Big match-ups mark an eventful Week 4

Week 3 is in the books, and Week 4 is upon us. There are a couple of must see matches that are likely to stand out this week. The no name@ vs Tigers contest is one of those.

Both teams are coming off wins, and strong offensive showings. The Tigers nearly put up a 40 burger in their 38-20 win over the Redmen, while team no name@ laid a 31-0 beatdown on the Fuzzy-Kittens.

Each squad possess playmakers on both sides of the ball who are more than capable of putting up huge numbers. Rob White, Johnny Symonds, Chris Fields, Akeem Gordon, Jameel Greenidge are just some of the names that I expect to put on a show Sunday night in Lachine.

The Falcons vs TDs and Beer should also be a good tilt. While the TDs and Beer come into the game after a forfeit victory over Los Guapos (more on that later), the Falcons come off a 19-19 tie with the Looney Goons.

After looking really good offensively the first two weeks, the Falcons struggling on offense in the first half of their game against the Looney Goons.  The Falcons did wake up and score two second stanza TDs to earn the tie. While they be able to avoid a slow start again this week?

For TDs and Beer, besides getting a valuable 2 points, the win over Los Guapos did nothing for their timing and execution. Will the 1 week layoff hurt them?

High Five

The Smash Bros Offense – The combination of QB Jonah Cohen and WR Vincent Bastrash just tore apart the Royalty defense. These two hooked up 8 times for 127 yards and 4TDs. Bastrash even showed out on the other side of the ball as he picked up two interceptions.

Justin Santillo – the One Man Show WR and rusher showed us that his team doesn’t just consist of well-just one player, as he picked up 84 yards and 2TDs on 3 catches against the Smokin’ Axolotls. It’s not often Dangerous Danny D’Amour gets outperformed by a teammate.

James D’Andrea – Last week I put the Royalty pivot (along with some other QBs) on notice that he needed to take his game to another level in the Step It Up section. It looks like he listened to my advice, as he came out and had by far, his best outing of the season against the aforementioned Smash Bros. Despite the loss, there were some positives that D’Andrea and his team can build on going forward. He’ll have a chance to show everybody this Monday versus Flight of the Conchords.

Cesar Martinez – The Bloodmachines two-way threat who makes his 2nd appearance on the list in 2 weeks had another solid outing on both sides of the ball against an overmatched The Fat and The Furious squad. Martinez added his 3rd,4th, and 5th TD of the season, and his 3rd and 4th INT.

Dylan DrakeThe Big Blue Wrecking Crew 4th year player single-handedly beat Mile Public House as he recorded a seas-son high 3 TDs on 4 catches for 66 yards. He also added a pick 6 and 3 tackles on Defense. Dylan should be able to add to those totals as his team takes on a disappointing JeanGuy squad this coming Tuesday night.

Step It Up

The Fat and the Furious Run D…again – After giving up 107 yards to the Tigers’ combo of Rahul Mohan and Jameel Greenidge in their Week 2 over the Tigers, Double F was at it again last week as they gave up 74 yards on 5 carries to Bloodmachines’ QB Charles-Olivier Lavigne. The nearly 15 yards per rush average is staggering, and something that must be fixed ASAP!

Los Guapos – Simply put, they forfeited their game against TDs and Beer. While I don’t know the reason for the forfeit, the fact is that it happened. That’s not only a waste of money for both teams, but it also robs both squads of getting a chance to work on some things and better themselves.

Single Digit Scoring – For the second week in a row, we’ve seen a lot of one-sided games in Div E. 3 of those games saw 3 teams score in the single digits. This past week however, we nearly doubled that total as 5 teams failed to score more 10 points or more. Yes that total is helped by the Los Guapos no-show, but this is an offensive-driven league, let’s see some points!!!!

Picks (My choice is in bold)

*As I mentioned last week, Yannick Doston and I are going head to head with are picks. Last week he went he went 8-0-1.

Smokin’ Axolotls vs #Baton  – Will the Smokin’Axolotls be able to build off of their impressive outing last week? Or will #Baton finally put it all together offensively?

Redmen vs The Fat and the Furious  – Can Double F finally stop the run?

Tigers vs no name© As I stated above, this should be a fantastic, game and it’s my pick for game of the week.

Falcons vs TDs and Beer -Tough one to call. Falcons come off of a tie, while TDB come off of a forfeit win. I’ll go with the team that got to play last week.

Looney Goons vs One Man Show – Dangerous Danny D’Amour will simply be too much for the Looney Goons to handle. If Justin Santillo can be consistent and build off his Week 3 performance, this game could be over quickly.

Smash Bros vs Los Guapos – The Smash Bros Offense might make Los Guapos wish they took this week off as well.

Royalty vs Flight of the Conchords –Look for Royalty to rebound after a tough outing last week.

Mile Public House vs Bloodmachines  – WAY too much firepower for the Bloodmachines. Who does MPH focus on, Patrice Lindor? Cesar Martinez? Felix-Antoine Lavigne? As Moe Khan would say, this one could be over by kickoff.

Big Blue Wrecking Crew vs JeanGuy – Why the Simon Laporte factor is always at play, BBWC is just too good to fall to JeanGuy.

Fuzzy-Kittens vs Been There Done That – The Sebastien Tardif-Phil Mercier combo has been a pleasant surprise so far. I think they continue to impress Tuesday night.

Last Week: 9-0-1

Season: 14-5-1
