Looks like we made it! An ECLIPSE to end the Co-Ed Season!
The end is here! The last week of the regular season! After a confusing 13 weeks of cancellations, crazy weather, and upsets, we have finally made it to the final games (or 2 if you’re THUNDER VILLAINS, PERFECT STRANGERS, and DREAMKILLERS). There were some expected finishes and some not so expected finishes. We will take a look back at my predictions to see how teams fared while also seeing if we can predict our 2 finalists of the season!
For the teams who have finished all their games already – Great job and Good luck in the postseason! For all the rest of us: Buckle Up! Just because playoffs are set in stone, doesn’t mean your seeding is! With the first 4 teams getting a BYE week, it might be a while before AT LEAST WE TRIED and HALF N’ HALF take the field again. Will the few weeks off hurt them, or simply make them stronger?!
Let’s Dive in and check out some potential playoff matchups:
FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH:
- AT LEAST WE TRIED took out BLOCK PARTY in week 10 as predicted and then played 2 games in Week 11 – both of them wins. 8 games into the season and they still haven’t allowed 100 points on defence! A truly spectacular performance! Next week they will have to go against the new and improved HALF N’ HALF, which will truly be a clash of the titans!
- With 4 games left to play THUNDER VILLAINS have a chance to go 9-1. They will have to prove themselves against BANDIT(E)s and AIGRE-DOUX, 2 teams that have passed BLOCK PARTY, and are currently hunting for a top 4 spot and bye week. If they lose against AIGRE-DOUX, they will be knocked down to 4th place (with the assumption that they beat ECLIPSE), and any other win will most likely prevent them from finishing in the top 4. THUNDER VILLAINS have a strong team and should be able to pull through the last slog of their schedule with only 1 loss, but I worry that their continued reliance on the Jeremie – Terry wombo combo may start becoming too predictable….. But, also maybe, it’s just that GOOD!? Let’s see how the VILLAINS bring the THUNDER this week and start their gauntlet against ECLIPSE.
- FLAMINGOS got their first win against DREAMKILLERS in Week 10! With games against PERFECT STRANGERS, AIGRE-DOUX, and AT LEAST WE TRIED, it will be a struggle for the FLAMINGOS to get another win. But that’s what they’ll need to do if they want a chance at escaping the Elimination Zone and passing SHOW ME YOUR TDs. SMYTDs were beaten by A.L.W.T. last week and are playing P’TITS VITES this week, so, also have a chance to get a second win and put them out of risk of being bumped down. Everything is coming to a close as the season wraps up, Week 12 is underway and the fight to the finish is real.
- Every season the top players are highlighted and talked about in articles, and although we may try to give a shout out to everyone, sometimes we miss. So today is an honorable mention for those awesome players who get the job done, but aren’t in the Top 5:
- Will Champagne is my first shout out of the day. While FLAMINGOS have been struggling to get out of the Elimination Zone, Will Champagne has been putting up some IMPRESSIVE numbers! Being a Top 10 offensive player while your team has only won a single game is a great performance in my books! 7 TDs and 197 yards in 16 catches means that almost every 2nd catch for Will is a TD! Let’s see if he can keep his pace up for the last 3 games.
- Although Noémy Fortin Hurtubise is the lead for Female QB, Chelsea Britton has been doing a great job in keeping up with the top 10. With 16 TDs, 103 Rushing Yards (#8 Overall), and with only a handful of sacks and INTs, Chelsea has the chance to push into the 20+ TD range in the next 2 games and have a truly amazing season!
- ECLIPSE has run the gambit of the top team: HALF N’ HALF, AT LEAST WE TRIED, BLOCK PARTY, AIGRE-DOUX, and are playing THUNDER VILLAINS and the TOTS in their last 2 games. They were almost able to take the win over PERFECT STRANGERS last week, but fell short 20-25 (Damn 10:30 games…). With 2 wins, they should be guaranteed a playoff spot… but I would rather be safe than sorry and get their win against THUNDER VILLAINS this week. The team has struggled to put up more TDs than turnovers, so will need to focus on lowering turnovers and taking their time on offense. They have a lot of talent on this team, so will need to rely on their defense and female players to continue to allow Dov Vas chances to score.
- Out of nowhere! DREAMKILLERS almost overtook HALF N’ HALF! On a last second TD, HALF N’ HALF were able to take the lead and put the game away 30-26 and keep their lead going! With AIGRE-DOUX coming up next, will DREAMKILLERS be able to keep the momentum going?! Noémy Fortin Hurtubise was on a tear with 4 TDs, 190 Yards and only 1 Turnover! Finishing 4-6 would give them better seeding and a much better shot of not facing a top team right away!
- P’TITS VITES take on SHOW ME YOUR TDs this monday. As each team is trying to put some distance between themselves and the bottom spot, this game might determine who gets the 10, 11, or 12th spot. P’TITS VITES have more than double the points scored that SHOW ME YOUR TDS has: 177 vs 80. Chelsea Britton has the edge over Antoine Levesque in this encounter and defensively P’TITS VITES have a decent amount of PICK-6’s that should make any team pause. Ultimately, SHOW ME YOUR TDS is the underdog here and will need to pull out all the stops to finally find their 2nd win, because I don’t think it’s coming from PERFECT STRANGERS.

A LOOK AT THE PAST:
PERFECT STRANGERS – Prediction: 6-4 // Current Record: 3-6
Well! Starting off with a swerve! I thought this team would finish in the top 5, but they are currently fighting for the 8th spot. Although they may not have gotten the 6 wins I predicted, they still had a pretty good season, and have a chance to get their 4th win this week! A lot of talent on this team that does not show in their record – Renée Kosikowski with 11 sacks, Alexandre Meunier on offense with most yards, receptions, and TDs, or even Antoine Meunier himself who has done an excellent job at QB keeping sacks and INTs under double digits! I’m excited to see what this team can do in the playoffs.
.
AIGRE-DOUX – Prediction: 3-7 // Current Record: 7-3
Ok. I was definitely off my rocker with this prediction! What I thought was a brand new team that would take a season to find their groove, showed right out of the gate that they meant business! Sitting in the #4 spot (earning themselves a first week bye), AIGRE-DOUX have been tearing through the division – only losing to top 5 teams! Julien Proulx was able to finish among the top 3 QBs, all while spreading the ball on offense – Morgane Le Foll and Chloe Simard are the top targeted receivers for the team, but all receivers had a handful of TDs. Everyone should be worried about playing AIGRE-DOUX in the playoffs, however, they will need to find a way to stop AT LEAST WE TRIED if they want a chance at the finals! Check this team to be among the final 4!
.
BANDIT(E) – Prediction: 2-8 // Current Record: 7-3
I don’t think I like the trends my predictions are going in! I dropped the ball with BANDIT(E)S and obviously, they have been taking Win after Win against a mixture of stronger and weaker teams. Even though I called out all the talent on this team in week 1, I hesitated in how they would be able to perform together. Jules Fortin and Xavier Parent were definitely the tag team duo of the season, and it shows in their stats: Jules Fortin has brought in 15 TDs and 413 yards! They are currently the #2 team and should be anxiously waiting for the results of the THUNDER VILLAINS game to see if they get to keep that spot or bumped down.
.
ECLIPSE – Prediction: 7-3 // Current Record: 2-8
I thought ECLIPSE were going to be the team that AIGRE-DOUX are currently. It was a brand new team that had some veteran experience and unfortunately have been unable to find their groove. Having played them in one of our last games, I can say that they do have a talented squad that can make moves! Dov Vas is definitely a speedy QB that can move the field with his legs if needed, but can sometimes feel the pressure and turn over the ball at pivotal moments. Hopefully ECLIPSE can rally in the postseason, but regardless of what happens, if this team sticks together, they can make a big splash in Co-Ed 3 next season! If Matthew Peacock and Cyrill Jamal Belfort stay on the roster we could see the core of a strong team, however, they will need to utilize their female players more than they have if they want to truly find success!
.
FLAMINGOS – Prediction: 2-8 // Current Record: 2-8
I DID IT! A prediction that actually came true! But sadly, it was a rough prediction… FLAMINGOS had a rough goal of things, only beating DREAMKILLERS and PERFECT STRANGERS – which I totally called in the last CALLING THE AUDIBLE – to secure their spot for the playoffs! Allyson Sobol went 21 TDs / 21 INTs (a 1:1 ratio) which usually is a death sentence for a team, but FLAMINGOS were able to pull it together thanks to wonderful performances from Catherine Denault-Cardinal, Will Champagne, and Etienne Grenon (Special Mention to Leanne Majeau)! They will be looking at an uphill postseason battle as they probably take on HALF N’ HALF in the first round. GOOD LUCK!
.
P’TITS VITES – Prediction: 4-6 // Current Record: 3-6
Hey Lookie here! Another prediction that’s pretty close to reality. This team has been able to keep a positive +/- despite their losing record and are now fighting the aforementioned PERFECT STRANGERS for the #8 spot. Chelsea Britton has done a great job at being an efficient QB – 22 TDs, 8 INTs, 4 Sacks, and 131 Rushing Yards to top it all off. A scattering of Pick-6’s have really helped make the difference for this team and I can see them causing a few upsets in the first rounds of the playoffs! Defense has struggled to keep their opponents consistently under 4 TDs, but they have also had a tough schedule! Let’s see if they can kick it into second gear and live up to their name!
.
MICHAEL SCOTT’S TOTS – Prediction: 6-4 // Current Record: 6-4
Do I know my team or what!? Despite having a revolving door of QBs – Kenny Boutilier, Jean-Christophe Pelchat, and a few guest appearances from myself – SCOTT’S TOTS was able to scrounge together 6 big wins and finish just shy of the top 5! The team has got a combined 32 TDs between the 3 of us and a really solid Defense. Chloe Brazeau-Gelinas and Gabrielle Perucic have shown they can be 2-way playmakers, while Cristina Ionescu has proven her worth as snapper – bringing in the most receptions on the team! I don’t doubt we can make it through the first round of playoffs and am PUMPED to see how far we can get!
The rest of my recaps will be coming in this week’s article! Hold tight!
