Div. 4 Midseason Report Cards!

To start this one off, id like to explain how I will evaluate each team and the general idea around Mid season report cards. Each team will receive a letter grade, based on their production so far this season in contrast to their preseason expectations. In other words, its very possible for a 5-0 team to receive a B or C and a 2-3 team receive an A. Although I had only published my top 10 teams prior to the season, I did take a thorough look at the division and with my weekly predictions theres a good idea on how I though your team would perform thus far.

As Iggy perfectly outlined in his Division 5 article the letter grades correspond as such;

A – You’ve exceeded pre-season expectations.  I never would have thought the team in question would have performed this well.

B – The team is surpassing the expectations that I placed on them ahead of the season, or perhaps you meeting expectations with your record, but have won close matchups against tough opponents.

C – I was right, and the team is performing exactly as expected.

D- Your team has underperformed in comparison to pre-season expectations. You’ve probably lost matchups which your squad was favoured to win.

Due to this one being such a large division with 32 teams, in order do you guys justice I have split the report Cards into 2 weeks to effectively write about each team. So if your team isn’t included this week, nothing to worry about as you will surly be featured in next weeks article.

Still C.R.A (3-1)

I would like to grade the team a little higher based on preseason expectations but the front end of their schedule was fairly easy as the total wins from opponents beaten is only 4. Their biggest win against Loup du Nord is actually 28-0 and not 58-0. They were awarded 30 points waiting for Loup du Nord to have enough players to play until they played the rest of the game with 5 players. Their strongest opponent so through 4 weeks has been Ballz Deep and Still C.R.A got the W by only a point. I didn’t expect this team to have as many wins as they do thus far but their competition will ramp up soon enough. They have some big names coming up on their schedule such as 4th & Shlong, Golden Eagles and Blue Dreamers so it will be interesting to see how play play against the top half of the standings. Nevertheless 3-1 is a great place to be at the midpoint of the season. Their next few games will really put them to the test and well know if Still C.R.A is a legitimate contender.  Their QB Ryan Kharouf has played well so far with a 14-4 TD-INT ratio and only taking 1 sack in 4 weeks. Their biggest impact player on both sides of the ball has been Nirosh Suresh but they will definitely need more output from the rest of the team if they want to keep their winning record.

Grade: B+

Key Players: Nirosh Suresh, Ryan Kharouf

Prediction Record: 6-4

4th & Shlong (4-2)

2 loses on the season is no reason to panic, but I firmly had this squad in my top 3 teams in the league and their latest loss to Golden Eagles dampens that prediction. They have a huge game coming up this week against Still C.R.A and the winner will get the head to head win, which can be extremely vital when trying to squeeze into the top and and secure a bye. Regardless, Michael Caparelli continues to have a fantastic season throwing for over 1000 yards and 27 touchdowns in 6 weeks. They get a C grade as I predicted them to be one of the divisions top teams. One of their losses did come from the undefeated Kiss my Inlaws so I wouldn’t say their 4-2 record is underperforming. I predict the back end of their schedule will be filled with wins and 4th & shlong will be one of the top 8 teams with a bye come week 10.

Grade: C

Key Players: Michael Caparelli, Jordan Lessard

Prediction Record: 7-3

Voodoo (2-2)

A great start to the season was put to a firm stop after back to back loses. I feel as if a B- is a good grade a this is where I expect them to be. A tough .500 team, but their week 2 win against Still C.R.A was surprising. Split exactly down the middle Voodoo has 124 points for and 124 points against. Unfortunately I don’t foresee many more wins coming for this team. Their defense has not played well, giving up an average of 31 points per game and only producing 3 INT’s and no sacks. Against the better teams in the division I can’t see them getting enough stops to come out with consistent W’s. Their 2-way star Patrick St-Amand has been doing his thing on both sides of the ball but is going to have to play the rest of the season as he missed 2 of 4 games so far an needs to be targeted more so he can have larger impact on offence.

Grade: B-

Key Players: Patrick St-Amand, Alec Gregoire

Prediction Record: 4-6

Loup Du Nord (1-3)

Dropping their first 3 games is tough to bounce back from, but they just added a new quarterback, Philip Orcel. He throws a pretty deep ball as is as elusive as they come. I didn’t expect Loup du Nord to have great season C grade is where I assumed to grade them last week. But after their first 1 point win against Blue Dreamers I am confident this team will have great end of season run and make the playoffs. This is a young team and they surely lack FPF knowledge and defensive play calling but don’t let their record fool you, this is not the same team from week 1. As the weeks pile on I expect Loup du Nord to play much better.

Grade: B

Key Players: Philip Orcel, Rony Ismeus

Prediction Record: 5-5

The R.E.E.T (6-0)

Hard to give these guys anything less or more then a C+ as I expected them to DOMINATE the division and they have executed exactly that through 6 weeks. This group of guys is extremely athletic, very tactical and their most fearful trait, they’re just having fun. No hiccups in sight for The R.E.E.T. Santino Sparagna has continued to tear up every defence he faces with his arm and his legs. Rushing for over 200 and 1 TD he leads the league in rushing yards and has thrown for 26 TD’s which puts his second in the division. Santino is making his case for QB of the Year and if he continues this pace he will have my vote. Not to mention the TD machine that is Dawson Pierre. Dawson has only caught 15 passes so far but has scored an outstanding 10 TD’s. In other words 45% of the time that Dawson is TARGETED he scores 6 points. Ubsurd! Another undefeated season is in sight for them as I only for-see Dime and Bougie in week 9 give them a challenge and threaten their perfect season.

Grade: C+

Key Players: Santino Sparagna, Dawson Pierre

Prediction Record: 10-0

Mengoose (1-4-1)

I wanted to give these guys an average grade but the truth is I would have never predicted Mengoose to be at the bottom of this division. I’m sure if I asked them myself they would grade themselves much worse. I know they come in to every game and expect to win. Unfortunately so far this season the ball hasn’t bounced their way as all 3 loses and 1 tie came from 1 possession. Unsure of how the other struggling teams will finish at the end of the season i think their week 1 tie against Blue Branleurs will help them more than they think as 1-4-1 is much better then 1-5. Looking at the remainder of their schedule I predict them to go on a little winning streak but Blue Dreamers remain their toughest task so thats definitely a game they should circle. Their QB Felix- Antoine Lavigne has to do a better job at protecting the ball. His 12 INT’s are a league high and they absolutely wont be able to win games if they are constantly giving the ball back to their opponents. Their one bright spot has been WR and Rusher Jeremie Dorzin who has caught a team high 3 TD’s and is atop the league leaders in sacks with 9.

Grade: D+

Key Players: Christophe Lapointe, Jeremie Dorzin

Prediction Record: 3-5-1

In N’ Out (1-4)

A group full of new FPF players, perhaps division 4 was a little ambitious for this group. The division is filled with talent and I think not having a 4A-4B division split hurts team such as In N’ Out. What’s important is that these guys keep showing up and continue to collect knowledge and experience. I didn’t expect much from this team when looking at the roster prior to week 1 so their record isn’t surprising. Out of their 5 games remaining I only see them potentially coming out with 1 win. Their offense simply isn’t up to par with the rest of the division. Their only win has come from a 19-12 win over another struggling team. I haven’t watched one of their games this season so I cant give much other advice to this team heading into the next half of the season but they look like they have good size so I would say find mismatches and abuse them. This team needs to be at least 3-7 if they hope to not fall in the bottom 5 and miss the playoffs. Unfortunately I don’t see that happening and I predict they will be one of the 5 teams to miss they playoffs this season.

Grade: C

Key Players: Samuel Deland, Benjamin Carlisle

Prediction Record: 2-8

Top G’s (1-4)

Unfortunately for Top G’s there hasn’t been much to be happy about. I caught their week 4 game against Dime and Bougie and this team looked fast and ready to compete. Sadly, athleticism only takes you so far in this league. They took a solid 12-0 lead but quickly lost it due to poor QB play and an absent defence. Dime and bougie scored 30 unanswered to win the game 30-12. The team had swapped Benjamin Desroches and Nathan Brouillette a few times under center but I believe the job belongs to Desroches despite Nathan throwing in their only win of the season. Their top weapon so far has easily been Daniel Garcia as he leads the team in every offensive category by a large stretch. With Div 4 being loaded with talent I didn’t have high expectations for this team. With Loup du Nord adding a capable Qb to their roster they might catch themselves at the wrong end of a losing streak as the teams they got lined up are some of the divisions brightest. I don’t predict any more wins to come for Top G’s and they are my second team I have selected to miss the playoffs this year.

Grade: C

Key Players: Daniel Garcia, Félix Lafleur

Prediction Record: 1-9

Bessette Et Ses Potes (3-2)

This team has surpassed pre-season expectations I set for them. They have played well on both sides of the ball and their QB Frédéric Paquette-Perrault has played outstanding. One of the only QB’s left in the division who have not thrown an INT. Their losses also came from 2 very good teams, Martine Et le Flag and Wide Open Bar. I have been impressed so far and I don’t see why this team cant win out and finish the season 8-2. The only team left on their schedule that should give them problems would be week 11 where they face MOFOS. Fittingly, their top WR is Francois Bessette who leads the team in targets and grabs. He’s also reeled in 5 TD’s. I think Bessette et Ses Potes have been an underrated team all season and at this point would be surprised if this squad isn’t in the top 8 with a bye week.

Grade: B+

Key Players: Frédéric Paquette-Perrault, Francois Bessette

Prediction Record: 7-3

Bruins (3-2)

An unexpected loss to the Sheriff a few weeks back makes their record look a little weaker then it actually is. I would like to say this team is under performing based on my preseason ranking, but it was my assumption that Gab Wiseman would be undoubtedly be the QB1, but this hasn’t been the case. Im not sure weather its due to injury or by choice but its clear to me that when Gab Wiseman takes snaps under center, they win games. As expected Rocco Christiano is having a great year at WR hauling in over 250 yards and 7 TD’s. I think this team expected a better year and looking at their remaining opponents I’m not too optimistic. We will find this team in the playoffs but the Bruins just don’t instill the same fear in teams like they used to. Hoping they will find their groove, I just don’t see it and expect bruins to finish with a .500 record.

Grade: C-

Key Players: Gab Wiseman, Rocco Christiano

Prediction Record: 5-5

Team Ethnik (1-3)

Under performing to say the least. Their only win came way back in week 1 against a very underwhelming Bandits team. I expect this team to be at about .500 at the midpoint of the season. Benoit Lawlor is way to experienced to only be completing 50% of his passes. This squad may be missing speed but I expected their play-calling and clock management to put them in way better positions to win games. I will admit they have played some of the better teams in the division and there are no moral victories but I was unimpressed with them in their losses to say the least. Bessette et Ses Potes put up 50 on their Defence and Les Bebe Magiques scored a season high for themselves with 32 against this squad. Their biggest stud this season has been Gabriel Poisson. He leads the team in Touchdowns and Interceptions. He will need to keep scoring Td’s as their offence needs to score more then 72 through the next 4 weeks. In truly pains me to write how disappointed I am and will be if this team misses the playoffs. One of the Blue Dreamers past teammate and coach, Anthony Siggia needs to make a bigger impact if they want to save their season. Needless to say, we would love to see you in the playoffs!

Grade: D+

Key Players: Gabriel Poisson, Anthony Siggia

Prediction Record: 3-7

The Sheriff (1-4)

Higher expectation for the sheriff for sure. They didn’t make my top 10 preseason rankings but id be lying if I said they weren’t in the mix. Truth is, we don’t know anything until we see some action. QB, Luis Begin has been doing all he can but he has eclipsed 10 INT’s thus far. The Sheriff no longer have any wiggle room and more over less need to win out if they want to be playing after week 10. With many ties happening in the division I don’t think they can afford more then 1 loss. But with teams like MOFOS and Bessette et Ses Potes to close out the season, their playoffs hopes are in jeopardy. Their WR1 is clearly Alexandre Noel who led the division in yardage through the first 3 weeks. He is by far their most targeted receiver and with good reason. I think the biggest thing that the sheriff is missing is a dominant defensive weapon. Its a tough division and if you cant lock down at least 1 opponent WR its tough to win games.

Grade: D-

Key Players: Luis Begin, Alexandre Noel

Prediction Record: 2-8

Les Blues Branleurs (3-1-2)

Out of the first batch of teams i’ve evaluated this squad was 100% the toughest. My pre-season prediction for this team was for them to be approximately 3-3 around mid-season. So their ties do give them a slight edge over other teams with only 3 wins but I simply cant value their wins as quality ones so far. A 1 point win against a struggling Bandits team and a 7 point win against Top G’s who I have missing the playoffs. Even so I have to give them an above average grade as I didn’t have high expectations for the team and they have the potential to finish with 6 wins on the season. Their biggest matchup of the year still awaits them in week 9 where they face the undefeated Martine et Le Flag.

Grade: B-

Key Players: Olivier Pilotto, Guillaume Hamelin

Prediction Record: 5-3-2

Hot Sauce Sports (2-2-1)

I know some of you may say, theres no way this team deserves an A grade. But if you really look at their season as a whole they are 2 completed passes away from being 4-1 and a top team in the division. I didn’t expect this squad to have a losing record but other then their blunder against nomads and their confusing tie against cunning stunts they have had a great season. Defence has to worked on if they plan on competing with top teams such as the R.E.E.T and Kiss my Inlaws. They need to create more Qb pressure which in turn will allow them to create more turnovers. Sacks help the game go your way and HSS hasn’t had the luxury of many. On the offensive side of the ball they have been going off. Peeze boasts over 1000 passing yards and 22 Td’s so far. If he can double down and do the same thing over the next 5 weeks, well be looking at one hell of a season. He isn’t doing it all on his own as Justin Blanchard and Will Power have also been playing exceptionally well. Above all else, Peeze has surpassed my expectations, keep it up chum.

Grade: A-

Key Players: Paolo Della Rocca, William Power

Prediction Record: 6-3-1

Nomads (2-3)

This team has meet expectations with their record. But looking at all 5 games so far I have been impressed by the way Nomads are hanging in with some top teams. Their week 1 win over cunning stunts absolutely skews their plus-minus as they were awarded a 60-0 victory. I was fascinated with their close game with MOFOS. They took an L but hung in there scoring as many touchdowns as their opponent. They won another close matchups against a tough opponent in week 5 against Hot Sauce Sports. This team may have a losing record at the moment but I predict them to end the season with no less then 4 wins. QB Justin Lavallee and WR Jean-Richard Verger have been clicking all season. Verger has caught 7 TD passes so far which is over half the amount that Lavallee has scored all season. Lavallee has protected the ball well but is going to need to take some more risks when playing top teams like Martine et Le Flag and Blues Branleurs. Expect this team to be in playoffs and maybe even escape round one based on their matchup.

Grade: B-

Key Players: Justin Lavallee, Jean-Richard Verger

Prediction Record: 5-5

Bandits (1-3)

The biggest let down of the season so far in my opinion has been the bandits season. I had high praise for this group of guys ranking them #9 in the league. They sadly get the lowest letter grade of division 4 due to their poor start to the season. Although they haven’t gotten blown out by anyone, the Bandits lost some close games against Team Ethnik and Blues Branleurs which I certainly selected them to win. Their offense has been lacklustre averaging a measly 17 points per game. That wont win you many games in this league and certainly wont help the defensive side of the ball. One thing that has gone the bandits way is their addition of Jad Aridi. I have had the pleasure of playing alongside Jad back in 2019 maybe and the dude has magnets for hands. Catching 21 of 23 passes thrown to him and leading the team in TD’s with 4. Im not sure if this team can turn their season around and are in serious danger of being out of the playoffs. Lucky for them they have only played 4 games in 6 weeks so they will have a chance to bounce back with 6 games left on their schedule. This could be my biggest flop of the season or greatest team resurrection.

Grade: D-

Key Players: Jad Aridi, Émile Skaf

Prediction Record: 6-3-1
