Bombsquad’s Breakdwon (Div 1 & 2) – Week 10

The dust has settled and all is decided. The stage is set and all that remains is the glorious ending as a team from each division will raise the Championship trophy while every other team will fall short; some already have without having the possibility to take their shot. How did it unfold you ask? Well let me tell you.

Countdown to detonation.

8. The Bills slay the Gladiateurs 31-13. Chad Byers only threw 19 passes in this game with 5 TD’s and 1 pick-six that was achieved by his counterpart Francois Lebeau. Unfortunately, Lebeau’s pick-six also matched the amount of TD’s he threw. The Bills look ready for another Championship run. Pierre Ianniciello was big man for the Bills with 77 yards and 2 TD’s. As for the Glads, this was a very tough opponent and they are seasoned enough to know that this game means nothing. It is what happens in two weeks that counts.

7. TG and that damn r thingy drown the Ducks 50-34. QB Paul Lapierre had a monster game, which is a great way to finish the season heading into the playoffs. 306 yards and 8 TD’s. Once again, Jacques Void was huge with 5 grabs for 115 yards and 3 TD’s. Jamil Springer chipped in with 2 TD’s as well, including a dazzling run through the Ducks D. The problem for Manuel Crisi-Lauzon is that his TD total matched his interception total, with 4 apiece. Sebastien Crisi-Lauzon was big again with 109 yards and a TD. TG looks great heading into the playoffs and despite their season ending, the Ducks have to be one of the strongest one-win teams I have ever seen.

6. Wow did I back the wrong horse as the Mercenaries kill the Wild Boys 46-19. Gino Di Fazio had a great game with 7 Td’s and 265 yards. Once again Carmine Pollice dominated; 9 catches for 112 yards and 3 TD’s. You think people might have realized he is a threat by now. He also had a pick on defense. That being 1 of the 2 picks Matt René threw. He only managed 3 TD’s, two of which went to Nigel Thomas. The Mercs look poised for another deep playoff run. While the Wild Boys need to regroup and get ready to make their own run.

5. The Rainmakers fall to Purple Haze 38-39. Both Ryan Kastner and Rick Nincheri had very strong games. Kastner used all his weapons and spread the ball all over the field. But The Purple Haze got an all important stop which turned the tide of the game. Louis Richard showed why he is the strongest Haze receiver as he had 80 yards and 2 TD’s and the perennial star rusher Andrew Adams also had a couple of scores. The Haze look strong heading into the playoffs and still are the only team who defeated L’Sac. As for the Rainmakers, they meet the Bills in 2 weeks.

4. The Wolfpack peak a bit too late in the year as they defeat the Top Guns 32-25 but end up sending the Top Guns into the playoffs. Pascal Murray had another good game. With 5 TD’s. Of those 5, 3 of them were to receiver Alexandre Martin who had a pretty decent season. The Top Guns now limp into the playoffs; QB Mario Porreca had 4 TD’s and 2 of those were to speedster Nick Gaudreault. The Guns better step up their game if they hope to make it past the first round. Meanwhile, it just wasn’t early enough for the Wolfpack to make some magic.

3. Montreal’s Finest end the Wolverines season on a sour note beating them 47-12. Kevin Wyeth finished off his incredible season by showing us why he is a Hall Of Famer. 6 TD’s, only 3 incompletions (and two of those were by me, sorry Kev) and he spread the ball all over the field. Kishon Thompson made a pretty great pick on defense as well. Hope this is the momentum the Finest need to make another run for the title. The Wolverines had a rough game with Tony Tabet throwing 2 TD’s and 3 interceptions.  This has not been the best season for the Wolverines. I think they will take this off season to regroup and come back strong.

2. Flag Moi L’Sac completes their season sweep of Div 1 opponents by defeating the Express 37-26. Alex Nadeau-Piuze and brother Samuel hook up for 2 of Alex’s TD’s while JP St-Pierre caught the other 2. Alex also ran for a TD. On the other side, Gianni Settino had very similar passing stats. 4 TD’s and 1 INT as well; two of the scores went to Two-way standout Nicolas Arsenault-Hum. This was a very sad ending to the Express’ season after returning to FPF. On the other side, can any team stop L’Sac? I know the Purple Haze beat them in regular season play.

1. In a disappointing finish to the Pantheres season, they fail to get into the playoffs as they fall to the Terror Squad 41-29. The Vilaydeth-Jerome connection continues to dominate as they connected on 3 scores. One of those scores was the defender batting the ball right in Jerome’s arms. Mike Grilli had an solid game with 4 TD’s on 262 yards. This was a must win game for the Pantheres and I know it is killing them that they came up short. Meanwhile, the Terror Squad are pushing forward. It is going to be a very interesting playoff session.

BOOM!!! Like the hopes and dreams of all the teams that did not make the playoffs.

And now for some individual awards for the last time this year…unless I decide to make note of some people in the playoffs.

Div 1

I am going to hate myself in the morning and I am definitely showering after writing this to cleanse myself, but this week’s Golden Boy is the freaky little r thingy QB Paul Lapierre who had 306 yards and 8 TD’s….ya ya whatever.

My SHOWSTOPPA for this week is the other part of the reason I have to shower after this article then lay in my bed in a fetal position weeping silently; Jason Prince of the same damn team gets it with his 2 INT performance. There…..I said it…..now get outta here. (the horror……the horror.)

Div 2

My Golden Boy is the Mercenaries QB Gino Di Fazio who pulled out a big game when it mattered with 265 yards and 7 TD’s. Great game!

My SHOWSTOPPA for this week is Top Guns rusher Zack Gaudreault, who sacked Pascal Murray three times. Good work!

I thought it might be fun to do a little recap of the season. But it has to be done Bombsquad style, of course.

On the serious side, we had monster years for QB’s. Justin Smolar of the Hall of Famers had a ridiculous season. 59 TD’s, 2450 yards, 12 INT’s and 7 sacks. Almost unbelievable until you see the stats of Kevin Wyeth. 62 TD passes, 6 TD rushes, 2316 yards, 2 INT’s and 1 sack. A season for the ages. Congrats to both.

Let’s take a look at some other notable occurrences from this very memorable past season. And maybe sprinkle in some random thoughts or as I like to say…

Bombsquad’s Deep Thoughts…End of Season Edition

Teddy Frenette changed the name of the Expos to the Bills due to losing in the last 3 Div 1 finals.

There was a car accident in front of Lachine Catalogna and some guy jumped out of their car and yelled “Is there a doctor anywhere?”; The Rainmakers then had to forfeit a game due to not having enough players able to play.

Adam Crystal was pulled over by the police for indecency in public but the charges wouldn’t stick because apparently there is no law against making out with a football.

On the front page of the Div 1 & 2 site in week 9, you could find Jacques Void’s picture right next to Carlton O’Brien’s. There has never been a happier week in FPF history.

At a Super Bowl party earlier this year TG’s little r thingy was brought in for questioning regarding a woman being roofied at said party. There was not enough evidence to hold him and he now has earned enough street cred to be in Milli Millz next video.

In week 7 Rick Nincheri was flagged for excessive handshaking with multiple players, fans, stadium staff, homeless people and an entire Ultimate Frisbee team.

In week 10 it was announced that Felix Prevost was named to the cast of the next Musketeers film. His role is as of yet not been mentioned.

If someone told me that Akked Moore’s FPF picture was actually his mug shot, I would believe them…..if I didn’t know him.

Somewhere right now Alex Nadeau-Piuze is celebrating a rushing TD that wasn’t actually a TD but was flagged on the 1.

On Saturday March 23rd, I saw an entirely different side to Bobby Mikelberg.

When will people realize that Raffi Bastadjian and Sevag Kaloussian are talented receivers?

Does anyone realize that both of Kevin Wyeth’s 2 interceptions were made by Kenny Baye of the Ducks?

Right now somewhere Pat Jerome is smiling…….Tam Vilaydeth is also right beside him.

Dany Ostiguy was named an honorary ninja at the end of the season for scoring 17 TD’s and only me and some of the Pantheres players actually knew this.

In week 6, Nicolas Arsenault-Hum had a pick six and most of the opposing team shook his hand because he is just so damn friendly.

TG (Which is supposed to mean Top Guns) has filed a lawsuit against the current Top Guns for copyright infringement. The Meshesha brothers will be representing the Top Guns and TG will be represented by the little r thingy.

Who spiked the Wolfpack’s water bottles for most of the season? And who from the Wolfpack woke up and realized what was going on?

Can someone please tell me what the Ducks were doing to their poor teammate on Feb 17th at Loyola in between their games in the soccer net?

Will I ever be able to pronounce Charles Baillargeon’s name? I even tried while writing this.

What happened to the real Nigel Thomas and where did he buy that realistic hulk suit?

Where did Alexandre Martin come from and how come we haven’t heard from him before?

Did anyone realize that both the Finest QB and the Gladiateurs QB both had made interceptions and returned them to the house?

Somewhere right now Robbie Robinson is checking his stats and hating that he must admit to himself that Louis Richard is the better receiver.

Why do Chad Byers and Geoff Beauchesne remind me of the Odd Couple?

When will our Commish let me write that he looks like a 17 year old boy? (Editor’s note: This week only.)

And so the season has come to pass,

Some finished in first, and some in Last.

Now comes the real season, where dreams can come true

With just one loss, your team is through.

Is there ever, a better time of year?

One second jump for joy, the other shed a tear.

For the reason we all play, is here, our story

For blood sweat and tears, and FPF glory.

That is it for this week. I will have a full playoff preview next week. Until then you can email me at [email protected] or tweet @DonaldWShepherd with your playoff predictions and funny random thoughts. Until that time, enjoy the bye week for this week has been defused.
