Coming in hot this week…
Les Louves Du Nord 8-25 Wolfpack
Playing against a newcomer team doesn’t diminish the effort they put forth on the field. As I mentioned in Week 1, Marielle Paradis is definitely one to watch. In this game alone, she scored one touchdown and made three interceptions defensively. She poses a threat on both sides of the ball and will need to be accounted for when facing this team.
Mercenaries 13-34 BRUTES
The BRUTES are performing well this season. Maude Lacasse continues to impress, and her teammates—both receivers and defenders—are maintaining their usual strong play. They are accumulating significant yardage offensively and making crucial tackles. However, they did allow a team half their age to score two touchdowns. Were the BRUTES playing more relaxed in this game? Did they give their opponents a chance to score? This serves as a reminder that we can never underestimate any team. Age doesn’t matter in this sport; as long as you give your best, you can still put points on the board against older opponents.
Vortex 51-6 Ghosted
Vortex is absolutely dominating their opponents so far. In their last two games, they’ve allowed the opposing team to score just once. They’re not giving anyone a chance, and I love seeing their relentless effort on every play, showcasing what they’re capable of.
Once again, as I mentioned in Week 1, Annie Tyers Lagacé is proving why she’s Sandrine’s primary target. With 99 yards and four touchdowns on just six catches, it’s clear that Sandrine Gobeil Huot’s offensive play-calling is highly effective. Their route running disrupts defenses, consistently creating openings for players; someone is always available on each play. Laurianne Beauchamp also made an impact, scoring two touchdowns on three passes while giving her all on defense, recording five tackles and two interceptions, one of which she returned for a touchdown. With a mix of talent like this, they will pose a significant challenge for many teams this season.
Wolfpack 26-31 Ghosted
I may have been mistaken about the quarterback for the Ghosted. Carol-Ann Ménard took on the role this game, amassing 256 yards and five touchdowns, leading her team to victory. This win wouldn’t have been possible without her teammates, as Frédérique Daoust and Laury-Ann Potvin both contributed with two touchdowns each. I’m fairly certain Carol-Ann will be the starting quarterback this season, though we’ll see if that’s confirmed in their next game. Regardless, this team is leveraging their skill and height, making them a formidable opponent for many teams.
Players of the week
Quarterback → Sandinr Gobeil-Huot (Vortex) 17/29 completions, 272 yards and 7 touchdowns
Receiver → Annie Tyers Lagacé (Vortex) 6/8 completions, 99 yards, 4 touchdowns and 1 1-point convert
Defender → Laurianne Beauchamp (Vortex) 5 tackles, 2 interceptions and 1 touchdown
Rusher → Jessica Daoust (Ghosted) 1 tackle and 2 sacks
I am including rusher in this segment as it is hard for them to gain sacks in this division. Since we can’t statistically see how much pressure they are bringing on the field, I am giving kudos to them!
