And that’s the way the cookie crumbles…
Hello friends, and welcome to another week of FPF action! We had a Super Bowl bye week and jumped right back into it last week. Seeing as most teams have now hit the 5 Games Played range I feel more confident giving a Report card that actually reflects the Mid-Season. That being said, it turns out Report Cards are lengthy A.F. and definitely took me longer than expected! Sorry about that! (Should be pretty obvious from my copied intro…. I know…. How unimaginative). Also, I wrote some of these before Sunday, so some previews may have already happened.
No need for a long introduction, but before we get going, let me break down my super complex arbitrary and terrible rating system. I like superheroes. And I really don’t like letter grades…. especially F’s, but alas, if I have to give them out, I might as well try to make it fun! So here it is:
There are 3 Tiers that I’ll be using to rank your team: Cosmic Threat > Planet Buster > Street Tier. The Tier is a combination of how many playmakers you have, stats as a team, length of time you’ve been playing as a team, and what level of team I expected you to be. I also assign marvel characters to each team to show how I envision them.
Your letter grade is given per Tier. You can be a Cosmic Threat with an A rank, and you can also be a Street Tier and be an A rank. The letter grade establishes how I think your team is actually doing compared to expectations, the caliber of teams you’ve played against, and your record so far.
Last but not least, I name 2 key players per team that I believe other teams should watch out for and to highlight their efforts. QB’s are not named because QB’s get enough attention in the league and OBVIOUSLY you have to look out for the QB…
S – Seriously Scary
A – Amazingly Awesome
B – Bold and Beautiful
C – Crazy Competitive
D – Dangerously Distracting
F – Furiously Fighting for Fame

MID SEASON REPORT CARD COED 1:
.
NORTHERN BRAVES
Our only undefeated team left in Co-Ed 1! NORTHERN BRAVES have been marching through the division scoring almost 40+ points a game and their defense has been successful at keeping their opponents to less than 30 (except PARTY MIX). Jonathan Maheu, better known for his time with the BRAVES, is doing what he always does – throw a S*?@ ton of TDs! Currently leading the division in TDs, in yards, in lowest number of INTs, I don’t need to ask how the NORTHERN BRAVES are still 5-0. This team has a lot of playmakers in: Kristopher Verreault, Lauriane Beauchamp, Mike Pierrecin, and Georges Gariepy. But when you have the #1 QB in the division and the #1 receiver in the division (Lauriane Beauchamp), magic is going to happen. 13 TDs in 5 games is phenomenal! Other receivers are getting the ball as well – most receivers have 15+ targets, which is 3 a game minimum (some more based on Games Played). Each receiver had over 100 yards, with multiple having over 200 yards.
On defense, Jonothan Robillard is handling being the rusher as a newcomer to FPF. 1 sack a game is nothing to ignore. A consistent rusher may be one of the more important positions in FPF and being able to get at least 1 sack a game is a great standard. With 12 INTs in 5 games, NORTHERN BRAVES has proved they can force turnovers and change the game rapidly. The big competition coming up is FAST AND FURIOUS, the team nipping at their heels in 2nd place. I honestly don’t know who will be able to stop this team.
2 Key Players: Lauriane Beauchamp / Jonathan Robillard

POWER RANGERS
Another FPF super star, Tam Vilaydeth, took the reins at QB once again for this POWER RANGER team. I’m not sure if we are talking “Mighty Morphin’”, “Turbo”, “Lost Galaxy” or what, but the POWER RANGERS have been able to keep up with most of the division, despite having 1 less game played. Having lost only to FAST AND FURIOUS, a top caliber team, POWER RANGERS have some hard games coming up in the 2nd half of the season and will need to continue to spread the ball like they have been doing and forcing more turnovers on defense. A lot of players are involved in this offense and most players on the team have a TD! Amazing! However, the yardage of the team worries me slightly. Having only 1 receiver with over 100 yards may not be enough to put high end teams like NORTHERN BRAVES and FAST AND FURIOUS away.
So far POWER RANGERS have beaten BALL BUSTERS, PARTY MIX, and GIRL SCOUTS… all middle of the pack teams. With games later this season against FREE SMOKE and THE FUNNY CLUB it will be interesting to see if their defense can keep the pressure on! With 17 PDs in 4 games and 8 INTs, POWER RANGERS defense ensures their opponent can’t win. I foresee this team going far into the Playoffs and potentially one of the final 4 teams.

LES PETITS PHOQUES
These tiny seals have been throwing up some major balls and coming down with TDs! Although they have been able to score 30+ every game, which is awesome… having a 2-1-1 record means that their defense is also allowing 30+ points a game, which cannot happen come playoff time. With 16 TDs in 3 games by Dom Lefort, if these other PETITS PHOQUES can find ways to create turnovers and get Dom the ball more they may be able to navigate though the next half of the season! They will need all the offensive chances they can muster against teams like: POWER RANGERS, FAST NOT FURIOUS, THE FUNNY CLUB, and NORTHERN BRAVES. With the help of Boris Gagnier as their #1 receiver, they have been able to pull the necessary points out against PARTY MIX, who i probably thought would take that.
Defensively, tons of tackles and PDs are a great start! PDs means the loss of a down, but what teams are really looking for are those juicy INTs. Turnovers are huge anywhere, but when teams only have about 5-6 possessions a game, any turnover can drastically swing a game. Adel Blanc is currently leading the team in PDs and tackles, so you can’t ask him to do more. However, if they want to continue to hang with the middle of the pack, someone will need to get some turnovers.
2 Key Players: Laurianne Bonin / Adel Blanc

FAST AND FURIOUS
What a roster on this team! Each player is a playmaker and although I think they could be an undefeated team right now, they sit comfortably at 4-2 in 4th place. With 4 games left in the season they have a chance to finish at 8-2, but NORTHERN BRAVES stand in their way. Myles Gibbon is doing his best to stay on par with the top QBs of the division and with 4 TDs a game, he is on track for a 40 TD season. Ryan Dobbs-Garnett is leading Co-Ed 3 as QB and is tearing it up as a receiver in Co-Ed 1, which is saying something when you have James Drysdale and Marvin Steinberg on your team. I don’t really have any major critics for their offense… it’s full of ballers and even though Ryan is the leading receiver, the rest are nipping at his heels. Quaysie, Marvin, and James are all boasting 20+ targets and a handful of TDs each. Keiya Allen-Beckles and Rachelle Vallieres are the support players on offense, with Keiya having a TD and both of them having over 12+ targets.
The defensive side of the ball looks even more intimidating – if that was possible. 4 defensive TDs / 10 INTs between 2 players / 20 tackles from Rachelle Vallieres / and a WHOPPING 15 SACKS from Jessica Bositampen. They kept 3 teams to 12 points, and were still able to beat out the POWER RANGERS who scored 43 points! Despite this team losing to BALL BUSTERS in week 7, this team is not to be underestimated and expect them to be one of the power houses in the playoffs.

KISS MY OUTLAWS
Are there any Sheriffs that can bring these Outlaws to justice!? You got the Gomes brothers, 2-way threat: Isiah Allard, Joey Notaro and Lory Ouellette. With their only loss so far coming at the hand of NORTHERN BRAVES during week 1 of the season, KISS MY OUTLAW had yet to face another top division team until last week against FAST AND FURIOUS. Although I’m loving the 5-1 record, and the fact that Stephen Harripersaud is having a phenomenal season, I do wish their wins came from more competitive teams. Their wins come at the expense of teams like: LES BLEUS, LES PETITS PHOQUES, BALL BUSTERS and GIRL SCOUTS, all teams with 2 wins and less. Getting the win over FAST NOT FURIOUS is definitely a statement making game, but to prove they deserve to be with the best of the best, they will need to win their games against FREE SMOKE and THE FUNNY CLUB.
With 6 games under their belt, KISS MY OUTLAWS have shown that any one of their receivers can be a threat! The completion % is amazing for the team and although AJ Gomes is busy being a superstar regardless of the team he is on, it’s Isiah Allard who is currently leading this offense with 9 TDs! I think this team is definitely COSMIC THREAT material, however, i’d like to see them put more distance between themselves and their competition during games. They have the talent to blow out teams, let’s see it happen!

GIRL SCOUTS
GIRL SCOUTS have been trying to sell their cookies to the division and not many teams are buying. When you look at who they have faced however, you realize why they have been struggling. POWER RANGERS, KISS MY OUTLAWS, and NORTHERN BRAVE in back to back weeks have left a sour taste in their mouth and may have to wait until their game against BALL BUSTERS or PARTY MIX to get the win they are searching for. Emmanuelle Bronsard has 20 TDs over 5 games should usually be enough to win games, but with the competition in Co-Ed 1, nothing is certain! Scoring all time lows of 17 and 18 against POWER RANGERS and KMO, they were able to put up 26 points against NORTHERN BRAVES. THE FUNNY CLUB will be their next competition and gatekeepers to the “big kids table”.
This team doesn’t have the offensive spread that other teams have had, but with 21 and 22 catches respectively, Gabriel-Charles Dabe Champagne and Julien Proulx have been the main targets for this offense. With the chance to finish the season with 5 wins, GIRL SCOUTS will need to rely on Sarah Berbiche and Marianne Lebrun – high tackle players – to continue to be a defensive wall. I expect the GIRL SCOUTS to be safe for their playoff run and should use this time to practice plays, red zone, and timing. Overall, a good showing from a team I underestimated.

THE FUNNY CLUB
I don’t think many of their opponents are finding this team humorous. Although they are sitting at 3-2, I think this team is better than their record. One of their losses comes from a busted cap forfeit and looking at the stats: They only inched their win against PARTY MIX in week 1… Either way, this comedy club killed its first tour and is now on its second go around with arguably a harder schedule! They still have to face NORTHERN BRAVES, KISS MY OUTLAWS, and POWER RANGERS, 3 of the top teams in the division. Guillaume Beland has had some back up help at QB from William Trottier and Alex Nadeau-Piuz, and collectively they have put up 22 TDs. However, with William Trottier also being the #1 receiver for the team, he doesn’t have much time for being QB. While most receivers have under 10 targets, William has 20. This makes for an offense that is very susceptible to being shut down if Will is covered well.
Looking at their schedule, the most impressive team that FUNNY CLUB has faced so far, has been the 3-3 JUSTICE LEAGUE. With an offense that relies mostly on William Trottier, a defense that only has 4 INTs, and half of their PDs are from Guillaume Beland, I’m not sure they will be able to put pressure on teams that have multiple threats. Despite a strong start, I think the jokes may soon be coming to an end. I will be looking at this team for potential upsets, but they should focus on just not falling into the elimination zone!

THE JUSTICE LEAGUE
As a superhero/comic book fan, I love both the team name and the jerseys! Still in the middle of the pack, but moved up a spot or two, THE JUSTICE LEAGUE are coming off a big win against LES BLEUS after losing to FAST NOT FURIOUS. Stepping back into the role of QB again for the LEAGUE is the wonder woman herself: Sara Parker. With 26 TDs in 6 games and 1141 Yards passing, she is one of the top QBs in the division and has the best accuracy of the bunch! I really like this team on paper, they have lost to the teams I expected them to lose to, and beat the teams I expected them to beat (Except GIRL SCOUTS… I expected them to beat GIRL SCOUTS). The receivers on this team have so many TDs, but one amongst them stands out: Amine Encina – 272 yards and 6 TDs. With a supporting cast of Matthew Peacock and Eric Deschambault, THE JUSTICE LEAGUE have been fighting evil all season.
Having been kicked around a bit by FAST NOT FURIOUS earlier this season, I expected JUSTICE LEAGUE to struggle a bit. However, they were able to keep the game against THE FUNNY CLUB closer than I expected, and have a mixed remaining schedule. This should give them a shot to end with 5-6 wins and a shot at a playoff run! FREE SMOKE and POWER RANGERS will give them a hard time finishing off the season, but with must win games against LES PETITS PHOQUES and PARTY MIX, will the JUSTICE LEAGUE be able to hold onto their season? They will need to rely on Anthony Lapointe, Virginie Aubut-Menard, and Kevin Lubin on defense to try and stop teams from scoring as much as they have: an average of 25 points per game.

FREE SMOKE
FREE SMOKE is one of the teams that have played the least amount of games so far this season and with their remaining schedule the way it is, may struggle to get wins over teams that have had more chances to play with each other. FREE SMOKE was able to win in week 1 over PARTY MIX ( a current elimination team), and then were able to beat EZ FUN for their 2nd win. In their upcoming schedule, FREE SMOKE will need to face off against 2 more big teams: KISS MY OUTLAW and FAST NOT FURIOUS! With Jimmy-Lee Janvier throwing almost 4 TDs a game (look like 6-8 is the magic number for Co-Ed 1) and keeping his turnover ratio almost 3:1, it’s a wonder they haven’t been able to close out games. Jimmy-Lee is currently sitting with 7 INTs and 7 SACKS as QB and will need to reduce those INT numbers to ensure that opponents are not getting extra chances to score.
FREE SMOKE is certainly showing off their ability to float! 3 different receivers have above 20+ targets and comprise 14 of the 19 TDS. Although all 3 receivers are having quite the season, one does stand out a bit more: Jean-Jacques Janvier (who I immediately assume is the brother of Jimmy-Lee due to the last name). Their female players are not slouches either! Josianne Martin has been a target multiple times and is a reliable offensive option that should not be slept on. Alexandra Ladouceur has a TD on offense and Metchlin Gabelus is killing the defensive game! Let’s see how much FREE SMOKE the competition can inhale before choking.

PARTY MIX
It’s a shock for me to be seeing PARTY MIX heading into the last couple of games in a precarious position. Then I looked at their games and found that they have been competitive the whole way! They got the win over THE FUNNY CLUB, they only lost to FREE SMOKE 21-25, clawed away at NORTHERN BRAVES for a 32-36 loss. Some of their other losses hurt their credibility, but Francios Deslauriers finds a way to continue to put up 4 TDs a game. However, I’m not sure 4 TDs is going to be enough for this intense Co-Ed 1. So far, the winning teams are putting up 30-40 points a game, and PARTY MIX has not been able to consistently do that. Luckily this responsibility isn’t all on Francois, PARTY MIX’s defense have not been able to keep their opponents to less than 30 points a game and will need to begin to do so if they want any chance at making it out of the elimination zone.
Their schedule doesn’t get easier, so PARTY MIX will need to adjust on the fly! The old reign of Co-Ed has come to a close but everyone’s favorite snack (just go with it) is hanging in there! They have hard matches coming up against KISS MY OUTLAWS and JUSTICE LEAGUE, but have some more chances at wins against GIRL SCOUTS and BALL BUSTERS. With the bottom 3 teams being cut from the playoffs, it seems like you’ll need around 3 wins to be safe from elimination, so PARTY MIX will need to be almost perfect to be able to get their chance at the Post season. I love the effort of this team, and always believe it ain’t over till it’s over!

EZFUN
I’ve really struggled to keep up with this team because they’ve been playing so many darn games! Having the most games played (7), we have the clearer picture of this team’s capabilities than others. They have only been able to beat LES BLEUS and PARTY MIX, and both those teams are still below them in the standings. EZFUN has yet to be able to win against a comparable or higher level team and with games coming up against POWER RANGERS, KISS MY OUTLAWS, and a rough and tumble set of GIRL SCOUTS. We may see EZFUN wall away from the season 2-5, but if they can manage to squeeze out the win against GIRL SCOUTS they may be able to avoid elimination! Nicolas Blais will need to start putting up more TDs to contend with the teams they have coming. He is able to spread the ball well and most receivers have caught at least 1 TD pass and he’s even scored a rushing TD!
Defensively, tackles are abundant and so are PDs, but it seems that they will need to come down with a few more INTS to turn the tide in their games. They are a relatively new team that has quickly shot to the highest division. Their wins are big and their losses are big, but with a bit more cohesion and practice they should be able to find a solid spot in Co-Ed. We will see what kind of playoff run this team has, but they will need to get some wins if they don’t want to face some team like NORTHERN BRAVES in round 1!

LES BLEUS
With the mid season coming to a close, LES BLEUS are the division’s last winless team, and their schedule is not going easy on them! POWER RANGERS, FAST AND FURIOUS, and FREE SMOKE will be difficult opponents for this team. The best matchup for them to get their win will most likely be against BALL BUSTERS in week 10. They have struggled to put up more than 18 points/game in a division that scoring 26 points still won’t guarantee a win. Andrea Heavia is starting her first year in FPF in Co-Ed 1 at QB, which may have been a bit ambitious for a player with no FPF experience, and it shows. She currently has a TD to INT ratio of roughly 1:2 and with only 1 or 2 TDs a game, I’m not sure they will be able to pick up that ever elusive win. That is not to say this is a bad team! I think this team could have found some real success in Co-Ed 2 or 3! The caliber of team in Co-Ed 1 is something different and I dont recommend any team start their venture in this division. Learn the league, timing and position, and you will find success.
Although Ludovik Biedermann is the most targeted receiver on the team it’s Simon Biedermann that has the most yards on the team. Their other receiving core is not sluggish either. 3 different receivers have 100+ yards, and for a team that doesn’t yet have 500 yards, the Biedermanns and Genevieve St-jean are holding the majority of the responsibility for this offensive unit. Defensively, it will be important to practice the basics and be patient. I’m not seeing a lot of tackles from multiple people, instead, Ludovik has a whopping 28 tackles (leading the division!) all to himself! I hope this team enjoys the rest of the season and maybe looks to drop down a level or 2 and try again in the Spring season!

BALL BUSTERS
I think BALL BUSTERS may have had a tough go of things, but have started to finally find their footing. Having to face the top half of the Division in the first part of the season found BALL BUSTERS unable to win out games. A week 1 loss against JUSTICE LEAGUE was the tip of the iceberg, then came POWER RANGERS, KISS MY OUTLAW, THE FUNNY CLUB….but in each game, the score got closer. We find ourselves now at game 6 with a record of 1-4, and I’m seriously thinking these busters can finish out this testicular season with a record of 4-6! They have NORTHERN BRAVES this week (another top team of the division), and after just beating FAST NOT FURIOUS in the potentially the biggest upset of the season, BALL BUSTERS will be looking to take out another strong team. Carmine Pollice has shown up back in the QB position after a serious injury, and his success has been great enough to keep up with QBs that have more games played! Still, with only 4 TDs a game (a total of 21 in 5 games), Carmine will need to find ways to push that average up to 5 if he wants to ensure the win for his team.
Sean Kennedy and Alex Roel have been the offensive saviors of this team with 7 and 6 TDs respectively, and continue to have Jimmy Coupethwaite as a great 3rd option with 190 yards receiving. With Jeff Brown eating all the tackles, the team is just missing some sacks to round out their defense. Allowing 32 – 40 points a game is always going to make it very hard on your team to win, however, with the opponents BALL BUSTERS have faced, I’m not sure we can expect any different. It will be up to them to show us if they deserve to be contenders in the playoffs, or if Co-Ed 1 may be a bit too rough for them.
