DIVISION 1 AND 2 FINALS PREVIEW
Finally we are here. It all comes down to the final two teams of their respectable division. As a player, I know how much fun this is for everyone who is going to part take in the final games. These are games you’ll remember for a long time. Whether they’re good memories is not is entirely up to you. From this point forward, the ball is in your court and you control its’ destiny. Seize the moment, because you never know when you will have the chance to be in a game like this again.
Recap:
Legends 20 VS Chernobyl Circus 39
I can’t say I was at all surprised by the outcome of this game. I might have been surprised by the sheer dominance shown by Chernobyl, but I didn’t expect Legends to be able to match-up well against Chernobyl. To make things worse for the Legends, Ryan Lellinowski was absent from this game. Ryan hurt himself in the quarterfinal game and was unable to participate in this game. Without his favorite target, Cory Pecker showed an inability to stay composed in the pocket. On numerous occasions, Cory made the wrong read and it cost him big time. Matt Bond picked him off twice and made him pay by bringing one back to the house. If Patrick Chenard continues to spread the ball to his open receivers and not force anything, I can’t see them in any scenario other then the one where they hold a trophy in their arms Sunday night in Brossard.
O.N.S 20 VS Clockwork 40
I told you once, I told you twice…don’t make me say it three times. You will not win a championship without a defense. O.N.S has proven me right once again. Marco Masciotra carved up their defense and then made huge stops on defense. Antonio Lanni picked off Kevin Wyeth’s first throw of the game. It was a rough night for Kevin who was often inaccurate. It’s rare to see Kevin struggle like he did Wednesday night. Clockwork held O.N.S. scoreless in the second half, which definitely says a lot. Their defense is fearless and isn’t scared of any challenge. Chris Pinsonneault was held to a single catch in this game for 8 yards. Clockwork will have their hands full soon enough with the Circus coming into town.
DK 27 VS D-Boys 24
Everyone thought I was crazy to pick against D-Boys. It was an uncharacteristic game for D-Boys who struggled on offense all night. Jamal Gitten looked fragile dropping numerous balls and getting an earful every time from DK’s defense. Theo Ojeaha also didn’t help his quarterback by letting him down on easy connection. Rochdi Benabdelkader started the game slow put picked up steam with his defense forcing turnovers. DK’s top two receivers in this game were Nicolas A-Hum and Patrick Chenard; two guys who regularly don’t get a lot of playtime in this offense. It goes to show you how deep DK is offensively. When you mix the speed with the size, DK’s offense looks to have every working part on point.
Got-Skills 31 VS Montreal’s Finest 30
Very impressive game by Got-Skills who showed up without key players such as, Corey Greenaway, Samuel Drapeau and Alex Blais (who missed his game for a Rihanna Concert). In the absence of such defensive gurus, JC Mercille put on his Superman cape. JC picked off Kevin Wyeth twice in the end zone and had 101 yards through the air and two touchdowns. One of the touchdowns came after a turover by Finest just before the half. The score gave GS the lead at half and they never looked back. It was a forgettable game for Kevin who missed on multiple occasions to convert extra points. Like I said earlier, it’s rare to see Kevin miss these throws, but two teams took advantage of it on Wednesday. Nicola Centomo had his best game of the season, and he’ll need more of that on Sunday if he wants to win another championship.
Game preview
Got-Skills VS DK
Last time these two teams faced off, GS took it by a score of 32-21. A game in which Nicola Centomo’s playbook became the only thing DK wanted to fight for. Ever since that game, DK has been on a stretch of dominant football. They haven’t loss a game since and are certainly looking for some revenge. Got-Skills isn’t stressed about the rematch. They are a team who have put very little pressure on themselves. Playing their first ever season in division one and making it all the way here is impressive to say the least. I don’t remember the last time we saw such a defensive battle in a final, but I’m excited for it. Will Rochdi be able to get going right away in this game? Whose defense is going to come out on top? Whoever wants it most will take the division. Finals always come down to willingness to leave it all on the field. Be accountable, be fast, be the best player you can be for your team.
Key players for Got-Skills: Nicola Centomo, JC Mercille, Eric Deschambault
Key players for DK: Rochdi Benabdelkador, Patrick Chenard, Serge Pilon
Prediction: DK 26 – Got-Skills 28
Chernobyl Circus VS Clockwork
When these two teams face off in week eight of the regular season, it was a defensive battle. Both Marco Masciotra and Patrick Chenard threw three picks and both QB’s completion ratio was awful. Do I see this game being any different? Heck no! Both squads are loaded with athletes. If I was in either QB’s shoes, I’m not sure where I would throw the ball. When I break down the match up, I gave an advantage to Chernobyl. Defensively, I have no idea if I can say that one team is better then the other. If I had to pick a quarterback, I’d have to go with Marco. So overall, I have a really hard time coming up with a solid prediction. Like I said on the podcast, this game is going to be the best one of the night. Which team will make more plays? I’ll be there to witness it all, so don’t let me down.
