Quarterfinals done, Semi’s here we come!

Quarterfinals are now complete for Coed 1 & 2, and the winning teams are advancing to the semifinals tonight, starting at 5 pm in the Laval Dome. Let’s review what happened in the last games, who lost, and who will play in the semis. Enjoy!

Coed 1

EZFun 26-34 The IG Team

A little surprise occurred at the game last Sunday… Jeanslee Alexis, quarterback for The IG Team, returned and resumed his original position. I’m not sure if EZFun were aware of it, but they fought through it and played very hard. Initially, Jeanslee seemed a bit rusty, which is understandable considering he hadn’t played for a couple of months. The passes were a bit off target initially, and he didn’t scramble as much as he used to. However, as the game progressed, we saw him scramble more frequently and attempt to run on multiple occasions. They did pull through at the end and got the win.

EZFun performed well; Jeremy White distributed the ball effectively to all his players, and on defense, they made numerous tackles. However, Jeremy only completed 16 out of 33 passes, and Jeanslee Alexis had a similar completion rate of 10 out of 25. Both teams fought hard, but I believe the pivotal moment was Jordanson Alexis’s pick-six, which helped his team secure the win.

Party Mix 31-24 Kiss My End Zone

Another defeat for the “Kiss My” franchise; it hasn’t been their best season overall, but I believe they will bounce back next season. As for this game, they played very well throughout. Tam distributed passes to everyone, read the defense well, and executed their game plan effectively. Everyone was prepared for this rematch and showed great motivation. Defensively, they were a bit loose, conceding two touchdowns that they would typically have prevented. Francois Deslauriers’s run resulted in a touchdown for Party Mix, to which he made 3 people miss the tackles, and another came when Party Mix exploited gaps in the defense.

Regarding Party Mix, Francois Deslauriers trusts his players and his playbook, even for short gains. On defense, what really made the difference was Jeremy Murphy’s interception towards the end of the game. Being a fast athlete, he couldn’t be deflagged, and he returned it for a score. Additionally, his interception late in the game allowed his team to kneel and secure the win.

Coed 2

Kiss My Christmas Balls 28-47 The IG Team 2

Another upset this season. I anticipated a tough game since The IG Team 2 included Ryth-Jean Giraud, but I believed Kiss My Christmas Balls would find a way to win. Unfortunately, they informed me that it wasn’t their best game; they didn’t perform well. It seems they attempted a different approach, as the stats show three different players attempting to run and throw. With three interceptions in total and a fast quarterback on the other side, it was a challenging situation for Kiss My Christmas Balls.

For The IG Team 2, they scored five touchdowns, got one pick-six, and one rushing touchdown, which contributed to their victory and made them move on to the next round.

Pass Whoopin’ 47-24 Team Rocket

Another dominant performance in the coed playoffs. Pass Whoopin’ played their best game of the season. Their motivation was evident, the connection between the QB and players was strong, and they communicated well on defense. They showed up and demonstrated their abilities. Chris Rivest had an outstanding performance, completing 18 out of 19 passes for almost 100% completion rate. He threw for 201 yards and got seven touchdowns. His receivers were reliable, catching everything thrown their way.

They consistently stopped Team Rocket on fourth downs, deflagging and batting down numerous passes, which allowed them to regain possession and score again. This was truly a team effort, and I’m proud of my team for it. We’ll see if they can maintain that energy tonight when they face Kanikule.

Kanikule 38-32 Lords Of The Field

A tightly contested game, with both QBs throwing five touchdowns and gaining significant yardage. It was an intense match, as playoff games often are, with everyone striving to reach the finals. However, it’s important to remember that it’s just a game, and the primary goal is to have fun and enjoy flag football! Some participants need to relax and remember to have fun. 😁

Apart from that, Athena Ryan once again demonstrated why her team is formidable. She made accurate throws, her teammates made crucial catches, and she effectively read the defense and called plays that worked.

Y&Y 26-24 Fitsquad

Another close game, with Y&Y securing a victory by only a two-point margin. There isn’t much to say as it was a standard game; both teams had similar statistics. They each scored four touchdowns, made two interceptions, gained over 200 yards, but the key difference was that Y&Y successfully converted twice for one-point conversions, which ultimately led them to victory.
