A 35+ Football Story – Week 5

35+ FPF/KTFL Week 5 Article

It’s me, Hi, I’m the article writer, I’m going to craft a semi-well written story about a bunch of old dudes who still have it or at a least they think they do. Our broken bodies definitely know All Too Well, what we have left and continue to give’r in the pursuit of FPF championship glory.

Weather Drama Update, 2 week ago, Whiteouts and Snow everywhere, last week, -30 and our bits getting frostbit.  Now this week it’s +3 and provides extra time for us to enjoy some parking lot sodas without RED noses.  I wonder what awaits us next Wednesday.

It’s been made clear to me it’s Chris Olson and not Olsen, someone clearly doesn’t want to be associated with the uber talented Olsen Twins and their very Scarlett Sister.  I shall try to spell it better in the future.  If you have any other spelling errors you wish to address, please contact me on my MySpace page.

Parity in the KTFL division as teams continue to trade victory on the initial rematches. 2 teams at 3-2, 2 teams at 2-3, looks like the draft system worked it’s magic and teams are extremely close and balanced.  Rainmakers are 0-5 in the Legends division, but have lost 3 games by  6, 5 and 3 points.  With a re-built/replenished Roster, that elusive W isn’t far away.  I wouldn’t want to face them in round 1.  On the other hand, Pacemakers continue to set the pace in the Legends Division with a strong 4-1 record at the top of the division.

Shout out to the Div 5B game on field 3 Wednesday Night in Baie D’Urfe, between HimU & Primetime, those kids were having the time of their lives, tons of cheering and seemed like a ton of fun. It reached the point where I was just randomly snapping based on Owy’s stance cause I couldn’t hear thing.   It’s great to see everyone playing hard and being sportsmen.  We are blessed to have this league and a game that like shows everyone how fun it can be. While every game has a winner and loser, we are all here to have fun, play some great football, leave healthy and play in the greatest recreational league of all time.

Ok, Romeo’s and Juliette’s, it’s time to run screaming into this week’s action, let’s see how the 35+ week 5 action played out.

Legends Division

Pacemakers 30 – Rainmakers 27

Rainmakers keep their close but no cigar season trend going as they drop another heartbreaker.  They had the ball driving late but couldn’t make the key catches to seal the victory. Losing isn’t fun, losing close is even worse, as mentioned above with 3 close loses, they win eventually find the W.  Justin Anania balls out with 4 TD’s on 4 catches!  I guess he’s a red zone specialist. 2 key picks by Pacemakers’ Jordan Rossie lock down the victory as Pacemakers sit atop the Legends Divisions.

Key Stats – Justin Anania’s 2 way game with 4 TD’s and 4 tackles/2 PD’s and Jordan’s 2 INT’s.

Monster 36 – Gladiateurs 31

While the above game wasn’t won on the last play, here we have Monster taking the W on the last play of the game with a “Monster” TD from Andy Peterkin to Mike Smith to seal the victory. Alex Lever steps in at QB for an absent Francois Lebeau and doubles his counterparts completions with 22, but not enough to take home the win as both teams settle in at 3-2 on the season.  Mr. Lever definitely finds a connection with Alex Moreau and Nicolas Gumier who each have multiple catches, 90+ yards and 2 TD’s, but it’s Monster doing it by committee on Offence as 5 different players score TD’s.

Key Stats –  11 TD’s between the 2 teams and only 1 converted convert. C’est Pas Bon Ca.

KTFL Draft Division

FPF 33 – Paramount 27

Round 2 for these teams and the results flip as FPF avenges their first loss of the season and takes down Paramount in a close one.  Rough day at the office for the usual hot hand of Chris OLSON who unfortunately gets tagged for 3 INT’s which seems to the be maing factor on the scoreboard.  Cory Sim-Robertson as usual leads the way for Paramount Teal Defence, but it’s the FPF offence with a solid performance as Jeff Rosenblatt finds the end zone 5 times, 3 times alone to Rob Bohbot.  Paramount had a chance to take the win on the final drive, but 35+ 2 Way beast, Yoni gets the game ending pick in the final drive.  I was told to mention Christian Ackad’s interception…. By Christian… so I’ve mentioned it.  Christian brings his BBQ to KTFL often so we like him and therefore get’s his name mentioned.  2 things get your draft position move up in KTFL, Beer Selection and BBQ, whether you can play or not is irrelevant.

Key Stats – Rob Bohbot’s 3 TD’s and surprise, surprise Yoni is the 2 way player of the night with 8 catches with 1 TD while also picking up 2 INT’s on defence.

Polvige 40 – JMJ 28

Another rematch, another turning of the tables as Polvige evens the regular season record at 1-1 with JMJ. An exciting game where Polvige’s Purple reign defence leads with way with 3 INT’s including Owy’s pick 6. Jason Rossie spreads the ball to 7 receivers and finally gets Longhorns Legend Jon Moodie his first TD of the season, but it’s not enough to take down everyone’s favorite Purple team. Kevin Kousaie leads the day on offence with 2 TD’s, but he’s probably already told you twice about it. Special shout-out to David Ness who wore his Cowboy Hat.  No one knows why, but we own so I hope he does it again next week.

Key Stats – Polvige going 4 for 5 on converts, Chris “Ageless” Rosen with 6 tackles and a pick on Defence.

Key Un-Stat – having injured Terry Tam on the sideline, yelling and screaming like Tim McGraw in Friday Night Lights, wearing a very soiled hoodie.  I think I’ll buy Terry a Tide stick and maybe a razor so he looks a little less homeless.

Well I feel this has been another smashing success of a article and maybe a Pulitzer is in my future.

Enjoy the Superbowl, someone text me the score, I’ll be asleep by halftime.  The NFL is the worst football out there, it’s almost unwatchable on a good day.  NCAA for life.  No, I’m not wrong, you are.

However, Andy Reid is awesome.  Big Boy Brigade all day long.  Google ”Andy Reid NFL Pass Punt and Kick” if you want to see the worlds largest 13 year old.  If you’ve never seen the video, you are in for a treat.

That’s it, it’s over, time to flush and get out of the bathroom, you’ve spent too much time reading this Fearless tribute.

See you on the field

Thanks

Dave
