Last weeks Headlines
DOWN GO THE REET
WOW, a stunning upset leaves the division shocked as Team ethnik defeats the R.E.E.T in overtime. The R.E.E.T were without 2 big players in Dawson Pierre and Matt Simard but they were still a heavy favourite in my book. What surprised me most about the 20-20 tie going into overtime was team Ethnik’s ability to stop the high powered R.E.E.T offence. I would have never predicted Team Ethnik to come away with the W but if someone told me they did, I would have assumed it was in a shootout where each team scored 40 or 50 points. One of the divisions juggernauts getting knocked out before the Quarterfinals was very surprising. The teams were tied at 1-1 in OT as Team Ethnik had the last chance to score and they delivered. Unfortunately their journey doesn’t get any easier as they face another heavy favourite this week, Kiss My Inlaws.
Kiss my Inlaws take care of surging loup du Nord
Ending the regular season strong Loup du Nord looked like a real Dark horse team as their new Qb Ted Olivier brought this squad to a whole new level. In the first round they easily scored 40 against cunning Stunts and took care of business. Last week they faced div 4 giant Kiss My Inlaws. They couldn’t overcome the offensive powerhouse that is Kiss My Inlaws. Scoring on almost every possession, Loup Du Nord played catch up the entire game. An unusual pick 6 in the redone for Iggy Manzanedo late in the game gave Loup du Nord some hope. But their decision to not go for the onside kick proved fatal as Kiss My Inlaws marched down the field and scored once more virtually ending the game 33-21. Im looking forward to seeing this squad next season and watch them progress.
Ballz Deep Get Buried by Martine et Le flag
Although I did select Martine et Le Flag to get the W last week, I never imagined it would be such a blowout. What surprised me most was Ballz Deep inability to score even one touchdown. Justin Weir was just unable to connect with his receivers as they went 0-4 on 4th Down and Threw 3 pick 6’s. Ballz Deep defence has been strong all season and held the opposing offence to 21 points and forced a turnover, but their efforts simply weren’t enough to over come their offensive woes. Maybe not having Isaiah Allard finally caught up to them, or maybe they just had an off night, but thats how football playoffs go, Any Given Sunday.
Div 4 Yearly Award Winners
Quarterback of the Year: Ignacio Manzanedo- Kiss My Inlaws
Congratulations to Iggy Manzanedo, the well-deserved recipient of the FPF Division 4 Quarterback of the Year award! Iggy had an outstanding regular season season, leading the division in passing touchdowns with an impressive 55. With only three interceptions on the season and throwing over 2000 yards no other QB came close to his season performance. Iggy’s accuracy and reads were remarkable all season, and was the key factor in his team’s success this year, going 10-0 in the regular season. When Iggy is on his game, Kiss My Inlaws are clearly unbeatable.
Despite playing one game less than the league’s usual 10-game schedule, Iggy’s 9 exceptional performances were undeniably enough to still win him the award. His ability to evade rushers and find open receivers, set him far apart from the rest of the quarterbacks in the division. His leadership, play calling and celebrations on the field are evident, as his team rallies behind him and found success under his guidance.
This award is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the game. He truly deserves this award and should be proud of his accomplishment regardless of the outcome of their season. Congratulations once again to Iggy Manzanedo on a fantastic season and being named the Division 4 QB of the Year.
Receiver of the Year: Cooper Young- Trapstars
Congratulations to Cooper Young, for being selected as the Division 4 Wide Receiver of the Year award! This season will mark a 3rd all star and 3rd yearly award Cooper has won since entering the league in 2020. Cooper had an phenomenal season, leading the league in receiving touchdowns with 20. He was an absolute stud for his team’s offense and a key factor in their success they have enjoyed thus far.
With 630 receiving yards, Cooper ended the season as the second-best in the division. His speed, agility, and ball skills made him a nightmare for opposing defenders to cover. Cooper has the ability to find open spaces in the defense and make tough catches in traffic with his long frame. Cooper had a remarkable and will look to continue his pace here in the playoffs.
2-Way Player of the year: Guillaume Ranger- Martine et Le Flag
Congratulations to Guillaume Ranger on being named the Division 4 Two-Way Player of the Year! Many people regard this award as the most prestigious as you are considered the best player on both sided of the ball. Ranger’s outstanding season was nothing short of impressive, as he proved himself to be a force to be reckoned with on offence and defence. On the offensive side, Ranger was a key target for his QB, finishing the regular season with 19 receiving touchdowns and 580 receiving yards, putting him among the league’s top receivers. His ability to create separation from defenders and make clutch catches in crucial situations was a major factor in his team’s success. But Ranger’s contributions didn’t stop there. He was equally dominant on defense, recording six interceptions throughout the season, and returning three of them for touchdowns. His ability to read the opposing quarterback’s throws and make game-changing plays helped his team secure key victories and establish themselves as a top 8 in Division 4 with a 7-3 record. Ranger’s performance this season showcased his versatility and skill as a player. He proved he was the best offensive and defensive player in the division this season Congratulations once again to Guillaume Ranger on this well-deserved award. He will no doubt continue to be a dominant force in the Division 4 playoffs

4th & Shlong (7-3) vs Trapstars (7-3)
As the FPF playoffs continue to heat up, I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming matchup between 4th & Shlong and Trapstars. I think this game will come down to the wire as both squads are fairly evenly matched. Both teams finished the regular season with identical 7-3 records and their offences have carried the load of their wins. These teams have not faced each other yet, making this game an exciting game
4th & Shlong will be looking to their star quarterback, Michael Caparelli, to lead them to victory. Caparelli has had a stellar season, leading his team to a solid record and putting up impressive numbers. He is in the discussion for a division 4 all-star selection, but he knows that his performance in this playoff game will be critical if he wants to be considered one of the league’s best quarterbacks. On the other side, the Trapstars will be relying on the connection between their quarterback, Ryan Garber, and Wide Receiver, Cooper Young, to produce points on the board. Garber and Young have been an unstoppable duo this season, connecting for over 20 touchdowns and proving to be a nightmare for opposing defences.
One thing i’m keeping my eye on for this game in the matchup between Caparelli and Garber. This QB battle promises to be one of the most exciting of the entire season. Both quarterbacks have had impressive seasons and will be looking to lead their teams to yet another win. It will be interesting to see which team’s defence can try to neutralize the other’s quarterback and come out on top. We can expect an intense and highly competitive game as 4th & Shlong and Trapstars battle it out for a spot in the semifinals. Who will come out on top and move one step closer to the championship? My prediction is that the trapstars win in a high scoring nail bitter 48-46.
