Weekly Headlines
4th & Shlong shockingly don’t make playoffs!
An expected top team in the league ended with the 21st seed in the division which not enough to make playoffs. A few weeks ago I had mentioned that I didn’t think that 4 wins would be enough to ensure a spot in the playoffs and here we are at the end of the season where 4-6 does not get 4th & Shlong into the post-season. Week 9 and 10 gave 4th & shlong 3 consecutive losses which placed them outside of the top 20. Not sure if it was due to injury or simply time off for QB Michael Caparelli but it was Justin Lerner who took over at QB during this span and unfortunately was unable to secure one win to get them into the playoffs. I am very surprised at this result but without your starting quarterback it is really hard to win in this league. In a division where teams were separated by one win and only points against 4th & shlong get the short end of the stick this season and will not be participating in playoff action. Im sure this team will be back and better then ever next season!
Bessette Et Ses Potes end with #2 Seed
After getting multiple games cancelled/ rescheduled Besette Et Ses Potes have ended their season with a solid 7-3 record enough to grant them the #2 seed in Div C. In an extremely competitive division from top to bottom they have really found their stride this season and have the pieces to have a deep playoff run. Their last win of the season came off a huge play on the last play of the game versus Kiss My Inlaws. They were able to secure a 40-37 win over KMI but were down 34-37 with one play remaining. From 25 yards out to the goal line, KMI set up in a prevent defence as they were one incompletion from a win and bringing their record to 7-3. But Bessette et Ses Potes had a different idea as Frederic took the snap and launched a pass to the back of the endzone where his favourite target all season, Tristan Fiske-Casault, made a huge grab for a game winning TOUCHDOWN. A great way to end your season if you’re Bessette Et Ses Potes and I expect them to carry this momentum deep into the playoffs.
Matchup of the week
Hot Sauce Sports (5-5) Vs. Never Overtime (5-5)
Get ready for an intense showdown as Hot Sauce Sports and Never Overtime, two evenly matched teams with identical records of 5-5, prepare to face off in a wild/wild card rematch tonight. The last time these teams met was in Week 5, where Never Overtime secured a narrow victory with a final score of 28-25. With such a closely contested previous matchup, the league can expect another thrilling battle on the horizon. When looking back on their previous matchup, one aspect stands out prominently: the disciplined play of both quarterbacks. Neither Peeze Della Rocca or Ryan Karouf turned the ball over, showcasing their remarkable decision-making and ball security. As the teams square off once more here in the playoffs, the key to victory may lie in the hands of the defense that can disrupt the opposing quarterback’s rhythm and force a critical interception. With both teams holding an equal 5-5 record, this contest is bound to be closely fought from start to finish. Every decision, play call will be pivotal in securing the win. The stakes are high, and it only takes one turnover to swing the momentum and seal the victory in a game that I expect to be decided by a one-score margin. Hot Sauce Sports enters the matchup eager to avenge their previous loss, utilizing their precision passing game and run after the catch arsenal to put points on the board. Led by a smart quarterback and a resilient group of skilled receivers, they will be determined to exploit any weaknesses in Never Overtime’s defense and emerge with a win. Hungry for redemption and on quite a hot streak winning their last 3 games in a row, Hot Sauce Sports poses a significant threat to eliminate Never Overtime.
Drawing confidence from their previous win, Never Overtime will rely on their consistent offence, to complete passes and keep the chains moving downfield. Their extra point conversion percentage has been fairly high so I expect Never Overtime to score 7 or 8 points more then half of the time. So, brace yourselves for a captivating contest that is likely to go down to the wire. The stage is set and the rematch between Hot Sauce Sports and Never Overtime is primed to provide yet another exhilarating chapter in Div C. I think Hot Sauce Sports has all the momentum in this game ready to take on Never Overtime and avenge their week 5 loss. I believe Peeze will exploit any holes he has observed in their last meeting and will be firing on all cylinders. Ill take Hot Sauce Sports 38-34.
Finals Prediction
Before the playoffs officially take off I would like to give my Finals Matchup prediction based on what I observed throughout this regular season. There is so many great teams in this division and even through 20 seeds I think the differences are very slight and I do imagine many upsets will take place every week In these playoffs. With that said I do think Dime and Bougie will be one of this years finalists. They have done it the past 2 season and I think they are just getting better. Pair up their speed, skill and chemistry with the number 1 seed in the division allows them to get the best possible match every week moving forward gives them the best chance to be playing in this seasons finals. Choosing an opponent for Dime an Bougie is really tough as I can probably name 4 teams that wouldn’t surprise me if they were playing in this years championship game. Ultimately I have to go with a division 4 finals rematch of Dime and Bougie vs Kiss My Inlaws. I think Iggy has had a spectacular season throwing the football and their offence is too explosive for many teams to keep up with. Even though this squad finished with a record of 6-4 I think this team has championship caliber and have played great football all season. Iggy is just a few less interceptions from being named back to back QBOY so I think they will have enough gas to push them to finals weekend unless they end up playing Dime and Bougie before hand.
I won’t give an exact prediction of this matchup but I do think that if Dime and Bougie get to go up against Kiss My Inlaws once again in a championship game, they wont lose 3 times in a row.
