And ‘dem Bowls I got!

Hey FPF community! Iggy Magnets coming at you with one final mini article to carry on the momentum from the field, the morning after the last Bowl Finals game went down in Laval, and to wrap up this fun Fall Cup season.

Congrats to all the winners from Monday and Wednesday. A lot of teams have come either a long way in just 1 or 2 season in FPF, while others tasted victory for the first time in over 10 years of playing in this league. I’ve said it once (in very few articles, but mostly to the FPF media): FPF is the hardest league to win a championship in. The season is such a grind, the playoffs are such battle, the intensity is unrivaled, and the level of competition is elite. There are some SERIOUS athletes on the field, some crazy playmakers and you cannot afford to make any mistakes or your opponents will take advantage of you. Simply put, you have to give it everything you’ve got, on every single play if you want to raise a trophy (or banner in this case) to win it all. So again, congrats to your Bowl Champions, no one can take this championship away from you! Congratulations are in order for: KGP, Chocolate Thunder, Tough Lungs, Hot Sauce Sports, Warriors, FSU (no longer the False Kings!!), Pardon My Swag and EZFun. You were the best this Fall season had to offer, and now, it’s time to take you down in the Winter Season!

So before I go, a last minute analysis of the games I scorekept last night. I was able to catch Peeze and Hot Sauce Sports erase a 12-0 deficit over Ravens. The turning point in that game came in the form of Will Power in back-to-back plays. First, he jumped a deep sideline hook for the INT, and the very next play, Peeze was able to find him deep for the 20 yard score. Power single-handedly erased the 2-score deficit in 2 plays, and you could tell that it fired his entire team and was the catalyst for his teams victory.

Finals MVP: Will Power- 2 receptions, 27 yards, 1 TD, 2 tackles, 1 INT, 1 PD

As for the Tier 3 Cash Bracket, I thought this game would be closer, but Warriors really put the pedal down on Save a Horse offensively, and their defense smothered Kyle Daniel and forced him into the mistakes we mentioned would be their downfall. The game took a chippy turn near the end as the trash talking was on from both sides. but the refs quickly squandered that away with warnings and, true to their word, immediately followed it up with Objectionable Conduct penalties. Mitch Fergenbaum was accurate beyond belief and took the kill shot when the Horses were playing man, and connected with Benji Ziegler for a 32-yard score that put the Warriors up 20.

Finals MVP: Benji Ziegler – 10 receptions, 106 yards, 2 TDs, 2 tackles, 1 INT, 2 PDs

We hope everyone had a great time playing this season, starting all the way back on October the 13th! We hope you enjoyed watching Moe, Peeze and Eagle on Calling the Audible each and every week (and me sometimes), waiting to see if they analyzed your teams play. We hope you were craving more of Chris Rivest‘s fantastic efforts on GOTW, or were anxiously waiting for Lance Daniel to go live on IG in Lachine on Sundays to get an all-access view from inside the huddle. We hope that you had fun following the FPF community votes on Instagram every Saturday into Sunday’s games and that you looked forward to reading the next article to see if you made Alexi’s FPF Team of the Week, read Peeze’s 11 (and only 11) team recap, or follow my Tier Headlines from each week (that I wasn’t in St. Louis). Maybe you looked forward to the action shots of your team playing that week (did you see Dawson Pierre high pointing a jumpball 4-5 inches over defenders and his own brother? I’ve never seen an own teammate get Mossed!! — Check the 2nd image from the IG feed below!). We hope you loved it all and come back for more, because as time consuming as it is, we absolutely love bringing you the insights, the analysis, the discussions, the on-field access, because guess what, we love it as much as you do and want to bring you that next-level passion that comes with playing FPF.

Well that does it for the Fall Cup then and I hope to see you on the fields next month for the Winter season! Fall Cup is over, so the offseason begins NOW! Get ready cuz we’re coming right back at ya, starting Saturday January 8th!

Cheers,

Iggy Magnets
