Run to the playoffs

With the last few games completed this week, we are concluding the regular season and heading into the playoffs. Every team will now battle hard to reach the finals on August 11th. Some games will be tough, while others may be predictable. Let’s begin with Women’s A.

Women’s A

Subzero 10-0

Subzero finished with a perfect season at 10-0. They won every game and had a points for/against ratio of 274, which is excellent. They have a solid team composed of exceptional players on both offense and defense. Each complements the other, which contributes to their success. Their offensive players run precise routes and have a knack for making defenders stumble, while their defense secures tackles and interceptions effectively.

With only four teams in their division, they advance directly to the quarterfinals and will likely face the 4th seed, UQTR.

Cayenne 7-3

Cayenne is a strong team that fought hard throughout the season. They won all games except those against Subzero, which was unusual as they typically win at least one game against them. Did they make costly mistakes that allowed Subzero to capitalize? Were key players absent during those matches? Or did Subzero simply elevate their game and dominate all opponents? If any team can defeat Subzero, it’s Cayenne. Hopefully, they will work hard and come back stronger in future seasons with a determination to beat them.

Matrix 2-8

It was a challenging season for Matrix as they didn’t secure many victories. However, they gained valuable experience playing against top teams, they fostered team spirit, and improved their teamwork as the season progressed. Undoubtedly, they created lasting memories playing a sport they love. Hopefully, we’ll see them return in upcoming seasons, as they have significant potential.

UQTR 1-9

Another tough season for this team, with their lone victory coming from a Matrix forfeit. Enduring a winless season isn’t easy, but hopefully, they found positives to build on as a team. New recruits likely gained valuable experience against tough competition, possibly gaining insights into the game at a higher level. Despite missing their original quarterback, Athena Ryan stepping in and supporting the team deserves recognition. This experience will undoubtedly benefit her as she returns to St-Laurent CEGEP as their starting QB.

Women’s B

Teams that did not qualify are A-TOWN & Wildcats. We appreciate their dedication throughout the season, whether integrating new team members or participating in their first league experience. Thank you for playing with FPF, and we hope to see you in future seasons!

Now, onto the teams advancing to the playoffs:

Red Nation 8-2

Points for-against: 262-98

Red Nation returns as the top-seeded team, a familiar position for them. Known for their consistent performance throughout the season, they enter the playoffs as strong contenders. However, they face tough competition from other equally capable teams who could challenge their dominance. While their path to the finals is uncertain, potential formidable opponents may emerge, testing their resolve and strategy.

To advance to the finals on August 11th, Red Nation will rely heavily on flawless teamwork and minimizing errors under pressure. Despite the challenges ahead, their track record suggests they have what it takes to make a deep playoff run. Keep an eye on Red Nation as they navigate through the playoffs with their sights set on securing a spot in the finals

Supernova 8-2

Points for-against: 282-116

Another top contender, Supernova, has earned their place through relentless hard work this season and is rightfully sitting near the top of the standings. Despite facing tough losses to both Red Nation and Hiboux earlier in the season, they have demonstrated resilience and growth. With the right mindset and peak performance, Supernova possesses the potential to overcome these challenges and defeat their formidable rivals in the playoffs.

Supernova’s strength lies in their exceptional chemistry on the court and impressive athleticism, which have been key factors in their success throughout the season. Their ability to adapt to different game situations and capitalize on opponents’ weaknesses makes them strong contenders for a spot in the finals. As they enter the playoff phase, all eyes will be on Supernova to see if they can fulfill their potential and make a compelling push towards the championship game on August 11th.

Hiboux 8-2

Points for-against: 281-137

Sitting in the top three alongside Red Nation and Supernova, Hiboux promises exciting playoffs. Something tells me the playoff games between those 3 teams will be quite interesting to watch. Will it be a close game? I believe so indeed. Hiboux also has a great team connection and athletes, they’ll need to minimize mistakes to have a chance at making it in the finals.

Wolfpack 7-3

Wolfpack, with a close record of wins and losses, has impressed me this season and hopefully keeps impressing me during the playoffs. As underdogs, their unique gameplay style could surprise opponents and earn them a place in the finals.

Les Boys 4-6

Despite a challenging season, Les Boys have shown promise as a disruptive force. With practice and cohesion, they can refine their playstyle and become even more competitive.

Les P’tites Miettes 3-7

They come back every season and have fun with every game (hopefully). They win some they lose some, it’s not always easy but what they do have is the motivation to keep going and I envy them for that. They definitely are a team to look up to as they always come back and have the will to win it even more. They play with passion and determination, continuously adding new players to diversify their lineup.

Enjoy the summer and the upcoming playoffs. The finals are approaching quickly!

Very early finals predictions

Women’s A → Subzero vs Cayenne

I believe Subzero will win this championship with only a touchdown more than Cayenne. That will be another championship in their records.

Women’s B → Red Nation vs Supernova

I believe this game will be a close one but I can see Supernova winning the finals. They will show up to their game confident and ready to put everything on the field, their motivation is what will drive them down the field and make the stops they need on defense. They will exploit Red Nation’s style of play and use it to their advantage to gain more touchdowns. A little prediction…
