Div D: Mid-Season Report Cards Part 2

Whats up div D, sorry for my very late part 2 of the not so mid-season report cards. My laptop charger broke on me and then my battery went bezerk and got fried. Mix in a few long weekend plans and here we are in week 8. Most of my analysis here is from week 7 only as these this is supposed to be an outlook on your team at the halfway mark. A lot has changed here in divison D and I cant wait to revisit power rankings and see who has been playing the best football in div D. But lets hand out the rest of these report cards! The Letter grading is as follows:

The letter grades correspond as so;

A – You’ve exceeded pre-season expectations.  I never would have thought the team in question would have performed this well.

B – The team is surpassing the expectations that I placed on them ahead of the season, or perhaps you meeting expectations with your record, but have won close matchups against tough opponents.

C – I was right, and the team is performing exactly as expected.

D- Your team has underperformed in comparison to pre-season expectations. You’ve probably lost matchups which your squad was favoured to win.

Vtown 3-4

I hate to see this team at 3-4. But their offence hasn’t been what it needs to be to compete with the top teams of this division. In their latest game versus Love Me Sexy their offence only scored 3 Tds while their defence scored 2. Their offence has also turned over the ball 4 times in their last 2 losses. Lucas Crivello has been a stud all season. Leading their team in touchdowns, receiving yards and Interceptions Lucas is able to do it all. This team will make playoffs but won’t like their seeding and in contrast to my pre season prediction I was wrong as I placed this squad #8 in my pre season rankings and looking at the rest of their schedule they will finish in the bottom half of the division.

Offensive Grade: D

Defensive Grade: C

Overall Grade: D

Mid Season MVP: Lucas Crivello

Predicted Final Record: 4-6

The Process 4-2

I placed this team #4 in my pre season rankings and they have been playing like a top 5 team in division D. Aside from their week three 1 point loss to Old Pats this team has been on fire. Their defence has been playing even better then I thought they would as they held some great teams like Jägerbombers and cookie monsters to 2 scores or less. Noah Groper has been throwing the ball well but I think if he can higher his completion percentage through their next 4 games their offence can get to new heights. Ariel Liberati has been their best player as he has scored 9 total touchdowns including 2 on defence and has been their leading receiver. Jerome Hovington has chosen Ariel to be the WROY on calling the audible a few weeks back and although I don’t think hell be able to to score enough touchdowns to win that award, he has been playing like one of the top receivers of div D.

Offensive Grade: C

Defensive Grade: B

Overall Grade: C+

Mid Season MVP: Ariel Liberati

Predicted Final Record: 7-3

Melons 4-2

Despite losing their last two games, Melons have been one of the bigger surprises of division D. Their offence has been averaging 28 points per game and haven’t turned the ball over much. Manny Bizogias has been great as he has already thrown for 1000 yards and 24 touchdowns. But still Justin Schwartz has been Melons Mid season MVP. Leading this team in all categories on offence and defence. With 6 Ints Justin is only 1 INT away from the division leaders. With only 4 games left I see this team finishing the season strong and a win versus Bandits would win them their division.

Offensive Grade: A

Defensive Grade: A

Overall Grade: A

Mid Season MVP: Justin Schwartz

Predicted Final Record: 8-2

Ball Hawks 3-3

Ball Hawks have been middle of the pack like I assumed the would be. I left this team off my top 10 pre season rings due to the uncertainty at quarterback and strength of schedule. After 6 games,  Richie Mondesir hasn’t played bad but the offence lacks scoring. In addition, even at 3-3 I don’t think Ball Hawks have beaten any good teams other then VTown last week. That game/ motivation needs to propel this team if they want to make a solid playoff run. Jean-Sebastien St-Arneault has been their MVP thus far. With 4 INTs and 3 of them going for scores, he has helped this team more then anyone get W’s and shut down opponents offences. I have to give this squad a C across the board as they are playing just under where I expected them to be but performing like I assumed they would nonetheless.

Offensive Grade: C

Defensive Grade: C

Overall Grade: C

Mid Season MVP: Jean-Sebastien St-Arneault

Predicted Final Record: 4-6

Black Shinobi 4-3

Like Melons, Black Shinobi has been another big surprise of the division. I assumed this team would be good but I was very hesitant to put them in my pre-seaosn top 10 as I was unsure of who Sammy Omombo’s surrounding cast would be and how they would perform. The team has been playing well together as no one player has really been the superstar. 5 different players have gotten interceptions and 3 receivers have have scored multiple touchdowns. I have to give their Mid-Season MVP honours to Samuel Omombo as he leads the team in INTs and pick 6’s. Sammy has been rushing the ball well as he runs around any rusher in Div D as good as anyone. If he can reduce his INT’s and punch in more red zone possessions, this can be a very good underdog team in the playoffs. They are performing much better then I assumed they would, especially defensively as they are averaging only 13 points against.

Offensive Grade: B

Defensive Grade: A

Overall Grade: B+

Mid Season MVP: Samuel Omombo

Predicted Final Record: 6-4

Hail Marty’s 2-4

From placing them #7 in my pre-season rankings, I also assumed this team to end the season 6-4, Hail Marty’s are 2-4. They have not been playing up to par and it shows in their inability to stop opposing offences. Before the season began, I did say that this team would have some trouble without Brandon Vickers and their offence is suffering without him. Anthony Moustache has been their Mid-Season MVP. 8 touchdowns on the season is twice as much as any other receiver on the team. He is also tied with Andrew Arseneault for most interceptions with 3. Anthony isn’t being targeted as much as some other teammates but he’s definitely the most effective so I would try to target him a lot more in the final 4 games of the season. Still having to play some tough teams like Notorious C.I.G and and GloGang, this team could be in jeopardy of not making playoffs.

Offensive Grade: D

Defensive Grade: D

Overall Grade: D

Mid Season MVP: Anthony Moustache

Predicted Final Record: 3-7

No Punt Intended 2-3

Overall I have to say this team is performing a little better then I thought they would after 5 games especially when looking at their 2-3 record. Being able to do the same throughout their remaining 5 games would end their season at a very successful 4-6. As I didn’t notice any higher division players on this roster I predicted this team to be at the bottom of the division fighting for a final playoff spot. While I don’t think this team has gotten any quality wins, I do think they are playing better then I expected them to. Unfortunately I don’t see them being able to beat many other teams as their only wins came against teams with a 1-5 record. This team still needs to face Ambush, Old Pats and Melons so they have to face the cream of the crop in division D through their final stretch. I assume No Punt Intended misses playoffs at 3-7, due to a tie breaker. Mason Miller for Mid Season MVP, as he leads all major categories.

Offensive Grade: B

Defensive Grade: C

Overall Grade: B-

Mid Season MVP: Mason Miller

Predicted Final Record: 3-7

LargeLifeStyle 2-5

Despite boasting an offense that has been converting on extra points, with only 16 touchdowns, Large Lifestyle’s stagnant attack has left much to be desired. Quarterback Tyler Grondin’s 15 interceptions raise concerns about ball security, stalling drives and handing momentum to opponents. This inconsistency has hampered their ability to build rhythm and capitalize on scoring opportunities. Their defense has held steady, but not enough to get them wins. Large Lifestyle has performed according to my prediction earning a C grade. I didn’t expect this team to have more then 5 wins and season end.

Jonah Lazarovitz: A beacon of hope. One bright spot for Large Lifestyle is Jonah Lazarovitz. Leading the team in both touchdowns and receiving yards, Lazarovitz has proven to be a reliable target and a consistent offensive threat. He is their mid season MVPThe remaining schedule presents a significant challenge. With games against strong contenders, Large Lifestyle faces a steep climb to reach the playoffs. A predicted final record of 3-7 reflects the uphill battle they face.

Offensive Grade: C

Defensive Grade: C

Overall Grade: C

Mid Season MVP: Jonah Lazarovitz

Predicted Final Record: 3-7

Bend Don’t Break 2-5

The aptly named Bend Don’t Break sits at a precarious 2-5 record. While their offense has impressed, their porous defense threatens to derail their playoff hopes. The Bend Don’t Break offense, earning a B grade, has been a bright spot performing better then expected. They’ve put up points against strong teams like the Deli Degens and Bandits. QB, Joseph Shporer, the clear Mid-Season MVP, has orchestrated this success with 19 touchdowns and a respectable 7 interceptions. The ability to spread the ball around, with 4 receivers exceeding 100 yards receiving, showcases a diverse and potent attack. But defensive woes threaten progress. Their impressive offensive showing is overshadowed by a dismal defensive performance, earning a D grade. This inconsistency creates an unsettling identity crisis for the team. Can their offense consistently outscore opponents, or will the defense tighten up? Playoff hopes remain alive though. Despite the defensive woes, Bend Don’t Break still has a fighting chance at the playoffs. With a predicted final record of 4-6, they’ll need to find a way to win two more games and hope for some favorable results from other teams.

Offensive Grade: B

Defensive Grade: D

Overall Grade: C

Mid Season MVP: Joseph Shporer

Predicted Final Record: 3-7

Slipperey Slopes 1-6

For a team that I placed at #10 in my pre season roster, even if that prediction might have been a little optimistic I would have never placed them at the bottom of the division. After only 1 win so far in 7 games, unfortunately  Their offence hasn’t performed well and their defence is allowing 32 points per game. The team only has a combined 4 sacks and 6 ints. Looking at the rest of their schedule seems like they will only be able to get one more win and fall in the bottom 5 of the division leading the outside of the playoffs.  Jeremy Pelletier is their mid-season MVP as he is one of the leaders tied in receiving touchdowns and interceptions.

Offensive Grade: D

Defensive Grade: D

Overall Grade: D

Mid Season MVP: Jeremy Pelletier

Predicted Final Record: 2-8

Knights 2.0 1-5

Knights look athletic and have players that have played in FPF before, although the teams expectation weren’t high, I didn’t expect them to struggle for wins this much. They even had Corey Williams sub in for them one game. To be completely honest, that might be exactly what this team is missing, a true #1 wide receiver. In 7 games their offence has only scored 92 points. In one game Corey has as many touchdowns as any other receiver and their only win came with him on the roster. Im not saying they need Corey but they need someone who can play the Wrs position as aggressively as he does. Their inconsistency as QB has been a problem as well as they have had 4 different Qbs under-center so far. With qb roulette, and lacklustre offence its tough to chose a clear-cut mid-season MVP for this team. In only one game you could consider Corey as the teams MVP with 3 touchdowns and 2 INTs both tied for most on the team. The true MVP for the Knights has been Kevin Valcourt. 131 yards 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Offensive Grade: D

Defensive Grade: C

Overall Grade: C

Mid Season MVP: Kevin Valcourt

Predicted Final Record: 1-9

Les Studz 3-4

I give this squad B’s across the board because I didn’t expect this team to be on the verge of a 5-5 season with 3 games remaining. More importantly I did not expect this team to compete with the best in the division the way they have. They may have lost to Jagerbombers, Old pats and Notorious C.I.G but they fought hard and didn’t accept a blowout. Antoine Clément their clear number 1 target is the mid-season MVP. With 260 yards and 6 touchdowns, he also leads the team in targets and receptions. They do face some tough opponents left on their schedule as they play ambush and GloGang in their next 2 games. The most impressive stat from this team this season is the 9 Ints their defence has produced.

Offensive Grade: B

Defensive Grade: B

Overall Grade: B

Mid Season MVP: Antoine Clément

Predicted Final Record: 4-6

Notorious C.I.G  5-2

From a top 5 team in the pre-season rankings Notorious C.I.G has been surpassing expectation to a certain degree. 5 wins already and their losses only came to an undefeated Deli Degens team and a 6-1 Love Me Sexy in week 1. With a QB switch, my WROY prediction is in the gutter as Joey Notaro has taken the reigns at QB. Surprisingly, the team has done well with the superstar under center instead of out wide. 1000 yards and 23 TDs in about 5 games and only 1 loss. Their offence has been producing big numbers as they have scored over 30 points in their last 4 games. With 4 ints added to his impressive stat line, Joe Notaro is the teams mid-season MVP. I gave their defence a C grade as they have let some teams score a lot of points. But all in all a good season so far. How far can Joey take Notorious C.I.G in the playoffs?

Offensive Grade: B

Defensive Grade: C

Overall Grade: B+

Mid Season MVP: Joey Notaro

Predicted Final Record: 7-3
