“Catching” up on Div 4

Week 3

Hi all, thanks for tuning in to this week’s division 4 article. Although it’s only week 3 it’s never too early to start talking about playoffs and how to qualify since thats the only reason why were here. With such a large division it is nice to see that 24 of 29 teams will qualify for the playoffs. Even though the division is made up of groups A to H, winning your division does not guarantee you a bye week. What is important to know is that the bottom 5 teams of the division will not qualify for the playoffs. The league decided that the 5 teams with the worst record will not make playoffs in order not to penalize teams in tougher groups. The qualifying teams will then be seeded from #1 to 24 and the top 8 seeded teams will receive a round 1 bye. There will be five rounds in this years Div. 4 playoff bracket. The Wild card round will include teams 9-24 with the first 8 having a bye. In the divisional, quarters and semi’s the top seeded teams will play the lowest remaining seeds, until there are only 2 teams remaining and our division 4 Championship matchup will be set.

Highlights of the week:

  • T.H.E R.E.E.T move to 2-0 after stellar performances from Santino Sparagna and Dawson Pierre
  • Voodoo wins big agains In N’out 38-14
  • Kiss My Inlaws have no issues against Team Ethnik winning 30-19 even without starting quarterback Ignacio Manzanedo
  • Trevor Lawrence is Him, What A Comeback!!! Can’t wait to see what that Jags K.C game will turn out to be
  • MOFOS are a team to watch as they are loaded with athletes from Les Carabins de l’Université de Montréal
  • Michael Caparelli impresses once again with a 6 TD game
  • Watching the NFL playoffs without the Patriots hurts my soul….
  • Bandits drop to 0-2 after a one point loss to Les Blues Branleurs

Division 4’s week 3 Spotlight Matchup Previews

Season prediction record (3-0)

Still C.R.A Vs. Voodoo

Still C.R.A are 2-0 coming off a big win against Loup Du Nord who must have been so late to this party they gave Still C.R.A 30 points before the game even began and played the game with 5 players…..hate to see it. After Voodoo’s week 1 bye, I did predict them to win against in N’ Out but not quite like this. Voodoo secured a 38-14 victory led by who else but Frank Kaye at quarterback. This QB is entering his 13th year in FPF…that’s right not season but YEAR. Initiating his FPF career in 2009 Frank and this Vodoo squad is what the league is all about; competition, the drive to keep getting better as a player and teammate and most importantly respect. Although frank has won an FPF cup, he continues his search for his first FPF championship and they began this year off to a good start. I also noted a little infusion of youth for this team as they added Alec Gregoire, former Champlain Cavalier wide receiver and Mathieu Palmacruz to the roster, which might give them the athleticism they have been missing.

This is a important matchup as both teams will give their best effort to stay away from that first loss of the season. Still C.R.A has to be ready for this one as Voodoo will absolutely not give them any free points and will show up ready to play. Still C.R.A’s QB, Ryan Kharouf, is my key player of the game as I do believe this will be their biggest challenge so far. A close game is to be expected but I predict Still C.R.A to come out with the win as their size and speed will be too much for Voodoo to handle. Give me Still C.R.A 34-21

Dime and bougie Vs. Golden Eagles

So far Dime and Bougie have been in two games that came down to extra points. Losing their first game to trapstars 25-24 and winning their second against Mengoose 26-24. They will look to get the ball rolling against Golden Eagles and try to get a win streak going. Regarding their opponent this week, Golden eagles had an efficient week 1 scoring 38 points and securing the win but came out flat in week 2 only scoring 7 points against Heart Break Kids. If they want to win this division matchup after already dropping one last week their offense has got to be better. My advice to Kevin Lubin would be to continue to protect the ball as he has yet to throw an int this season. Another thing would be to throw a few more check downs just to get into a rhythm, as he has only completed 50% of his passes through 2 weeks. This is a big one for Golden Eagles as they’re next 3 opponents will be a tougher task then this one. Important for them to try an steal a win early in the season to try and avoid a losing streak. The Golden eagles wildly different offensive outputs make this a tough one to predict but my gut is telling me Dime and Bougie secure another win 32-28.

Bessette et Ses Potes Vs. Team Ethnik

Through 2 weeks Team Ethnik (1-1) has impressed me. They beat Bandits week one and hung in there against easily one of the top 3 teams in the division, Kiss My Inlaws. I guess thats what happens when you’ve got players like David De Andrade and Anthony Siggia on your squad. One would expect one of these studs to be dominating targets and touchdowns but Benoit Lawlor has done a spectacular job spreading the ball around. Only 1 receiver on this squad has yet to score a touchdown. They face Bessette et Ses Potes in week 3. Bessette et Ses Potes come into this game also 1-1 searching for their second victory. What impresses me the most about this team is the QB- WR connection between Frédéric Paquette-Perrault and Joel Soucy. Though 2 weeks they have connected for approximately 100 yards and 4 touchdowns. Despite throwing the football 67 times already this season Frédéric still has not turned the ball over, a real recipe for success. Im excited for this game to take place as it will allow me to get a better idea of how successful these teams can be down the stretch. I predict Bessette et Ses Potes to keep things close but ultimately lose in a defensive battle 22-19. Bessette et Ses Potes haven’t been able to convert on extra points this season going 1 for 8 so far and I think thats what leads them to lose this game.

Div 4’s Slow Start

The Sheriff (0-2)

The Team that has had a slow start to the season but who I believe are better then their week 3 record are The Sheriff. Their schedule has forced them to play their tougher matchups early on in the season having already played Wide Open Bar and T.H.E  R.E.E.T losing both these contests. They are also set to play the burins and Kiss my Inlaws in week 4 & 5. Luckily The Sheriff get a chance at their fist win of the season against the 0-2 Les bebe Magiques. Les bebe Magiques have only scored 3 touchdowns in 2 weeks and have thrown just as many interceptions. The Sheriff have an opportunity to gain some confidence and momentum heading into they next few weeks as they face a few more well rounded teams. I expect The Sheriff to limit their turnovers and simply have better offensive production then Les bébés magiques to seal the win.  Luis Begin has been under center for The Sheriff every season since the team first emerged in FPF back in 2018. He’s got great mobility as he averages getting sacked only about once per game and isn’t shy to take off and run the ball. I unfortunately haven’t had a chance to watch the Sheriff in action yet but am definitely circling their week 5 game against Kiss my Inlaws. This game can make or break their season as they hope to enter week 5 with a record of at least 1-3. I do think despite the 0-2 record The Sheriff will be a playoff team and just need a few weeks to get into rhythm and make their needed adjustments.

Top performers of Week 2

QB: Ryan Garber- Trapstars

Just as I mentioned in my week 2 article, the Trapstars offense would be to much for Hot Sauce Sports to handle. QB Ryan Garber took advantage of this defense throwing for 3 yards shy of 200 and 5 touchdowns! He also took what the defense gave him and ran on 5 occasions for 41 yards and a touchdown. Add in 0 INTs and this was a near perfect game for Ryan. If he keeps playing like this I don’t see why Trapstars won’t finish with 8+ wins.

WR: Antoine Authier- Martine et Le Flag

Antoine Authier exploded for Martine et Le Flag leading them to a second win on the season. He went off against Bessette et Ses Potes for 10 catches 80 yards and 4 touchdowns!! His stellar game allowed him to lead the division this week in receptions and TDS. They will certainly want a few more of these performances as they take on MOFOS, Kiss My Inlaws before February ends.

Def: Arthur Doyon- Dime & Bougie

Arthur Doyon has been a menace to division 4 Qb’s so far on defence. He snagged one INT in week one and ended week 2 with 2 INT’s, one pass defence and one tackle against Mengoose. Arthur has only played one full season in FPF but was already selected as a defensive all star last spring. In other words, I advise Qb’s to throw away from Arthur as much as possible.

2-Way: Dawson Pierre- T.H.E. R.E.E.T

Dawson is probably the best athlete in div 4 and it’s going to take A LOT to slow him down. In week 2 Dawson caught all 5 passes thrown his way for 99 yards and 3 TDS!! I didn’t have the pleasure of watching this performance but I heard a few of his touchdowns came off ridiculous grabs. Dawson’s size and speed makes him un-guardable and when Santino buys time in the pocket he makes the task even more difficult for defenders. On the defensive side of the ball Dawson was able to snag an interception and added 3 tackles to his spectacular performance!
