Division 5A & 5B Week 4 Recap
Week 4
Seeing as it’s Super Bowl Sunday, I’ll keep this short and sweet.
Stay tuned later this week where I will recap all of the teams in each Division and highlight what they will need to do to be successful in the second half of the season.
Go Rams!
5A
Voodoo 24 vs. Longhorns 20
At one point in this game, it felt like both teams we’re actively trying to lose on purpose. Obviously that wasn’t the case, but out of the 6 interceptions thrown in the game, 3 or 4 of them came within 5 minutes of game play. One word to describe this one, defence.
Voodoo didn’t start well, but they ended well. They were without Patrick St-Armand in this one and it showed early. Their offense stalled somewhat until they could get things figured out and the Longhorns took advantage. Just a piece of advice, if you’re playing the Longhorns, you may want to double cover Adam Rosen. Most of their offense went through the younger Rosen in this one and he scored their first touchdown of the game after Voodoo couldn’t convert on 4th down.
Frank Kaye’s second drive was a little bit better but they still ended up having to punt. What did the Longhorns do in response? They punted right back! Frank Kaye wasn’t about to start the game 0 and 3 and took advantage of the kicking contest to take the ball and drive the field. It only took 3 plays and was capped by a 21 yard touchdown to Angelo Garofolo who had himself a very solid game for Voodoo in the absence of St-Armand. Moodie answered on the next drive with a touchdown pass to Jazon and Garofolo wasn’t liking it. He thought that Jazon pushed off and an objectionable conduct penalty was the result.
After back to back interceptions as I mentioned earlier, Kaye got his chance at a rebuttal and threw a short touchdown to Martin Bergeron. Moodie threw his next two interceptions on back to back passes after the first one was brought to the house by Garofolo. Told you he was all over this one. Both defences stepped up and made it incredibly tough for the rest of the game. Each team would trade scores but the interception for a touchdown by Garofolo would hold up to be the difference. The Longhorns had one last chance with 3 plays left but ultimately fell short.
Super Saiyans 30 vs. Buffalo Wild Wings 24
A game that certainly caught the Saiyans by surprise, or was this a game that showed us the true potential of Buffalo Wild Wings? Let’s take a look.
The game started as the Super Saiyans hoped it would. They forced a quick punt by the Buffalo Wild Wings and then score on their own first drive. The next two drives we’re almost a repeat, as they forced another stop and then put up 6 more to go up 12 to nothing. That’s when the game saw its first turning point. Before the half, Buffalo Wild Wings we’re able to benefit from a pass interference call on 4th down to keep the drive alive and score a little later in order to keep the game close. After scoring twice, Buffalo Wild Wings still had a lot of hope only down 18-12 at the half.
After a short break, the defenses began to step up. Each team had a three and out of their own to start the second half and then traded scores yet again. This was the point where you could see a little bit of tentativeness on the Saiyans side. With only a few minutes left, Tristan Rinaldis drove the field and tied the game and left the Saiyans only 5 plays left in the game.
Turns out, it was 1 play too many. Jordan Allard really displayed how much he has grown as a quarterback on their last drive. He started with a few short passes to get some rhythm and then hits Troy Rothdram on a deep out at the sideline to get the Saiyans into the redzone. After a batted ball, Jordan went to his bag of tricks and called the perfect play to find his favorite target on the night, Rothdram, wide open in the back of the endzone to get the win at the last possible moment.

Finessers 24 vs. EZW 44
What’s a night at the field without a little bit of drama? This game started off rocky for Finessers as they had a player who was not on the roster show up to play, but for some reason they didn’t add him to the player sheet before the game and thus, he was not able to suit up. Maybe that got them off their game a little bit as they started the game without Ryan Kharouf under center. Jeremy White didn’t waste any time putting his stamp on this one and got an early interception on Thomas G-Lajoie. Two plays later, White hit Mathieu McDuff for 34 yards to give EZW a 6 point lead.
The second drive with Kharouf wasn’t much better as they quickly went 3 and out after two incomplete passes by Kharouf. What ensued was almost a repeat of the first drive, but this time around it was Charles-Olivier Lavigne who found the endzone on a pass play over 30 yards. Ryan Kharouf found his rhythm on his second drive utilizing Alex Bachaalani early on and finishing it off with a touchdown pass to Jad Mariamo. Finessers really turned it on towards the end of the first half by picking off Jeremy White shortly after and then a 40 bomb to Bachaalani.
Turns out, White would have the last laugh, though, as he picked off Kharouf on the ensuing drive and then scored on within a few plays on two back to back catches by Samuel Emilio Pelchat. If you haven’t been following, this made the score 25 to 12 for EZW. After going back and forth and both offenses clicking on all cylinders, the game ended on a pick-six by Felix Leger.
I really think that without the turmoil early on, this game would have been much closer and then who knows who may have one. Both teams were able to move the ball well, save a few mistakes by each QB and overall the game was extremely exciting. Finessers will have to figure things out moving forward while EZW has looked unstoppable of late. I’m sure they’re thankful they don’t have to play The Process anytime soon.
Thundercats 12 vs. Mo Bamba 32
As this game went on, it was clear that the Thundercats were no match for Mo Bamba. It took me a while to figure out where the name came from, and it wasn’t until I was in a rental car with a fresh new Sirius subscription to have the song come on the radio. Clever.
While Andrew Vanslet’s completion percentage wasn’t as impressive as Drew Brees’, he was great at finding holes in the Thundercats defense to make big plays when necessary, mostly to Ryan Vanslet. Mo Bamba scored early and took the lead and Felix Vaillancourt-Tremblay just began to force balls and make errant passes in an attempt to drive a come back. He did show a flash of brilliance in his only run of the game and actually scored from his own 10 yard line.
Other than that, not much was working. Ryan Vanslet and William Paquette each picked off Vaillancourt-Tremblay and Andrew Vanslet averaged an impressive 15 yards per completion on the offensive side. Turns out he pretty much refused to look into the short game, and that’s something he may want to tweak as he prepares for other opponents.
Overall, Mo Bamba had a few too many weapons and came out with the win and look to climb in the rankings at the midpoint of the season. For the Thundercats, it’s back to the drawing board.

Corey’s Love ‘EM & Hate ‘EM
For the segment this week, I’ll be recapping my predictions from last week as we come up to the bye week.
5A Recap
I think I’m starting to get a hang of this thing. My correct calls from last week include Joseph Buffone having his best game of the season, Dylan Segall got himself a touchdown of about 20 yards which I predicted. Danny Aylward had a decent game, but was out earned again by Alex Joltopuf which seems to be happening quite a bit. Thomas Coutu had a respectable game but couldn’t seem to find the endzone. Was that his fault or was it due to Nic Schaefer having a game he’d like to redo? I’d say the latter.
Alex David, you on the other hand seem to enjoy proving me wrong. Second straight week I call it the wrong way as he led his team in catches and touchdowns in Week 4. Ben McMahon also came back to life but still managed to put up 4 TDs in a tie, let’s call that one a wash, but he also affected my Hasani Worrell call, only getting 10 yards receiving. We can probably say the same for Tristan Rinaldis who managed less than 100 yards against the Super Saiyans defense. Frank Kaye did pretty good until he decided to throw 3 interceptions, but having come away with the win I’m sure he won’t mind. Props to Justin Cerantola who also proved me wrong and threw for 4 touchdowns and come away with the victory. That was an impressive win for Broccasion. Finally, while Steve Sanner txted me to compliment Thomas Coutu, he still did enough to get Bruthers a win.
5B Recap
As usual, Jeremy White and EZW put up a monster offensive game which saw White throw for more than 200 yard and 6 total TDs. On the other hand, Ian Einheiber let me down and put up a similar stat line as yours truly in Week 4. Sometimes when it comes to predicting a QB performance, it’s not fun to be right, which is the case for Massimo Manago. The Black Knights seemed to be just too big and athletic and Manago had difficulties all game long as I predicted. Poisson was his lead receiver as I mentioned but in a tough game, that meant only 4 catches and a TD.
My favorite prediction of the week came true and we saw Junior Spera lead the Punishers with 5 catches for 71 yards and two touchdowns. I tried to warn Les Carcajous, don’t underestimate us big men in the middle of the field. I seem to do a lot better in 5B as I also predicted that Jimmy Marneris of A-Town would struggle, but good for you Simon Richard to still get 6 catches. It only turned into 42 yards and a score, but when your team only scores 12, you did all you could from the receiver position. Finally, in the Dope Boys against ORSA game, Guillaume Godard fell very short and Marino Marino got his.
“You Ball, You get the Call”
It’s been a hectic week for me, so there’s a few guys missing from this list as we just couldn’t coordinate in time and that’s on me. A few notables who were left are were both Zacharie Quiviger and Nicolas Saro from Rollin’ with Mahomies who absolutely balled out. Zach put up 7 passing touchdowns and 5 of them were to Saro, on only 8 catches. Also, Jeremy White continues to blow up the division after a second straight game of at least 6 passing touchdowns. Two other notables were Zach Zwirn who continues to be a big presence on the Bruins and Ryan Vanslet, a lesser known player but somebody with a bright future.
5A
Super Saiyans – Troy Rothdram – 7 catches, 73 yards, 4 TDs
- What’s the best part about having Jordan as your QB?
the best part about having Jordan as my qb is that we’ve played tackle together and weve played in the school yard together back in the day, so we know each others strengths and weaknesses really well.
- What’s the worst part about having Jordan as your QB?
The worst part about having Jordan as my qb is that he’s plays full time on defence too, so sometimes he misses the opportunity to sit back and think about what the other team is throwing at us. Not that we have much of a choice tho, as he is one of our best defenders.
- It was a close game but you guys managed to just barely come out on top. Did you take them too lightly and they surprised you? What happened?
Against Buffalo Wild wing we had a hard time on defence due to the fact that our play caller on D (Jon) was late. We usually bend but don’t break but this team was able to punch the ball in for 4 scores. The talent level of their qb surprised me. He played really well and almost stole the game from us.
BFPM8 – Evan Ely Nolet – 18/29, 155 yards, 5 TDs, 2 rushes, 10 yards, 1 Def. INT
- You guys have been in pretty close games. What’s been the biggest difference between the wins and losses?
Our defense is in my opinion one of the top defenses In the division they keep us in every single game. So it all comes down to if I could march down that field and score because they do their job every single game.
- Inidividually, you went from 5 interceptions last week to 5 TDs this week, what did you change about your game?
Last week against GLC I was making way too many mental mistakes and was trying to force some throws over the middle and do what I was comfortable with. This week against the Spartans I had a warm up game in Co Ed division. I just felt our offense was clicking on a whole other level. Rico Tulino shiftiest man with the ball in his hands was just making some big clutch catches. Zackary Albert’s Gill playing snapper is just a mis match for anybody. They just couldn’t keep up with him on the quick out routes so he just ate all day long. Everybody on the offense is a weapon I could go to anybody on any play and I love that about my receivers.
- Who do you try to style your game after, if you could pick. Could be somebody from the pros, somebody else in FPF, anybody?
Growing up I loved Brett Favre his gunslinger mentality. Just put everything you got into every pass. So I would have to go with him, not very mobile but I like to put some heat on the ball when I throw it.
Outlaws – Shyanne Stewart – 3 catches, 22 yards, 2 TDs, 2 tackles, 2 INTs, 2 PDs, 1 Def. TD
- Would you consider that one of your best two way performances of the year?
Yes it was one of my top 2 way performances so far but the best is still to come
- Why do you think quarterbacks still test you out there?
We have so much talent all over the field and sometimes they just need to try and see what happens
- You guys have a lot of individual talent on the team, was it tough to create chemistry? Are there still challenges you guys face?
Most of us have played together for a few season so we all know what is expected of us yes there are still challenges a head the season isn’t even half over yet. I’m sure that we will face some adversity at some point this season and that will help us build character
5B
Player Recognition – Nick Cenacle – 14/20, 181 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT, 1 tackle, 1 PD, 1 INT
- It looks like this is your first season in FPF, can you tell us a bit about your football history and where you’re currently playing?
Well I’ve been playing football since I was 8 played pretty much every position but WR has always been my main one This year I represented team Quebec and Canada and right now I’m currently playing WR for the Vanier cheetahs
- What’s your vision for Player Recognition this season?
To be honest I believe after a couple more games together will be unstoppable
- Who’s your favorite NFL team and why?
My favourite team in the NFL right now is the Atlanta falcon because I believe they have the best WR squad in the league
La Brume – Jimmy-Lee Janvier – 14/24, 217 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT
- You guys have a lot of experience but are a newly formed team. What can we expect the rest of the way?
You have to expect to see a team in full expansion. We all want the championship and we will do everything to achieve our goal.
- Putting up 39 against Takeover is impressive, what worked so well for you?
We are all alumni of College Ahunstic so we have a good chemistry. We worked as a team and adjust to our opponents. We’re having fun and we balling. That’s what make us dangerous.
- Do you have any personal goals this year besides winning a championship?
I just want to see my teams be champion and be the best QB I can for them
EZW – Jeremy White – 16/22, 223 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT, 3 tackles, 2 Def. INTs, 1 PD
- 97 points in the last two games after only scoring 6 in Week 2, what changed?
I feel like we just had a bad game in week 2. It happens. A couple of guys from the team we’re missing and I got frustrated early in the game. I feel like I learned a lot from that game. Sometimes the game is not going your way but you just have to focus on the next play and do it one play at the time. I have to say that The Process was a very good team and I can’t wait to play against them in the playoffs. The last 2 game simply represent what we are able to do as a team. We just played good football. I think that my teammates and I learn a lot from each game we play so we definitely get better each week.
- Looks like you were very wrong on your SuperBowl picks. Please tell me you’re betting on the Patriots?
I was very wrong. I think that the Chargers simply didn’t show up against the Patriots and we know what happened to the Saints. I also learned a lesson with that prediction: Never bet against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. So even though I would love to see the rams win the Super Bowl, I would bet on the Patriots to win it.
- It seems like every week a new guy steps up for you. Who are your favorite targets or guys you have the best chemistry with?
As we are at our third season together, I really feel like I have a great chemistry with everyone. I have a great relationship and a lot of trust in everyone in my team. I think that it’s a big reason why our offense is effective.
