Reopening Update | Mise à jour de la réouverture

Hello FPF Community,

We continue to keep a close eye on the Provincial Government’s guidelines surrounding our re-opening. We wanted to reach out with an important update regarding our interrupted Winter 2020 season, as well as our reopening timeline.

The original plan was to resume the unfinished Winter 2020 season immediately upon our re-opening; we have now decided to delay the completion of the Winter 2020 season (week 11 and playoffs) until mid-November to mid-December of this year.

Our updated objective is to begin a new season that would run from August to November, assuming the green light is given by public health, as currently projected. Games would be played outdoors until mid-October, and we would then move indoors for the last month of the season.

Immediately following the completion of that season, we would complete the remainder of the Winter 2020 season over a four-week timeline, being sure to complete the championship games no later than December 13^th (at the latest).

As mentioned above, the original plan was to continue the interrupted Winter 2020 season immediately upon re-opening and start a new season after that. What we failed to recognize is that in doing so, we would pressure some players/teams to return sooner than they were comfortable with. Instead, by re-opening with the start of a new season, we are leaving it to the teams’ discretion to either sign up and return to play immediately, or to not take part for the time being.

All that said, we do acknowledge that there may be some Winter 2020 participants (entire teams and/or individual players) who will still not be ready to participate by November. Unfortunately, we do not believe it would not be possible to delay the completion of that season any later. The league will announce revised rules regarding eligibility for the Winter 2020 playoffs in the coming months.

We will also be adding a supplement to the rule book, formalizing modifications to existing playing rules given the current sanitary requirements of the public health authorities.

Finally, a reminder that all of this is our plan- yet amid unprecedented times like these, it becomes difficult to set any plans in stone.Thank you so much for your understanding, and we hope to follow up soon with information regarding registration for the new season!

Nous continuons de surveiller de près les directives du gouvernement provincial concernant notre réouverture. Nous voulions communiquer avec une mise à jour importante concernant notre saison d’hiver 2020 interrompue.

Le plan initial était de reprendre la saison d’hiver 2020 incomplète immédiatement après notre réouverture; nous avons maintenant décidé de reporter la fin de la saison d’hiver 2020 (semaine 11 et séries éliminatoires) à la mi-novembre à la mi-décembre de cette année.

Notre objectif est de commencer une nouvelle saison qui se déroulera d’août à novembre, en supposant que le feu vert est donné par la santé publique, comme prévu. Les matchs se joueraient à l’extérieur jusqu’à la mi-octobre, et nous nous déplacerions ensuite à l’intérieur pour le dernier mois de la saison.

Immédiatement après la fin de cette saison, nous terminerions le reste de la saison d’hiver 2020 sur une période de quatre semaines, en étant sûr de terminer les matchs du championnat au plus tard le 13 décembre.

Comme mentionné ci-dessus, le plan initial était de continuer la saison d’hiver 2020 interrompue immédiatement après la réouverture de la ligue, et de commencer une nouvelle saison après cela. Ce que nous n’avons pas reconnu, c’est qu’en faisant cela, nous mettrons pression sur certains joueurs / équipes pour qu’ils reviennent plus tôt qu’ils ne le souhaitaient. Au lieu de cela, en rouvrant avec le début d’une nouvelle saison, nous laissons à la discrétion des équipes de s’inscrire et de revenir jouer immédiatement, ou de ne pas participer pour l’instant.

Cela dit, nous reconnaissons qu’il peut y avoir des participants à l’hiver 2020 (équipes entières et / ou joueurs individuels) qui ne seront toujours pas prêts à participer d’ici novembre. Malheureusement, nous ne pensons pas qu’il ne serait pas possible de retarder la fin de cette saison plus tard. La ligue annoncera plus tard des règles révisées concernant l’admissibilité aux éliminatoires de l’hiver 2020.

Nous ajouterons également un supplément au règlements, officialisant les modifications des règles de jeu existantes compte tenu des exigences sanitaires actuelles des autorités de santé publique.

Enfin, rappelons que tout cela est notre plan – et pourtant, dans des moments sans précédent comme celui-ci, il devient difficile de fixer des plans futurs a 100%.
