Life Changing Moments, a Tie and Some Thoughts

Peeze’s Playbook

Week 10

By Paolo Della Rocca

On March 3rd of this year, I got engaged to an amazing woman who I’ve spent the last 4 years with.  I am lucky enough to have met my soul mate and we’ve chosen to spend our lives together.  However, what’s been truly heartwarming to me was the response from FPF players and officials.

Every coin toss since referees have taken a moment to congratulate me and eery time I’ve entered a feel I’m greeted by a fleet of smiling faces.  In some cases players have traveled across fields to give me their well wishes.  I wanted to take a moment to truly thank all of you who have came to congratulate me.  I’m truly touched.

Los Banditos Stay A Float

We first saw Vincent Benjamin make his debut in FPF during the fall season.  He has since begun to become a staple of FPF ability and is one of the best game changers in the lower divisons.  In a game where Banditos needed to solidify a spot in the playoffs, he was as big as he was on most nights.  His three touchdowns, combined with a touchdown thrown to Loic Savoiz-Seguin was all the offence LB needed on this day.  A 25-25 tie has them sitting on 8th seed at the time.

Channel 4 News Team is one of the highest ranked teams in the division.  Still, I’ve had my doubts this season.  Greg Castiel was good for the most part.  He completed 10 of 16 passes and he threw 3 touchdowns.  He threw two interceptions to Gabriel Villemarie and another to Vincent Benjamin.  They did all they could in the second half, outscoring Los Banditos 19-12 in the second half.  However, they got behind the eight ball early and their inability to score a key extra point saw this game end in a draw.

“The Brewers, TEAR DOWN THAT WALL”

When I went to go help the Brewers learn the game, my expectations were not high.  This was exacerbated by the fact that they were playing against Air Force 1.  The game only lasted a half as both teams conceded to the mercy rule.  In that half James Moulton learned some hard lessons.  Moulton was intercepted a few times throwing across his body and learned that long developing plays are harder to read. Edouard Arsenault of Air Force one was a monster in patrolling the middle of field.  This culminated into a ridiculous interception as he rose above everyone and intercepted a ball anticipated for a receiver several yards behind him and he engulfed the ball with one hand.

On the other hand Simon Blais was on fire.  It seemed as though everything was open as he completed all 5 of his pass attempts.  Four of those pass attempts were caught for touchdowns.  One such pass was a perfect pass down the sideline to David Van Oordt. This game lasted only a half, in that time, Air Force 1 would put up 39 points and allow none.

Week 10 Power Rankings

Division 6

  1. Vick in a Box (9-0): They are simply the best team in the division.  Perhaps they enjoy being a big fish in a small pond.
  2. Fighting Falmingos (8-1): FF are strong at every position on both sides of the ball.  They are going to be a menace to deal with in the playoffs.
  3. 2 Flags, One Cup (8-1): Ryan Vanslet’s stellar 14 touchdowns may be the best season that no one is talking about.   Fill up your red solo cup and have a party cause these boys are going to make some noise in the second season.
  4. The U (6-3): They’ve won 3 of their last 4 and the U, despite being somewhat flawed are one of the hottest teams heading into the playoffs.
  5. Practice Squad (7-2): Their last three games have not been against contenders as none of their last three opponents will make the playoffs.  However, Shayne Feinberg has thrown 15 touchdowns in that span and only 2 interceptions.
  6. Channel 4 News Team (6-2-1): I have my concerns about C4NT (the fear of typos is real).  The teams that handle them well are the teams that game plan and can exploit their bizarre defense.  The playoffs will feature the best quarterbacks of the division so I do think that C4NT are a strong team but with some question marks.
  7. Bruins (5-3-1): A little rough around the edges, however, they are definitely trending in the right direction. Antoine Hyunh has now topped his best career season by recording 12 touchdowns.
  8. Pension Plan (7-3): This may be a little harsh, however, I’m not happy with how PP ended the season.  I know them pretty well, I don’t think they’re happy with it either.

Division 6D

  1. Air Force 1: If ever there was a case for a March Madness type playoff, AF! Is making that case. This team would compete in Division 6.
  2. Sick Bick: Ever hear of Mitch Fergenbaum?  No?!?!?! Well, he’s averaging 4.6 TDs a game and 175 yards passing in each contest.
  3. Ball So Hard U: I’m aware they lost to Green Monster.  However, I like their ability to score points and they seem to truly be built for the playoffs.
  4. Quackers (7-2): Quackers have not allowed more than 7 points since before Valentine’s day! ‘Nuff said.
  5. Green Monster (7-2): Ok Green Monster, I see you.  They won in week 10.  However they only scored 8 points in the process.  I don’t care what anyone says, this will continue to worry me.
  6. Krakens (5-4): This is a power ranking, not a standings page.  Krakens have won four in a row and 5 of their last 6 games!
  7. Broke Boys (6-3): Their only loses have come against top 5 teams.  Perhaps not a true contender but still a team no one should take lightly.
  8. Black Sox (5-4): Black Sox guaranteed themselves at least a .500 record with a win in week 10.  They did so with no Addona in the lineup.  Nico Lanni was the key against Baker Boys. He had three sacks, and a pick 6.  On offence, he caught one of the two offensive touchdowns for Black Sox.
