Final Whistle: The Dramatic Conclusion to Division 4’s Regular Season
Week 13
Welcome to the thrilling conclusion of the regular season in Division 4. With just one week left in the season, tensions are running high as teams scramble to secure the best seeding possible for the playoffs. The race for the last few bye week spots is on with several teams jockeying for better positioning and looking to gain every home field advantage possible. On the other hand, there are teams fighting for their very survival, hoping to avoid the bottom 8 of the division officially eliminating them from playoff contention. With so much on the line, this last week promises to be one of the most exciting and intense of the entire season. Let’s take a closer look at the matchups and storylines that will shape the outcome of this pivotal week in FPF.
Important matchups and storylines
- Only 6 games remain for the regular season to officially conclude
- Iggy Manzanedo reaches 2k passing yards and 55 passing touchdowns this season. HOLY S***.
- Top G’s and Mengoose have a chance to sneak into the playoffs with a win and some help/ losses from other teams
- Only 2 of my top 5 receivers have kept up their pace as Dante Sparagna and Nick Groppini still lead the pack in receiving yards and touchdowns!
- Vincent Benjamin has been the Convert King scoring 13 points off offensive converts and even took a 1 point convert interception to the house.
- Kiss My Inlaws, Dime and Bougie, The R.E.E.T, Martine et Le Flag, 4th & Shlong and Wide Open bar have all earned a round one bye week, which 2 teams will join them?
Spotlight Matchup Previews
Prediction record: 6-6
Golden Eagles (3-6) Vs. Voodoo (5-4)
The Golden Eagles need to be flying high heading into their crucial matchup with against Voodoo here in Week 13 of the season. With a record of 3-6, the Eagles are on the brink of playoff elimination, and a victory in this game is a must. The Golden Eagles have had a rollercoaster season so far, with impressive wins against Ball don’t lie and 4th & Shlong followed by tough losses to vultures and Still C.R.A. However, they have shown a never-quit attitude that has kept them in the playoff hunt until the very end. The offense for the past 2 games has been led by quarterback Francois Martin, who has thrown for 296 yards and 8 touchdowns and 4 INT’s. With a 1-1 record they haven’t gotten more production out of their new Qb as they hoped. Martin won’t be playoff eligible so I’m very intrigued as to what they will do if they come away with this win and make the playoffs. Assuming Martin starts this game as well, he will be looking to get the ball to his top targets, wide receiver Frederique Brunette who has Tallied over 500 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns through 9 games. On the other hand, the Voodoo are sitting at 5-4 and have already clinched a playoff spot, but they will be looking to rebound after a blowout loss to the Loup du Nord last week. I think Voodoo will need to rely on their defense, which has shown they can keep talented teams under 25 points on multiple occasions. Led by two way athlete Pat St-Amand, who has recorded 7 interceptions in just 6 games. His presence will be needed if voodoo wants to get a much needed win before playoffs begin. This matchup promises to be a thrilling one, with both teams fighting for different reasons. Golden Eagles will be playing with a sense of urgency, knowing that a loss will mean the end of their playoff hopes if Top G’s or Mengoose get a win in week 13. On the other hand, the Voodoo will be looking to bounce back from their loss and gain momentum heading into the playoffs. It will be interesting to see which team rises to the occasion and comes out on top in this important game.
Top performers of week 12
Qb: Iggy Manzanedo- Kiss My Inlaws
Im not sure what more I have to say other then 320 yards 9 TD’s.
Wr: Samuel Deland- In n’ Out
Samuel Deland, breakout star wide receiver for In n’ Out, delivered an unforgettable performance, finishing the game with an impressive 150 yards, 10 catches, and five touchdowns. He led all receivers in every category in week 12. Deland was on fire as consistently found openings in the defense, and caught everything thrown his way. I hope Deland’s confidence grew this week because he scored every touchdown that In n’ Out threw against a very talented The R.E.E.T defense. Deland’s left everything he had on the field that night, and his five touchdowns were a reflection of his relentless pursuit of excellence. Unfortunately Deland will only have one final game of the season for In n’ Out here in week 13.
Def: The whole Blue Dreamers defence
I think iv’e done a good job not talking about my team and being as unbiased as possible every week. But last week, the Blue Dreamers put on a defensive clinic in our latest game against Mengoose, allowing only six points in the game. The Blue Dreamers’ defense proved to be too much for Mengoose’s offense, as we forced six interceptions and two sacks while holding quarterback Oliver Turcot to only 78 yards passing. The Blue Dreamers’ performance on the field is just a testament to our hard work and resiliency. Every DB contributed to shutting down Mengoose’s passing game, leaving Turcot with no choice but to make desperate attempts to move the ball downfield. Nick Groppini hauled in 2 INT’s and took one to the house off a wild contested one handed grab. The defense played with intensity and passion, and will look to keep this level of play deep into the playoffs.
2-Way: Anthony Carbone- Hot Sauce Sports
Anthony Carbone, Wide Receiver and Defensive Back for Hot Sauce Sports has been named the top performer of the week with his impressive performance on both sides of the ball. Carbone finished the game with 50 receiving yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability find the endzone. His performance on offense helped lead his team to a solid win. But Anthony Carbone didn’t stop there. On defense, he was equally impressive, intercepting the ball twice and preventing the opposing team from making any significant progress. His ability to make plays on both offense and defense gave Hot Sauce Sports the well needed energy and momentum heading into the post season.
A look back at my pre season power rankings
- Kiss my Inlaws
- T.H.E R.E.E.T
- 4th & shlong
- Bruins
- Vultures
- Dime and bougie
I would say 5 of my top 6 teams were exactly what I thought they would be. Top teams, with some of the best offences the division has to offer. All of these teams currently own a round one bye except vultures. Their slow start to the season keeps them out of the divisions top 10 teams.
7. Blue Dreamers
Simply put, have not played our best football consistently throughout the regular season. Back to back 1 point losses in week 6 and 7 assured we would not be in the top 8 with a bye.
8. Ballz Deep
9. Bandits
10. Trap Stars
Ballz Deep and trap stars have both had successful seasons. There isn’t enough room for both of these teams in the top 8. Both these teams have a chance to sneak into the #8 seed and get themselves a round one bye. Their week 13 matchup will be the decider. The Bandits are 100% my biggest blunder of the season. I just expected so much more from this squad and they could not deliver going 1-9 on the season.
