Look at Us Now!
Week eight is in the books and the storm is settling. Like the great Jamaican reggae musician Jimmy Cliff once sang, “I can see clearly now the rain is gone”!
Quick Highlights:
-Wolverines made Clockwork work for the two points they ended up earning. This game was ultimately a 4 point swing for either winner, big conference win for Clockwork. Unfortunately for Marco Masciotra, the majority of his team was unable to make it to the game; it didn’t really matter he found himself some friends and bang… chemistry. The Wolverines were unable to capitalize on their opportunity to possibly climb all the way to second place in Conference A. Jamal Gittens carried the bulk of the load on offense, catching 6 balls for 80 yards and 3 touchdowns. Matt Kirouac continues to impress everyone; he is now making a case for two-way player in division 2. Raffi Kozanian did everything he could to help his team; he finished the night with a whopping 9 receptions for 98 yards.
-With Kevin Wyeth from ONS sidelined with a hand injury, Rochdi Benabdelkader took over the QB position for a very important Conference game against TMT. Rochdi didn’t impress but he did just enough to pull through for a key win. ONS seemed lost at sea defensively for the majority of the year and are now starting to tighten up. Unfortunately for TMT that’s where the curtain falls on the season. Hopefully these guys come back and take another crack at it this summer, they’re a great group of athletes!
-Les Monsieur Chats keep their hopes alive with a colossal win over Wolfpack. The defense clocked in 3 interceptions, which made the difference in the end. When you win the turn over battle and manage the clock accordingly, you should always find yourself in the driver’s seat.
-Nathan Taylor was missing his number one target in Adam Bailey and Flag Football Fantasy still managed to beat Shakalooinz. At this point I don’t even think Nathan should give Benny the ball back if he’s healthy. When you have a stud like Taylor you activate him before the game and you deactivate him when he lies down in his bed at night. Can’t say Shakalooinz didn’t have their fair chances at changing the outcome here. Dropping an interception in the red zone is definitely not what you need to do to be victorious.
-Cold Fusion opened up a can of whoop-ass on #NoRegard. This game had very little importance to either team but it’s never fun to be on the receiving end of a one-sider. James Floreani will have the whole off-season to adjust to the higher quality defenses he’s faced in D2. The only real positive in this game is that no one got hurt!
-CLR Forces finally proves they can stand in the ring with a decent opponent! Served With Ice isn’t looking too good heading into the playoffs: Tony Desmond missed another game this week and that means he won’t be legible for the playoffs. The help they’ve received lately from Alex Pilon is another beast they won’t be able to count on going into the playoffs. CLR is playing some really good ball as of late; their defense is very impressive. CLR is a team everyone should keep at least one eye on.
-One thing we have not mentioned this year is the fact that the teams with losing records are still coming out and and putting up a good fight. Even worse than a lack of effort is a no-show; there is nothing worse than going to the field late on a weeknight and your opponent is a no show. On that note, BC et Les McGonagals should be commended, despite being defeated heavily on Monday, 48-12 to the Legends. Corey Pecker is having a stellar year; he will definitely be in the talks when choosing the QB of the year wiiner.
-Patrick Chenard threw a late pick in his own rezone to give Usual Suspects a chance for victory late in the game. Fortunately for Chernobyl Circus, Leon Holder was unable to connect on any throws and CC held on. That basically sums up Usual Suspects season in a nutshell. Sean Kennedy had himself quite an outing: 8 receptions for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns, just unable to get the one that mattered most. Maxime Giroux had his best game of the season offensively, he caught five balls for 96 yards and 4 touchdowns, quadrupling his TD total on the season.

Division 2 Freak of the Week: *For players who do not play in division one
QB: Cory Pecker ~17/27 for 194 yards and 7 TDs~ I may be wrong but I believe this is Cory’s first appearance on the list of weekly FREAKS! I can say by experience that this is well deserved.
WR: Maxime Giroux ~5 receptions for 94 yards and 4 TDs~ Not new around here but not usually recognized for his offensive talents!
DB: N/A
R: N/A
That’s two weeks in a row where there is no DB or R freak of the week form this division. C’Mon man! Step up your game!
My picks Division 2:
Chernobyl Circus (+5.5) VS Clockwork
Cold Fusion (-7.5) VS TMT
BC et Les McGonagals (+9.5) VS Gladiateur
O.N.S. (-2.5) VS Wolverines
Les Monsieur Chats (-4.5) VS Usual Suspects
Flag Football Fantasy (-1.5) VS Legends
#NoRegard (+1.5) VS The Comission
Served With Ice (-3) VS Wolfpack
CLR Forces (-4.5) VS Shakalooinz
Last week I was 9 for 9, allow me to give myself a tap on the back. That makes me 46 in 63 on the season. If anyone wants to speak to Mise-O-Jeu and get FlagPlus on the books I’ll sell my picks 😉
Playoff Picture Division 2:
Here are the rankings by conference and in detailed what your team needs going forward. I will give you a best and worst case scenario depending on your future outcome.
Conference A:
1- **Cold Fusion 8-1…16 PTS
Best case: (1st) You have already clinched first
Worst case: (1st) Even if you lose and Clockwork wins, you hold the head to head advantage.
2- *Clockwork 7-2…14PTS
Best case: (2nd) Win next week and you will finish 2nd
Worst case: (3rd) Lose to Chernobyl this week and you guys will swap positions in the rankings
3- Chernobyl Circus 6-3…12PTS
Best case: (2nd) Beat Clockwork this weak and you will bunny hop them in the rankings
Worst case: (3rd) If you lose and Wolverines win, you hold the advantage over them, therefore you cannot drop in the rankings no matter what.
4- Wolverines 5-4… 10PTS
Best case: (4th) Win and you will retain your position
Worst case: (7th) If you lose you will ultimately be giving the advantage to O.N.S. If you lose and Wolfpack wins, they will take the 6th seed and you will drop from 4th to 7th.
5- O.N.S 5-4… 10 PTS
Best case: (4th) Beat Wolverines and or tie, you will finish 4th
Worst case: (6th) If you lose and Wolf pack wins you will drop to 6th.
6- Wolfpack 4-5…8PTS
Best case: (6th) Win this week and you are locked at 6th no matter what.
Worst case: (7th) If you lose and both TMT and Les Monsieur Chats win, you will drop to 7th because the tie breaker for a three way tie is divisional record. If you lose and LMC win, you will drop to 7th. Because you hold the advantage over TMT the only way they affect you is if you lose and they create a three-way tie with LMC.
7-Les Monsieur Chats 3-6…6PTS
Best case: (6th) I you win combined with a loss from Wolfpack you will take over 6th place. If you win, TMT wins and Wolfpack loses, you will finish 6th due to the tiebreaker being divisional record.
Worst case: (9th) If you lose and both TMT and Usual suspect win, you will drop to 9th.
8- ^TMT 3-6…6PTS
9-^Usual Suspects 2-6-1… 5PTS
Conference B:
1- *Legends 7-2…14PTS
Best case: (1st) win and its all yours
Worst case: (3rd) If you lose to FFF and CLR wins you will drop to third. If you Lose and CLR loses, you will drop to second. If you lose and CLR ties, you will finish 2nd.
2- *CLR Forces 6-2-1…13PTS
Best case: (1st) If you win and Legends lose you will finish first.
Worst case: (4th) If you lose and both FFF and Gladiateurs wins, you will drop to fourth. If you win and Legends win you will stay in 2nd. If you Tie and Legends lose you will drop to third.
3- *Flag Football Fantasy 6-3…12PTS
Best case: (1st) If you win and Glads lose, its yours. If you win and Glads win, you need a better PA which you’ll most likely have.
Worst case: (4th) If you lose and Glads win you will drop to 4th
4- *Gladiateurs 6-3…12PTS
Best case: (1st) If you win and Legends lose you could potentially finish 1st depending on you’re PA
Worst case: (5th) If you lose and both FFF and SWI win you will drop to 5th. If you lose they both lose, you will keep your seat. In the scenario where FFF loses and SWI wins we will have a three-way tie. The tiebreaker is you’re divisional record, therefore you will finish 3rd.
5- *Served With Ice 5-4…10PTS
Best case: (4th) If you win and the Glads lose you will take 4th.
Worst case: (6th) If you lose and Shakalooinz win you will drop to 6th.
6- *Shakalooinz 4-4-1…9PTS
Best case: (5th) win and SWI loses, you will go up to 5th.
Worst case: (6th) Lose and you will stay stagnant.
……..
For everyone who is mathematically out: Id like to thank you for continuing to show up and be competitive. There is nothing worse than allowing a team to win by default. Make them earn their position in the playoffs and practice for the up coming season.
7- ^The Commission 1-6-1… 3PTS
8- ^#NoRegard 1-7…2 PTS
9- ^BC et Les McGonagals 0-8…0PTS
*Clinched playoff
**Clinched a first round bye
^Mathematically out
