Peeze’s Playbook: Division E/E2 Quarter Final With Cheese
Peeze’s Playbook
Quarter Finals
By Paolo Della Rocca
It’s the playoffs…here are the keys for success for each of the teams involved.
Division E2
Mambo vs. Nemesis
- Neither team was particularly challenged in their first game. However, Nikki Papich looked a lot more calm and composed than Emile Janda. Niki Papich will recognize where Mendy Cardichon is on defence and has enough weapons to take advantage of lax defence. On the other side, Eile Janda needs to lay with the same poise that he does across the field as he does in the red-zone.
- The top end talent of Nemesis may actually be better than that of Mambo. I mentioned Mendy Cardichon but I believe that Arnaud Prince-Duthel will need to be the key to success offensively for a team that will need big plays. Emile Janda will need to clear deep and attack the intermediate zones.
- The redone defence for Mambo may or may not get a gift playing against Emile Janda. However, if Mambo really want to get the upper hand they want to shut down the typically methodical Mambo offense.
Prediction: Mambo 26- Nemesis 12
Brewers vs. Lionhearts
- Man, I don’t know what to make of this game. I legitimately am proud of the improements made by both of these teams. I don’t know who’s playing quarterback for Lionhearts and I don’t know who I actually am cheering for in this game.
- Jeffery Lefevbre needs to play a smart game. Either Emilio Greco or Chris Rose will likely make mistakes. Therefore, given that the defence should give them some extra possessions, he just needs to make sure that he plays a more efficient game.
- In the end James Moulton will need to contain either QB. Both do like to move and Moutlon will be tested.
- For Lionhearts, I like Anthony Iannancronz (aka MF Jones) will need to be the key in helping Lionhearts earning first downs that will keep the ball moving.
Prediction: Brewers 25- Lionhearts 18
Clinkers vs. Thundercats
- Clinkers are really good. Max Ledoux is a very good rusher. The team has a lot of quickness and that will present an issue for Thundercats. If Marc-Andre Desaulniers bothers to show up, he will need to find ways to keep Thundercts off balance because they do adapt better than expected.
- Thundercats QB Xavier Tardif needs to pick on Alexi Dubois. He is a talented, young, FPF player. That said, his inexperience is obvious and often gives away his coverage too easily. He doesn’t flash an return with grace and tends to shoot too hard on flood concepts.
- Last game, Thundercats spread the ball efficiently, Clinkers however won’t provided the same kind of matchups across the field. My question for Thundercats is who will step up?
Prediction: Clinkers 38- Thundercats 12
Blackouts vs Canes
- This is a game between upstarts. I have been high on Blackouts all season. Julien Lachance wasn’t there last week and Chris Cione filled in admirably. Still I feel like having him as a receiver will better fit his skill set.
- Canes defence led by Charles Vinette beat Green Means Go but I don’t think they have the athletes to play man all game against Blackouts!
- A pick six by Ludvic Blain was the difference last week. However, this time around I’d like to see Francis Lanctot play a clean game this week.
Prediction: Blackouts 19- Canes 6
Division E
Jean Guy vs Pardon My Swag
- Last week, PMS had a dream matchup in Mean Machine. This time around however, they have a tough matchup against a phenomenal defence. Simon LaPorte is the real deal. He’s great at cutting off angles and removing a passing window. This is something “Flamingo” Brad Evans will struggle with.
- Sion Provencher struggled to throw touchdowns this season. He avoided interceptions while not being remarkably efficient at scoring. He threw 5 touchdowns only once this season and that will affect him at some point. This may be that game.
- For Pardon my Swag, I think Brad Evans will need to play a fast paced offense will keep Jean Guy off balance. This will be their key to success.
Prediction: Jean Guy 19- Pardon My Swag 14
X-Terminators vs. Bud Knights
- The soft spot against X-Terminatrs is the intermediate zones in the middle section of the field. The question is whether or not Mathieu Kieljan is disciplined enough to attack that part of their defense. The experience of Stephen Harripersaud will help for certain. However, he needs to convey how to best exploit the defence in a way that his quarterback can understand.
- The height and size of X-Terminators is something they cantata advantage of. Alex Finkelstein specifically can absolutely provide a challenge for Bud Knights, specifically in the redzone.
- Ryan Cattle has been the frontrunner on this defense. This is the kind of game where we need the stars to shine and he’s the stud on the X-Terminator dude ranch. If he can make some plays on defence X-Terminators may be in good shape.
Prediction: Bud Knights 24- X-Terminators 19
Threat Level Midnight vs. Tough Lungs
- Last week saw Greg Kritselas go off for Tough Lungs. This was a great to see in that we’ve always criticized Matthew Lerner for leaning too heavily on his brother Justin. It was great to see him use all of his pieces in this game. I think this may continue to be their key to success for the rest of the post season.
- Tough Lungs success will also hinge on how difficult Olivier Doleyres can make Jo Lemieux’s life. He is a tall and effective rusher and I think he will need to play a big roll in this game.
- Alex Guertin is a great redone target for Threat Level Midnight. Given that Justin Lerner will look to take away the top threat I don’t know if anyone will be able to deal with Guert’s size.
Prediction: Tough Lungs 26-Threat Level Midnight 25
Trailer Park Boys vs. Los Banditos
- The weakness of the very agressive Trailer Park Boys defence is the slot/intermediate area. It’s something they have not yet learned to defend. Can Francis Desrochers exploit that? This will play a part in whether or not Los Banditos can get the win. Los Banditos run a slant and fly heavy offense that TPB work tirelessly to stop.
- Will Richard is a very good. Rusher and he will prevent Francis Desrochers from being able to buy time. The winner of this matchup should represent the winner in the game.
- These two teams have obvious strengths. Vincent Benjamin is an unstoppable force and the team that needs to keep the game to under 3 scores. A low scoring game favours Trailer Park Boys otherwise it’ll be a Los Banditos win.
Prediction: Trailer Park Boys 20-Los Banditos 18
