offense promise an exciting and competitive final. Its always fun to watch these finals as unexpected events usually transpire. The use of a challenge adds a special ingredient to an already exciting atmosphere and like always having the film crew and the guys in the booth always make Finals weekend that much more special. I expect Knights 2.0 to come out strong and lead the whole first half. They will capitalize on having the ball first and will begin to put pressure on Les Studz form the get go. After trailing at half time I think Les Studz will surge back and take the lead over Knights 2.0 after a turnover perhaps. But ultimately I think the Knights will prevail and take a two possession lead, leaving Les Studz no choice but to score and attempt the onside. Their onside will not be successful and Knights 2.0 will be crowned Champions with a final score of 38-34.

Semi Finals Player of the Week: Justin Beauséjour

In the semi-final showdown against the Brewers, Justin Beauséjour of Les Studz was nothing short of sensational. The wide receiver was a hungry force on the offensive side, turning in a perfect performance with 6 receptions on 6 targets for 90 yards and 4 touchdowns. His unmatched playmaking ability was pivotal in securing Les Studz’s victory and advancing them to the Division D Finals. With such a standout performance,  Beauséjour has positioned himself as a key player to watch in today’s final against Knights 2.0. Expect him to be a major offensive threat and a game-changer in the championship clash.

Thats all for me for this 2024 Spring season. I would like to thank all my readers for tuning in and keeping up with all the FPF action. Congrats once again to all the All star players across the league and good luck to all teams participating in this weekends Finals. Until next season, Stay Happy and Stay Healthy.
