Who are Green Munchs?

Before his game VS Mongoose, Ben McMahon told me he would give me something to write about in this week’s article… and that he did. McMahon went 23 of 28 for 217 yards and 5 touchdowns to give G.I.H.F. their first win of the season. He seemed in complete control of the offense from start to finish. Big win for G.I.H.F. after I called them out last week! Good stuff boys!

The up and down season for Blues Clue’s continues. They walked all over Bearskins on Monday night winning 50-6! Just a week after losing to The Stoics, they looked unstoppable this past week. AJ Gomes threw for 6 touchdowns and their defense scored 2 touchdowns of their own. With all the household names on this team, it was actually the youngster Xavier Couture who impressed me the most in this one. He got 2 receiving touchdowns and a pick 6. Keep up the good stuff young fella!

Our third tie of the season comes from the battle of the dogs. Junkyard Dogs and ALPHA DOGS tied at 28 in week 4. JYD converted on a 4th down and then Hugo Allamanno scored a 10 yard touchdown on the last play of the game to tie it! They then went for a 1 point convert for the win and failed.

EZW is still looking for their first win of the season after losing to The Infantry 39-19. They take on Mangoose Saturday night where they hope to end their 4 game losing streak.

Les Maloudes are also looking for their first win of the season. The play Gros Coqs this week in what almost figures to be a must-win.

I can’t help but feel for the 49ers. Purdy gets injured and then Josh Johnson who’s played for every NFL team three times gets injured. Gotta credit the Eagles who are back in the Super Bowl after that famous Philly Special. With a completely new team I might add. I was kinda rooting for the Bengals, but the Chiefs and Eagles promises to be a great Super Bowl.

Found some interesting stats while browsing the FPF website. Silent Ticklers are averaging 40 points per game, Mangoose has the best +/- of plus 77, That’s What She Said’s defense has 12 picks in 4 games and Les Gros Coqs have 8 receivers with at least one receiving touchdown this year!

Backyard Bullies fail to score even a single touchdown this week. They got shutout by That’s What She Said 26-0. They have surprisingly only scored 41 points in their first 3 games. There’s a lot of FPF experience on this squad so I expect them to turn things around. Gotta be soon though!

Game Previews

Blackouts VS Junkyard Dogs

Blackouts have not played since their loss against Blue Chips back on January 21st. They’ll be extra hungry in this one. If they want to be championship contenders, which they are in my opinion, they need to find ways to beat teams like Blue Chips. Getting their second win of the season won’t come easy though as they face a gritty Junkyard Dogs team looking to improve to 3-1-1. I can see this game unfolding where the last team that has the ball wins the game. Both JYD and blackouts have receivers all across the board that compliment each other very well. You have a variety of speed and big-bodied receivers. I expect on offensive shootout.

In order for JYD to win this game they will need to be in control of the game. Meaning, they cannot afford to fall behind early. The last thing you want to do against this Blackouts team is feel the need to start taking unnecessary deep shots on them. However, both Rossie and Sinagra love slinging the ball deep so what do I know? One thing I do know is that converts will be huge in this game. I see both QBs throwing for 5-6 touchdowns with the difference being who is more consistent on extra points.

Like I said, I think this will be a fun, high-scoring, back and forth type game. Gimme Blackouts in a close one.

Final Score: Blackouts win 40-38

Questions to Ponder

Here are some questions I have based on the start of the season…

How good are Speed Academy?

It’s kinda tough to tell because all 3 of their games have looked somewhat different. They’re sitting at 1-1-1 after having tied Mongoose, losing badly to Greendale Human Beings, and beating Green Munchs. While quarterback Emile Plante’s stats don’t look incredible with 12 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, I have been impressed with his play. He reads the field relatively easily and throws a pretty ball. Rusher, Jessica Bositampen, has been making a name for herself. She already has 5 sacks in only 2 games. This team has the pieces to make some noise.

Is That What She Said a true championship contender?

I think so. Their roster is one of the most well rounded in all of division 3. They have a solid offense and defense. As I mentioned earlier they already have 12 interceptions on the season. I think they’ll go as far as quarterback Leandre Ethier takes them. Excited to see how he will fare against The Infantry’s defense this week!

Who are Green Munchs?

The majority of their players are new to FPF. That hasn’t stopped them from making an immediate impact. They have already beaten The Infantry who are filled with talent and FPF experience. They are sitting at 2-2 with one of those losses coming without their QB Antoine Ouimet. I spoke to Iggy Magnets about this squad and he loves what he sees. Their football experience is evident and they have the athleticism to more than compete. Don’t sleep on these guys!

Who will get their first win of the season? Backyard Bullies or Une Phrase Bien Fournie? Check my picks to see my answer. The matchup to watch here is Jordan Allard against Yvan Desjardins. If I’m Xavier Bilodeau I would look to target Desjardins a little bit more. This is a very important game for both teams. We are slowly nearing the halfway point of the season. The schedule does not get easier for either team after this game. So as Al Davis said…. JUST WIN BABY!!

Ballers of the week
