Inside the Redzone (Div C) – Week 2

A full two weeks are in the books and I have learned the following: Expect the unexpected. Didn’t I say last week that everything in Division C tends to even out? That we shouldn’t spend our time worrying about balancing the FPF universe? Point Point suffered an embarrassing loss last Sunday at the hands of the Cobras which further proves that no team can guarantee themselves a spot in the finals. As per Moe Khan’s percentages, there is a 92.7% chance that we will not see a team go undefeated this season and a 98.4% chance that we will not see a team go perfect a la Warriors. Since it is too early to know who will make it to the big dance, let’s look at what is happening in the world of FPF.

Around The League

A big shout out to Cody Hemsley who was extremely disappointed in his week one performance (only 1 passing touchdown) and rebounded last week by having a solid outing; way to go young man. He had the following post-game comments “The playbook has been made and defense is making strides. Once we click, we can be elite in div C. We’re all best friends but don’t get it twisted, we play to win. So we’ll put in the work and you’ll see the record.

Also, the Cobras showed they don’t need Alex Lever in the trouncing of Point Point. They played with heart, chemistry, togetherness and most important ferocity. They wanted to make a statement that they’re the top contenders in Division C; way to go Green Men.

If the Trojans are excited about a win against the Jets, don’t get too ahead of yourself because you’re facing a revamped Titans team this Sunday and then the potent Cobras the week after. Surely the talent is there but it has been there for quite a few seasons now. Until you guys start showing that you’re a serious contender, which shouldn’t be too hard, I will label you guys as pretenders until further notice.

I am calling it now and you heard it here first, Terror Squad will be the team to watch this season. Led by QB Tam Vilaydeth, they’re a squad that possesses a lot of athleticism. From what I understand, the team is composed mainly of tackle players who are showing the flag world that they’re ready to dominate. Among the familiar faces are Alexandre Giroux and Maxime Paterson from Triple Sixers. At 2-0, their two out of the next three opponents (FOTC & MMM) will be their opportunity to stand above the rest. Captain and leader Tam Vilaydeth was unavailable for comments

On the other side of the spectrum, Vicious Canucks, Titans and Briscoe High Hawks are off to horrible starts but given the fact they’re all veteran teams, I know they’ll bounce back, but to what extent? Let’s be honest, Division C has a lot of new good teams so as I mentioned last week, one of these teams might not make playoffs and others might just crack the .500 mark. All three teams have a tough opponent this week so what happens to them if they go 0-3? Can all three miss playoffs? Only time will tell.

Grind My Gears

You know what really grinds my gears, players who aren’t just upfront about their intentions for the season. If you want to play in a lower division, then by all means go for it. No one is going to physically stop you from carrying out your wishes (At least not until Rostyn Castleton officially organizes a FPF Bouncers Club). Therefore is it really necessary to disguise your intentions? I mean who are you FOOLING? You are not convincing anyone but yourself. I would rather you say “I want to play in a lower division because I love it there and I can dominate.” I will have more respect for people who are at least honest and don’t hide their intentions. Just remember that in the end, you’re not FOOLING anyone. And that my friends, is what grinds my gears.
