Like it or Not (Div 3)
Week six is now history and the playoff picture is still a major blur. The level of competitiveness most definitely went up a notch this week. Some of you are feeling the pressure that is being applied by the teams on your tail. The next four weeks are going to be crucial for all of us. Division match-ups are must win games. The results of the divisional match-ups are the most important tie breaker when looking at conference rankings. If you haven’t already done so, it’s time to raise the standard of play to near perfection. As teams are now finding their groove, there will no longer be room for mental mistakes.
The outcome of the cap system that was put in place this season is most probably exactly what we all wanted. Out of the 28 teams in Div 3, only a handful of teams are mathematically out of the playoff race after 6 weeks of play. But hey, what would a perfect correlation between the cap system and parity be without a couple outliers.
Headlines:
- Arkham’s Gino Di Fazio put forth his best outing on the season against Legends. A season that has proven to be his toughest to date. Although he was unable to squeeze his first win out of this effort, I hope this game can shine some light on future success for Arkham.
- #NoRegard came out of the gates blazing against VPC. A 41-12 victory at this point of the season against a top caliber team is quite remarkable. Robby Robinson seemed to have no answer for the coverage against Akked Moore. It looked to me like Moses had a sole mission: To shut down Mr. Moore, and shut him down he did! He held Moore to 1 touchdown on 2 receptions and 9 yards. Robinson kept trying to squeeze the ball into airtight coverage. The outcome was two early turnovers, which deflated VPC’s balloon real fast. Can #NoRegard bring the same game next week against Les Monsieur Chat? I personally think they can, but once again only time will tell. VPC welcomes Sandlot Saints with open arms as their next math up. This should be a good one to bounce back after an atrocious week.
- Jonathan Collin led BIG TDS to a third win in a row. Collin threw for 6 touchdowns and also had one on the ground. Jamil Springer was on the receiving end of 3 touchdowns which gives him 9 on the season. Unfortunately for Full House, this loss will put an end to their playoff hopes. After having their first two wins taken away, BIG TDS now sit at 3-3. I have no doubt they will continue to win. They will most probably squeeze into the play-offs with either the 7th or 8th seed. If you’re one of the teams sitting at the top of the rankings, I’d start trying to figure out how you can avoid a first round match up against this team.
- Prestige World Wide VS Les Monsieur Chats was my game of the week. This game did not disappoint! I had LMC winning 32-28, the actual result was LMC 34-33. This game was played simultaneously to mine, on the field next door. I’m not going to lie I watched as much as I could when I had a chance. Both Quarterbacks were near perfect. Nicolas Centomo threw 5 touchdowns on 17 completions and 190 yards. Meanwhile, Alex Lever Threw 4 touchdowns on 20 completions and 168 yards. Anthony Comeau was Lever’s main target; he caught 10 for 83 yards and 1 touchdown. Comeau has 40 receptions on the season! (Who do you think you should cover?) It was Centomo’s recipe for success that was fruitful. His ability to spread the ball and always find the hole in your defense is very frustrating to play against. As predicted early on by yours truly, Les Monsieur Chat continue on towards a perfect season.
- Big win for KGP Champs! This win launches them to 6th place in Conference A. Unfortunately for AJ’s Fight Club, this loss drops them out of the standings, for now. There were a couple of questionable calls in this game that seemed to affect AJ’s Fight Club. Craig O’Brien would be the first to admit that he did not have a very good game and the lack of offense didn’t give his boys a fair chance at victory. Phil Cutler’s 4th passing touchdown at the end of the game was the insurance that wouldn’t be denied. Although O’Brien had an opportunity for the upset with one play left in the game, a miscommunication led him to throw the ball into no man’s land. Up next for AJ’s Fight Club is Moose, a must win game against a worthy opponent will set the tempo for the end of the season. KGP Champs takes on the Golden Eagles who are currently 0-6. This should be an easy win for KGP Champs.
- Marco Masciotra versus Daniele Gentile. What the heck happened? Masciotra’s worst offensive outing on the season was matched with his best defensive statistical game. Although he threw 3 interceptions, he also picked off Gentile 3 times. Gentile on the other hand was feeling very generous. He decided after two FREAKY weeks that he would spread the ball to the opposite team. I always thought you were a nice guy Gentile, but this was too much! 5 interceptions on the night doubles his season’s totals. Ocean’s Seven falls to 2-3-1 with two easy match ups in their last four games. I have both Clock Work and Ocean’s Seven making the playoffs.
- Moose adds to their season’s totals with a win over Hoof Hearted. Frederic Morissette and Gabriel Parent put their best efforts together to lead Moose to victory. Morrissette threw 7 touchdowns, 5 of which were caught by Parent. He also had 158 yards on 7 receptions, 5 tackles, 1 Pd and 1 interception. (FREAK) On the other side of the ball Edward Shoshan couldn’t stay perfect to keep his team in the game. The 2 interceptions he threw proved to be the back breaker. Hoof Hearted has a hectic schedule to finish up the season. They definitely have what it takes to finish up strong.
Top 3 Freaks of Week 3:
QB-Frederic Morissette (MOO)- 16 Completions for 256 yards and 7 Touchdowns. Freaky when it matters!
WR-Gabriel Parent (MOO)- 7 Receptions for 158 yards, and 5 Touchdowns. He’s a SUPER FREAK…SUPER FREAK
DB-Cedri Nuckle (MNG)- 3 Tackles and 3 Interception, all brought back to the house! Are you kidding me! Finally a well-deserved DB mention! FREAKKKK MODE ON!
R- Etienne Durot-Menard (CFG)- 4 sacks on any given night is appreciated by any defense! Welcome to the list of freaks!

My Week 7 Game of the Week:
(The Commission vs Big TDs)
Both teams sit at 3-3 so far on the season. This is a must win for both teams and a huge divisional game. They have been snuggling with each other in the standings since week 4 and after this week the winner will strengthen their chances at making the playoffs. The loser will be needing a lot of help to get back into playoff contention!
Key match ups in this game:
- Jonathan Collin VS Sean Avram: Avram’s 15 touchdowns and 9 interceptions against Collin’s 23 touchdowns and 8 interceptions gives Collins a slight edge. The edge doesn’t lie in the numbers but more in the receiving cores. Collin has a much more athletic bunch of receivers to throw to than Avram. 1-0 Big TDs
- D VS D: Big TDs has allowed 164 points while The Commission’s defense has aloud 125. Both defenses have 10 interceptions combined but Big TDs has 5 more passes defended. The difference here lies in whoever rushes for The Commission VS David Cesari’s rush. I give a slight edge to The Commissions defense.1-1
- O VS O: On one side we have a dual threat in Springer and Smith against a collective effort on offense for the Commission. Although anyone from Big TDs has the ability to make plays, Smith and Springer together have 609 yards and 18 touchdowns (collectively around 70% of the offensive numbers). The Commission receivers together don’t even match the dual threat numbers! I’m strongly leaning towards Big TDs speed and athletics ability on this one. 2-1 Big TDs
My prediction: Big TDs take this one 26-22
