Spotlight Matchup Previews
(Prediction record 5-7)
Bruins (6-2) Vs. Cunning Stunts (3-2-2)
The bruins are coming off a red hot win vs Bessette et Ses Potes to move them to the top of group B and a 6-2 record. Gab Wiseman threw 4 TD’s and 3 INT’s but their turnovers did not matters their defence held a very good offense to only 18 points. They will need to repeat that song defence this week against the high flying Cunning Stunts. One thing that surpasses me about the Bruins is the inconsistent roster from week to week. The Bruins have used subs more then they like and only have 6 players that are playoff eligible up to date. They still have 2 games to play so they should be able to make 8 eligible but its hard to build chemistry with a team when the roster is slightly different every week. Cunning stunts are a team that has the potential to be in the upper echelon of teams in the division but have not closed out close games like elite teams do. In reality they have only lost one game to The R.E.E.T but their ties needed to be wins for this team to be a legitimate contender. Still, QB Stephen Casey has moved the ball and evade sacks to buy extra time. After the Bruins stepped up their game as of late its very hard to pick against them in what i will think will be another close one for cunning stunts. Give me Bruins 36-34.
Hot sauce sports (3-3-1) Vs. Les Blues Branleurs (3-3-2)
Les Blues Branleurs haven’t played since their week 9 loss to Martine et Le Flag. This week they play back to back days Sunday and Monday. They start their week off with Les Jets Plien and then face Hot Sauce Sports. This is one matchup that stands out to me is the similarities of these two teams. From their quarterbacks numbers to their record these teams have had similar seasons. Both teams have won games they were favoured to lose and lost games they should have won by at least 2 scores. Their inconsistency has made their playoff seeding much lower then expected. Hot Sauce is coming off an awful 26-24 loss to Top G’s. Peeze threw an unfortunate 2 INT’s and was unable to convert on any extra-points. If you leaver 4 or more points on the board you WILL lose. They get a chance to bounce back and will look to play their standard of football and get a win. Les Blues Branleurs need to limit turnovers and capitalize any mistakes HSS make. I predict Peeze to crisply read any defence infront of him and light up the scoreboard as he shakes off last weeks performance. Hot Sauce sports takes it 39-28.
Interview with Ryan Dobbs, has 6 TD’s in 5 games with Ballz Deep
1. What does FPF mean to you?
What does FPF mean to me, that’s a good one honestly. FPF means a lot to me gets me outta the house I’ve made so many new friendships and met so many new people through the league. That I don’t think I woulda met otherwise honestly. And the competition level compared to other leagues is just so much better.
2. How do you feel about the season Ballz Deep has had so far?
Our season in 4 is going good a nice little 5-2-1 record where for once our defence isn’t the issue. Everyone’s contributing in a way that helps us win. Jonathan weir has stepped up on both sides of the ball. I definitely think our offence should be averaging more than we are but defence makes up for it.
3. How will the loss of Isaiah Allard affect the team due to his suspension?
Isiah is a big part of the defence with his height and elite rushing, Also a very big target on offence. But we have been playing together for a long time now. We have guys like Tyler McPherson who can shine in his place as well as he’s always been someone who can make plays. Duncan has also made strides to become a better rusher so yes it’l hurt but we have the pieces to keep going.
4. What’s one thing you hope your team can improve on heading into the final weeks and prepare for the playoffs?
I really think we need to improve on being cut throat in the first half & Score at will. While in the second hood the ball more make the touchdown drives longer. Really drain that clock and make it easier on ourselves
Interview with Frank Kaye Quarterback of Voodoo
1. Has the offence or the defence stepped up during your 3-win streak?
We are very fortunate to be on a 3 game win streak, we have had guys missing games, started games with 5 guys and also only have 6 guys at our last game so we feel sticking together both in offence and defence has enabled us to go on a little run.
We have also realized during this stretch that we need to do what we do best , don’t take ourselves to seriously go back to basics and play within ourselves.
2. Tell me about the impact Patrick St-Amand has had on your roster. (who is currently leading the league in receiving yards)
Pat St.Amand is an outstanding player however he would be the first to say that without his teammates he wouldn’t be as productive as he is. There are a great group of guys that surround him and we all understand that without each other no one will exceed especially Pat.
3. With the possibility of ending the season 7-3, would you say your team is exceeding expectations?
Expectations are the concern of other teams not Voodoo. It is funny how people get caught up with keeping up with the Jones’. Voodoo’s expectations always have been and always will be having fun, being on the field with each other and winning some games. When we start to worry about these things that’s when our expectations are aren’t met. Not the answers you may of been looking for however we are who we are.
Top performers of week 10
QB: Ryan Garber- Trapstars
Ryan Garber appears for the first time as a top performer and he did in high fashion as he ended his spectacular night with 200 yards passing, 5 TD’s and more importantly 0 turnovers. He lead the trap starts to they’re fifth win of the season with a 31-24 score against Loup Du Nord. Ryan was practically perfect completing over 75% of passes, punting 0 times and getting sacked 0 times as well. Trapstars must love this type of production from their Q and will love to see it keep rolling.
WR: Cooper Young- Trapstars
Hand in hand with his QB’s great performance, Cooper Young had a wild one. The Trapstars touchdown leader added 4 to his season total. He was Ryan Garber’s main wideout as he was targeted 11 times. He caught 9 of them and turned it into 75 yards. They even tried a run play with Cooper that resulted in only 4 yards but its something different to show a defence and I like the play call. Cooper was also the only receiver to bring in an extra point on their 5 total TD’s. Simply put….A Great game that may project him into all star status.
DEF: Will Power- Hot Sauce Sports
Unfortunately a loss for Hot Sauce to Top G’s last week one bright spot for them was the lockdown defence that was Will Power. He ended the game with 2 INT’s and one bat down. This brings Will’s season total to 6 INT’s which places him second in the division. With 3 more games to play he could end with a solid defensive season.
2-Way: Patrick St-Amand- Voodoo
One of the biggest performances during of the the biggest games of div 4 so far. Patrick St-Amand might be having the best overall season as a two-way player. Against a great opponent, Pat St-Amand hauled in 11 of 13 bases for 150 yards and 4 TD’s. He was clearly their best offensive weapon as he kept moving the chains and putting up points. On the defensive side he snagged Voodoo’s only INT of the game to give his team the edge against vultures. St-Amand has only played 6 games this season and still leads the division in INT’s. Absolutely insane numbers
