FPF News Reel
I had a children’s party to go to on Saturday. The party was scheduled for noon and I was annoyed. My friend’s kid is turning four. Actually he turned 4 a month ago, no fuss was made for his birthday until earlier in the same week of the child’s party for an out of season celebration of his living commencement.
Noon on a Saturday is the single worst time to host a party of any variety. Not only did I not have time to clean my house and buy groceries, we also had to spend the morning looking for a gift for a 4 year old child. The gift choices came down to a Thomas the Train play set, a remote control motorcycle and a costume of DC Comics’ The Flash.
Wanting to be helpful I texted my friend to see if he had bought his child a Halloween costume yet. With no response I made a business decision and took the costume. We left the store, armed with the costume and headed into the car. About halfway there I received a text that said, “He has two to choose from”. While scrambling to get wrapping paper and beers to bring to my friend’s party, I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. I checked the message that I had received and answered “well now he has three”.
Once my friend’s child opened his gift I made him decide which costume he would wear for Halloween. I suggested eagerly that the Flash was cool. So now my friend will be returning the two gifts he brought. I feel this is a fair exchange for planning a party for noon on Saturday.
Impressed / Disappointed
By Simon Dagenais
After last week’s success, we’ve agreed to bring back the segment for a second straight week. Hopefully it’ll last the season, but with Peeze in charge of this article, it’s as flaky as it gets.
Editor’s note: Peeze out numbers Simon in published articles 3:1 ;). Surprising given how little thought he gives his work (case in point, the introduction to his section).

Los Banditos: For a, somewhat, brand new team, there’s a HUGE difference in their week 1 and week 2 game. The offence got clicking and only lost by 1 point to the highest rated team in their Tier. I’m impressed |
Warriors: Controversy aside, looking at the game film and the stat sheets, it was a disappointing performance on both sides of the ball for a Warriors team that has a real chance to make noise in Tier 2. |
Trigger Happy Bunnies: I’ve touched upon this in my article, but THB is leaps and bounds beyond what I expected them to be at this point of the season. Serious contender in Tier 2. |
Diablos: They played a good squad, but came out flat all-around. With this much talent and experience on a roster, I’ve grown to expect good things from Diablos, but last week simply wasn’t one of those. |
BearSkins: After last week’s loss, I had them almost written off the preliminary rounds, but they came out swinging against a top tier team only to see the game slip away from them late in the second half. Nonetheless, they kept it much closer than people anticipated. |
NoName©: First time QB is a humbling experience and Sean Collins learnt that the hard way. Nonetheless, their defence couldn’t stop a nose bleed and I know, first hand, how talented NoName©’s defences usually are. After singing their praises last week, I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed in this week’s outing. |

A-Squad: They lost to one of the best teams in the tournament but kept pace in the first half where they were down 24-18 and Corey Walwaski was trading punches with FPF star quarterback Dan Lazzara. |
Smoking Axolotls: I don’t want to hear that they are a Div 6 team. Jason Rossie is a capable quarterback who’s not making use of his weapons. Getting blown out 42-6 is a colossal collapse considering I expected the game to at least be close in the first half. |
BearSkins: I was at this game and was thoroughly impressed. Marco Bertoldi was cutting in front of defenders to catch deep-ins and posts all over the field. As good as Bertoldi is, he’s incredible when he’s playing for the BearSkins. |
KGP RA: Yeah, you won…however, you got away with one. Phil Cutler took over at quarterback and was made to pay for two errant throws that were intercepted by Adam Rockman. KGP RA, I hope you enjoy the gift because the rest of this tournament won’t be that forgiving. |
Dad Bod Squad: DBS looked competent and poised for the duration of this game. The defense took away all of Francois Martin’s deep passes and Sean Avraam was nearly perfect. This team is deep and talented and probably one of the more entertaining teams to watch. |
Warriors: I’m disappointed in the team’s performance over all. However, I am more let down by their behavior on the field. A lot of what occurred is inexcusable. That, in itself would be disappointing but the lack of acknowledgement shows that they haven’t learned from their suspensions. |

FPF Daily Fantasy Football
By Paolo Della Rocca
FPF decided to capitalize on the popularity of Daily Fantasy Football. Simon, Francois and I will select a quarterback, 3 wide receivers, a rusher a defensive back (where only their defensive points will count) and a flex player who’s offensive and defensive contributions will count. Players weekly price will be determined by their cap hit +/- the spread in their games. Moreover, we cannot exceed a cost of 560 points.
This is a PPR league (Points Per Reception league) so, snappers you will not be neglected. The scoring breaks down as follows:
Quarterbacks: 1 point per 15 yards passing, 3 points per passing td, 1 point per 5 yards rushing, 5 points per rushing TD. -2 points will be deducted per interception and -1 point will be deducted per sack.
Wide Receivers: 1 point per catch, 1 point per 5 yards receiving, 5 points per TD
Rusher: 2 points per tackle, 7.5 points per sack, 3 points per PD, 5 Points per TD
DBs: 2 points per tackle, 4 points per interception, 3 points per PD and 5 Points per TD
