Bombsquad’s Breakdown (Div A) – Week 12
It is with a very heavy heart that I write this article. Another upset in FlagPlus; who would have thought? I shall delve straight into the action. As bitter as that may be.
Countdown to detonation. (Sigh)
- The Triple Sixers upset the DA Finest 33-31 as they hold a possible game tying 2-point conversion at the end to seal the victory. The game boiled down to one stop as DA Finest had a couple of drops on a crucial drive which led to a Triple Sixers TD to take over the lead. Pat Jerome was huge for the Triple Sixers with 7 catches for 65 yards and 3 TD’s carrying the load. It was Raphael Fradette’s TD though, that sealed the game with Jerome converting on the covert to go up by 8. Kevin Wyeth did everything he could. Kishon Thompson went above and beyond what was asked of him with 4 TD’s and Karim Binette and his 12 catches carried the load. The Triple Sixers had a great game plan, which they executed to perfection. DA Finest had a chance to take a strangle hold on the game before the half but yours truly dropped the ball. The Sixers now move on to the finals as DA Finest put away another disappointing season.
The Golden Boy and Showstoppa this week is the entire Sixers team who got the job done as a collective unit. Congrats.
As much as it killed me to write that part of the article I must say it is great to see the parity in our league. In any given season, anyone can win. An 8th seed won in the winter (D3). The league is growing by leaps and bounds and more importantly the talent level grows every season. Maybe it’s time for an old dog like me to retire.
This is a very competitive league with more and more teams all the time. Enjoy it and remember you are there to have fun. There is nothing that I personally like more than to play a team that everyone thinks is the best and try to bring them down. I take each game as a personal challenge to make sure I have fun and improve from to week or at least do what my team expects of me. I challenge you to do the same.
Now let’s move on to pick the winner of this week’s game.
I will open by telling you I believe the Mercenaries will win this game. I know the Rainmakers have the talent to get the job done, but Carmine Pollice is playing possibly his best indoor football to date and that is saying something. Not to mention, having Paul Lapierre, Stephane Chartrand and Jacques Void to throw to! Who could ask for anything more? The Rainmakers have a stellar offence with Ryan Kastner at the helm tossing to his brother Derek, Shane Williams, Michael Chitayat, Bobby Mikelberg, Michael Samman and more. They are very difficult to stop. I chose the Mercenaries to win, primarily because the Rainmakers defense held only one team to under 30 points this season. And that will not work against this team or in the playoffs. It will be close but in the end I told you who I believe will be victorious.
That takes us out,
Of this forgettable week.
Sad to be out,
And my performance reeked.
Time to see,
The next team in line.
Who’ll then play the finals,
A week from that time.
I’m out! Peace and be blessed. Email me if you’d like at [email protected] but until then I am going to bury my head in the sand somewhere. But for now another week has been defused.
