Divisional Duels
Week 3
Welcome to another addition to tier 3. Were week in week 3 already where teams are starting to gain traction in their quest to championship Glory. These next few weeks are very important as rosters continue to take shape and its the best time for players and teams to try different things like lineups, positions and new plays. As always teams and players need 5 games played in order to be playoff eligible. We have a week full of great games and an especially a huge game of the week between the Deli Degens and Jagerbombers.
Weekly Storylines
Black Shinobi and West Island Boys start 0-2
The absence of Sammy Omombo has proved to be a big one as Black Shinobi that only lost 3 games all of last spring are already 0-2 here to start the fall season. Yvan Salomon kicked off the first 2 games with 5 tds and 4 INTs. These stats not too far off of what Sammy may have produced but the biggest difference is Sammy’s ability to rush the football and get INTs on defence. Mendy Joseph will need to be outstanding in order for this offence to get things goings and put points on the board.
West Island Boys are also with a new QB and haven’t been able to get a win through the first 2 weeks. Jerome Hovington was absent in their week 2 matchup against Bandits but Emile Skaf was perfect throwing for 5 tds and 0 INTs so I’m not sure how big of a difference Jeromes presence would have been. 0 INTS and 0 sacks with around 70 points against for their defence so they will have to switch some things up if they’d like to get into the win column. Luckily for them their week 3 matchup is vs a MOFOS team without Timeko Sanogo as he is busy suiting up for Univerisite de Montreal. I think WIB gets their first wins and finally get their first win with Jerome Hovington under center.
Cyrill Jamal Belfort and Jeremy Steinberg start off hot
As a rusher myself, I know how hard it is to run after QBs time and time again. The effort, quickness and durability it takes to rush not only week after week but season after season is extremely impressive. A good defence is only as good as their rushers and these defences are lucky to have rushers that give it their all every season. With 4 sacks a piece over 2 games these guys are on pace for a great season. The all star rusher race will be close all season. 2 sacks game might not seem like a lot, but over a 10 game season that carries over to a 20 sack season. 20 sacks is truly a tough task and is a legitimate elite season. Over 2 games these studs are on pace. The best way, don’t miss any games and keep hustling!
Game of the week
A Divisional Duel: Snowdon Deli Degens 2-1 vs. Jagerbombers 1-0
The Week 3 showdown between the Snowdon Deli Degens and the Jagerbombers promises to be a thrilling clash of divisional giants. This matchup pits two of the divisions most explosive offenses against one another, setting the stage for a high-scoring affair. These two offences were the best of division D last season where both teams ended up with over 7 wins and even saw Qb Adam Malinoff win Quarter back of the year.
At the helm of the Degens is Adam Malinoff, a quarterback who has been on fire this season. With 12 touchdowns and 477 yards in just three games, Malinoff leads the division in both categories. His ability to dissect defenses and find open receivers has made him a nightmare for opposing defenses. His ability to keep the chains moving is what allows him to orchestrate an amazing offence. The Jagerbombers counter with Felix Lajoie, a quarterback who has shown flashes of brilliance in his limited action. In just one game, Lajoie has thrown for 175 yards and five touchdowns, demonstrating his potential to be a game-changer. His speed and quickness makes rushers question their ability to play the position and he only got sacked a handful of times last season and I expect the same this season. Not only are the QBs of these teams some of the best in the division but they also have some of the best receivers as Lewis Epstein is averaging over 40 yards and 2 touchdowns every game.
While both teams have potent offenses, their defenses will also play a crucial role in determining the outcome any turnovers would certainly sway the outcome of the game. However, given the offensive firepower on display, it’s safe to expect a high-scoring contest. Las Vegas would set the over/under at 60.5, suggesting a minimum of 30 points from each team. The extra point conversions could be the difference-maker in this closely contested game. With both offenses expected to score frequently, the ability to capitalize on every opportunity will be paramount.
One last thing id like to note about this game is The Deli Degens are without last season 2-way player of the year Evan Shiveck. Evan had double digit touchdowns and almost reached 10 INTs on defence last season. Id like to see how his absence impacts the game vs a top team like Jagerbombers. Will the Snowdon deli degens keep their dominance or will Jagerbombers get their revenge. As much as my gut is telling me the Deli Degens are still the big dogs after going 10-0 last season, something tells me that Jagerbombers will get the W in a close afair. Give me Jagerbombers 38-36.
- Les Petites Carottes JR 1-0-1
Next game coming up against Mengoose and I predict a big win. This team tied bandits in week 2 and only face one team all year that I think can beat them.
2. Win Diesel 2-0
One of the tougher schedules in Tier 3 right now. They play West Island Boys, LPC Jr and Snowdon Deli Degens in the following 3 weeks. I still think this team is too talented and too experienced to fall out of the top 5 in the standings.
3. Jagerbombers 1-0
Game of the week here on Monday night as they face Snowdon Deli Degens. That will really tell him what these two teams are all about and how competitive I can expect them to be over the course of this season. QB Felix joie can move in the backfield and I expect every rusher to have a hard time containing him this season
4. Snowdon Deli Degens 2-1
Right underneath their next opponent in the Jagerbombers. Snowdon Deli Degens are 2-1 after taking down slippery slopes and Voodoo. Their last meeting vs Jagerbombers resulted in a win for the Deli Degens 33-20. Will we see a different outcome this season?
5. Penetrators 1-0
I dropped this team one spot. Nothing changed they just haven’t played another game. Get used to the Penetrators being in the top 5, it doesn’t look like they’ll have any loses until mid October.
6. The Process 2-0
A huge W for the process as they took down Team Ethnik last week. Noah Groper had a day after switching over to Wr this season and scored 2 tds with 70 yards. But really it was their defence that won them the game as they forced 6 INT’s.
7. Notorious C.I.G 1-1
Getting their 1st win of the season in a tight affair vs Show Me Dem TDies. Once again the George Spano and Joey Notaro connection proved to be too much for their opponents defence connecting for 2 tds and Joey even threw one. In my opinion, in respect with the cap, Notorious C.I.G is missing one more stud to make them a powerhouse team.
8. Bandits 2-0-1
One of the only undefeated teams with more then one game played this season. I have been impressed with the bandits so far this season. Scoring over 25 points in all three of their games so far. Their defence will need to improve if they want to compete with the top teams in the division. They haven’t been bad by any means but they have only gotten 2 Ints and 0 sacks in 3 games. Still I can see this team climbing the rankings.
9. Tune Squad 1-1
Another team that hasn’t played since my last rankings were released. They dropped in the rankings just because as I observe the other rosters, this team seems to lack what the there top 10 teams have…A WR1. Adam Antel will need to step up in this role as he has caught 11 tds in previous seasons.
10. Team Ethnik 2-1
A tough loss to the process and a bounce back win vs ball hawks. I hope this isn’t the story line for team Ethnik this season. Losing big to good teams and making up their stats/ wins against the lower end teams of tier 3. The season is still early but a 6 INT game from Benoit lawler CANNOT happen again.
