Div 1 & 2 Playoff Breakdown/Weekly Previews
Division 1&2 Playoff Preview
What it do Div 1&2!? FPF articles have returned to the previous format. I’m glad to be writing for the best players in the league. I want to say that the competition in both Divisions has been amazing this season, a lot of games and a lot of highlight worthy plays. Congratulations to all the Hall Of Fame candidates and Inductees, very well deserved. The regular season is winding down with only two weeks left so it’s time to talk about playoff situations.
Division 1
Playoff Breakdown:
In Division 1, five teams qualify for the post-season.
There are THREE playoff rounds:
- Quarterfinals: 4 vs 5
- Semifinals: 2 vs 3; 1 vs QF winner
- Championship Finals
4 Teams have secured a playoff spot: YCSWU, Braves, STL, Got-Skills. The only thing that can change for these teams are positions in the standings and playoff match ups.
The battle for the last playoff spot is between Da finest and Flag Moi L’Sac. They share the same 3-6 record but Da finest have a better +/- and currently sit in 5th.
Power rankings and previews:
- Braves
- STL
- YCSWU
- Got-Skills
- Da Finest
- Flag Moi L’Sac
Only two games happening this week for Division 1
Got-Skills vs Flag Moi L’Sac: Both teams are coming into this game fresh off some big wins. Got-Skills beat Da Finest thanks to a clutch pick 6 from recent Hall Of Fame inductee Tam Vilaydeth. Flag Moi pulled off an incredible upset win vs Braves, beating them 52-47. Alex Nadeau-Piuze will need a full line up in this game because this is a must win for them if they want to make the playoffs. When these teams first met at the beginning of the season, Flag Moi squeezed a win by 1 point (33-32). Expect a strong defensive presence from both teams in this game.
PREDICTION: Got-Skills 30-28
YCSWU vs Da Finest: These teams met for the first time in week 1 and YCSWU got the best of the veteran squad with a 31-19 win. Da Finest will need to take this one if they want to secure a spot in the playoffs. If they fail to get the win they’ll need Flag Moi L’Sac to lose vs Got-Skills. On the other side of things, YCSWU just suffered a loss to STL last week and will try their best to finish the season with a bounce back win before the playoffs. If Da Finest have a full roster present, this game will be close.
PREDICTION: YCSWU 38-34
Division 2
Playoff Breakdown:
In Division 2, eight teams qualify for the post-season.
There are THREE playoff rounds.
- Quarterfinals
- Semifinals
- Championship Finals
7 Teams have secured a playoff spot in Division 2: #NR, BYOB, The Underachievers 2.0, Taco Tuesday, Terror Squad, Les Studs and Bad Boys. The only thing that can change for these teams are positions in the standings and playoff match ups.
The battle for the last playoff spot is between No Cap, Killa Bees and Lightweight. No Cap and Killa Bees share the same 2-7 record but No Cap have a better +/- so they currently sit 8th. Lightweight got their first win of the season last week and if they can win their last two they’ll squeeze into that last spot.
Power rankings and previews:
- #NR
- BYOB
- The Underachievers
- Taco Tuesday
- Terror Squad
- Les Studs
- Bad Boys
Only 3 games left this week for Division 2.
No Cap vs Lightweight: These teams haven’t had the best season but are also new to the division and have been learning from every game. Simon Dagenais and squad are feeling good after securing their first win last week, if they can get two more they’ll find themselves in the post season. No Cap must win if they want the spot. They lost the last 3 straight games but will be hungry to reach post season.
PREDICTION: Lightweight 38-33
BYOB vs Taco Tuesday: BYOB came out of last week victorious with a close 1 point win over Bad Boys 39-38. Taco Tuesday are coming off a terrible defeat to The Underachievers 2.0, losing by 20. Both teams will make post season but will still compete at 100% to make sure all things are cleaned up before then. I expect a lot of points from both sides in this one.
PREDICTION: Taco Tuesday 42-40
The Underachievers 2.0 vs Les Studs: Both of these teams were able to turn their season around after not having the ideal start they wanted. They’ve both climbed up the standings too and have secured a playoff spot. The only question that remains is, how will their season finish? I expect The Underachievers 2.0 to take advantage of this team the way they did to Taco Tuesday last week. With that said, we can never count out opposing QB Sam Carron who is new to Div 2 but still very sharp and adapting quick.
PREDICTION: The Underacheivers 2.0 34-26
