From Upsets to Showdowns Round Two of Div 4 Starts Tonight!
The excitement continues to build in FPF as the playoffs for division 4 enter round two. Congratulations to the teams moving on. After a thrilling first round, the remaining teams are eager to continue their quest for championship glory. For the top 8 teams of the division their journey begins tonight. As the competition intensifies, everyone can expect to see some of the best flag football action of the season as the best teams battle it out on the field. The stakes are high as each team fights to keep their championship dreams alive, making for an intense and thrilling atmosphere in Laval. Luckily no division 4 games were effected by last weeks wild weather. Division 5 and 6 were affected by the ice storm as the Baie D’Urfe dome shut down before the games even begun and the games at Hebert were unfortunately interrupted at 9:48pm with a blackout. I am very eager to see what round two of the playoffs has in store for us in Division 4. So, buckle up and get ready for some heart-stopping action as the division 4 playoffs continue!

Top 5 Playoff Power Rankings
As the second round of the playoffs kicks off, several teams have emerged as favourites to take home the championship trophy. Here are my top 5 teams after round 1:
- Kiss My Inlaws – This team has been dominant all season, finishing with a league-best record of 10-0. Led by quarterback Iggy Manzanedo, The QBOTY favourite, Kiss My Inlaws boast one of the most explosive offenses in the league, averaging over 40 points per game. Their defense is equally impressive, giving up just 22 points per game on average. Kiss My Inlaws are the team to beat here in the playoffs, and they have their sights set on an undefeated season. Loup du Nord will be there first test of the post-season. How will they come out of last weeks rest?
- The R.E.E.T – This squad finished the regular season with a record of 9-1, and have been unstoppable all season only losing to Dime and Bougie. Led by quarterback Santino Sparagna, The R.E.E.T have easily one of the most athletic and explosive teams in the division. Their offense has been clicking on all cylinders, and their defense has been suffocating. If they keep their level of play, they have great shot at playing in the Finals as the #2 seed.
- Dime and Bougie: Dime and Bougie have had an amazing regular season ending with a record of 8-2. Not to mention they beat quality opponents on this list like The R.E.E.T and 4th & Shlong. Dime and Bougie have forced many turnovers and have capitalized on them with points all season. Jules Regimbald has played as good as any other QB in the division and if they can score anywhere near 5 Td’s a game this is a team that will be moving on to multiple rounds.
- Bruins – This team finished the regular season with a record of 6-3-1 but they have been playing their best football as of late. They are the only team on this list that did not finish in a top 8 seed. Led by quarterback Gab Wiseman or Kris Verreault the Bruins QB carousel hasn’t negatively impacted them surprisingly. The Bruins with Verreault under center won their first playoff game in convincing fashion against Friends with Danny by a score of 37-21. This squad may be overlooked as they did not get a first round bye or don’t have any players in yearly award races but they can compete against any team in the division. This Bruins team gave the undefeated Kiss My Inlaws a sweat as they almost pulled of the upset but fell short 43-38. Either way if they play that way against any team in Div 4 they can come away with a win.
- 4th & Shlong: Some may think that at 7-3 and the #5 seed should be enough to be placed higher on this ranking but I simply don’t see them winning past round two against any of these teams above them. Michael Caparelli is a top 5 QB in the division though so their offence hasn’t been an issue. Their Defence needs to prove this week that they don’t need to score 45 points to win every week.
Spotlight Matchup Previews
Trap stars vs. Hot Sauce Sports
As the Div 4 playoffs continue, I am eagerly anticipating the rematch between Hot Sauce Sports and Trapstars in the second round. These two teams faced off once during the regular season, with the Trapstars coming out on top 39-33. With both teams searching for a chance to move on to the next round, this game promises to be a intense nail bitter. Hot Sauce Sports come into this game with a respectable record of 6-3-1, having handled their business in the first round and beat Mengoose by a score of 32-13. They are a well-rounded team, with a solid offense and defense. Led by quarterback Peeze Della Rocca, Hot Sauce Sports have a balanced attack that can beat you through the air with short passes and Deep Balls if need be. Peeze has thrown for 44 touchdowns this season and an impressive . On defense, Hot Sauce Sports have been equally impressive as Will Power is the division INT leader with 8. The Trapstars, on the other hand, come into this game with a slightly better record of 7-3 and the advantage of home field. They have a high-powered offense that is led by their star wide receiver Cooper Young, who has scored an incredible 20 touchdowns this season. Young is a dynamic player who can beat you with his speed and crisp route running, and he will be a key player for the Trapstars in this game. In their previous matchup, the Trapstars were able to come away with a close victory over Hot Sauce Sports. However, Hot Sauce Sports will be looking to avenge that loss and prove that they have what it takes to make a deep playoff run and beat the some of the top 8 seeded teams. This game promises to be a hard-fought battle, with both teams leaving everything on the field in pursuit of victory. One key matchup to watch in this game will be the battle between Hot Sauce Sports’ defense and the Trapstars’ offense. Hot Sauce Sports will need to find a way to slow down Cooper Young and prevent him from scoring multiple touchdowns if they hope to come out on top. Meanwhile, the Trapstars will need to find a way to move the ball against Hot Sauce Sports’ stout defense and stay away from Will Power’s ball hawking ability. Overall, this game promises to be an exiting matchup between two evenly matched teams, too bad I wont have be able to watch this one as it will be at Stade Hebert. With so much at stake, both Hot Sauce Sports and the Trapstars will be giving it their all to try and secure a spot in the next round of the playoffs. Will Hot Sauce Sports be able to avenge their earlier loss and come away with the victory? Or will the Trapstars be able to fend of HSS attempt and move one step closer to the championship? I predict the trapstars to come away with a win. I have been a Hot Sauce Sports fan all season long but unless Peeze plays a perfect game I don’t see them coming away with the victory.
Wide Open bar vs. Bruins
All eyes are on the highly anticipated matchup between Wide Open Bar and Bruins. This game should be on everyone’s radar as our friends from calling the audible have proclaimed Wide Open Bar “False Kings” as their schedule has been on the lighter side. Wide Open Bar comes into this game with a record of 7-3, having lost their previous two games of the season. Despite their recent struggles, Wide Open Bar have a talented and fast team that like to push the ball downfield. Led by quarterback Jean Lussier, Wide Open Bar’s offense has been explosive this season, scoring an average of 29.5 points per game. On the other side of the field, Bruins come into this game with a close to identical record of 6-3-1. However, they have been on a hot streak, winning their previous four of five games of the season. Bruins have a skilled and veteran team, with a potent offense and an aggressive defense. Their defence has been led by Gab Wiseman who has been a menace at rusher grabbing 18 sacks on the season. However, they have been dealing with a quarterback controversy, as it remains unclear whether we will see Gab Wiseman or Kris Verreault under center for this game. Regardless of who starts, Bruins will be looking to continue their winning streak and prove that they still have what it takes to make a deep playoff run. This game will mark the first meeting of the season between these two teams, and both sides will be looking to make a statement. While Wide Open Bar has had strong offense, they will need to find a way to overcome their recent struggles and get back to their winning ways. Avoiding sacks and turnovers should be their focus. Meanwhile, Bruins will need to find a way to handle Wide Open Bar’s explosive offense and prevent them from scoring multiple touchdowns in the first half. Ultimately, the key factor in this game could come down to momentum. These teams are fairly evenly matched and any mistake can cost their team the game at this point of the season. With Bruins on a hot streak and brimming with confidence a fast start might put WOB in jeopardy. Given these factors, it is my prediction that Bruins will come away with the victory in this game. While Wide Open Bar has the talent to win, their recent struggles and the quarterback pressure Gab Wiseman profives give Bruins the edge in this matchup. We can expect an exciting and hard-fought battle between these two teams and I suggest everyone at the fields tonight to stay in and watch, but in the end, Bruins will likely emerge victorious and move one step closer to the championship.
