D’s Nuts lay it all on the table in week 2.
Peeze’s Playbook Week.2
I understand that this article is being posted a little later than usual. Let us for a moment consider time. Einstein posited that time was relative. It’s entropic passage moves in one direction along an ethereal arrow. However, judging time as an understanding of future and past trough the lens of entropy is not entirely accurate as it itself decreases with time. This is to say time as a measurement and not necessarily the passing of time.
Now that I’ve thoroughly confused you all, here is my article; I’m sorry it’s late
The Bronx Raided by Hooligans
A week after Michael Sanchez led the Bronxbombers to a win over an experienced Show Me Your TDs, the Bombers took the field with James Nowakowski at quarterback. In his first game at the position, Nowakowski looked very solid to start. He threw 4 touchdowns and only one interception by the time he was done. Thomas Zorko scored twice and other touchdowns were scored by Alex Holowach and Cornelieus Fuerle. At the half, The Bronxbombers looked like they were ready coextend their lead but the Hooligans managed to tighten the defense in the second half.
While the Devan Gordon interception did help the Hooligans get back in the game it was definitely the defences ability to slow the Bronxbombers offence in the second half that allowed them to pull ahead and keep the lead until the end of the game. Chris Olson looked a lot more like the contender for quarterback of the year that he has been in the past as he used a short efficient passing game and his discipline paid off as they were able to win a close 26-24 contest. We often say that this game comes down to extra points. The Hooligans converted twice while the Bronxbombers were not able to convert on any of their touchdowns. Hence, it was truly the deciding factor in this game.
Did U Win Bro?
The Bromides struggled in week 1 as Yassin Chekir played his first game against an established Formerly Formerly Formerly Teamless week 1. Week 2 saw Bromigos start Jonathan Rene Thuot and he may be the answer at the quarterback position. Thuot, protected the ball and distributed the ball well. This was a good game for anyone named Fortier-Poulin as Nicolas, Jean-Francois and S.P. combined for 10 catches, 158 yards and 4 touchdowns. JF Fortier Poulin did earn some bragging rights as he joined Nicolas Godbout, Frederic Cote and Zohar Colman in intercepting he opposing quarterback. Overall this was an impressive outing for the Bromigos as they would win this one 32-22.
The Alpha T’s are a new team and their lack of experience is showing. Other than a safety in the second half, they were kept off the board almost entirely. Jean Lussier threw 4 interceptions in this game and this just seems to be a young quarterback who is learning the ropes in Division D. The Alpha T’s faced an experienced roster and the difference in FPF knowledge was apparent. On the other hand a worthy notice should be cast upon Francis Branchaud. He did catch 4 passes and a touchdown. However, it was his defense that was noteworthy in this game. He was all over the field and snagging flags and he logged 8 tackles in this game.
Power Rankings
The Parity in this division is driving me nuts. I had expected some teams to dominate off the bat and while some of those teams chalked one up in the L column after the first week of play, some bounced back with a vigorous effort in the following week. I think I have a handle on the top 10 teams in this division, or, I may be completely wrong. Shore your thoughts by tweeting me @PeezeFPF.
- Warhawks (2-0)- They’re scoring is indicative of a team that has played in a higher division. Warhawks my just be too much for anyone in this division to handle.
- D’s Nuts (2-0)-They have beaten who the league has put in front of them. Their immediate schedule looks manageable. However, trouble may be looming toward the end of the season. For now however, D’s Nuts may have been dealt the strongest hand.
- Gotham Knights (2-0)- They will need to start scoring more points but I think that will come as the season wears on. There defence is formidable and it will give them a chance in coming games.
- Formerly Formerly Formerly Teamless- Having beaten one of the top seeds in week 2 puts them on the radar. The development of Quasi Gordon Maule and Khalil Kerr makes the rest of us take notice. Another few wins will have us seriously considering this team a contenders.
- Tomahawk Nightmare (1-1)-A big win followed by a loss in a barn burner. Tommy Cauchear don’t have it easy as they play one of the toughest schedules in the division. I think they will win more slugfests than they lose.
- Les Affreux(1-1)-I’m still unsure of what to make of this team. Jo Lemieux exploded in week 2 after struggling to move the chains in week 1. I chalk the first week’s performance up to week one rust/jitters
- Tyrants (2-0)- I wanna believe so bad! There schedule only gets tougher but I think they are up for the challenge. Way to be boys! Sign Phil De Kovachich to a long term deal! Pay that man!!!
- Sticky Hands- 51 points is a whole bunch to score in week 1 and Alexis Labonté looked near perfect in week 1. They face Back Yard Bullies in week 2 and I hope that I can get a better beat on this team after that game.
- Jagerbomb (1-1)- They fell by quite a bit this week. However, I expected greatness from this team. As such, I expect them to go out and dominate every week. I don’t care about injuries; I don’t care about excuses. Go prove that you’re the team to beat Jagerbomb
- Hot Boys Hotline-They earned a win on their last drive. In week 2 they won an ugly 14-8 win. Jeremy Grauer has added another TD to his total and his size may give this team the edge they need on key downs and in the redone.
Other Teams Receiving Votes
I watched Lethal Weapon again this week. It reminded me that I was in fact too old for this shirt. So after a wardrobe change, I have cast my single, solitary votes for teams who did not quite make the cut!
- Globo Gym Purple Cobras (1-1)- I expect a lot from this team and I still haven’t seen it. Winning a game late and then winning a close one against a team that only scored 8 points (Crimson Tide) has me losing interest in this team quickly.
- Show Me Your TDs (1-1)- The defence has looked very good. However, Mike Addona is the lynchpin on this team. He has too much talent on this team to be throwing interceptions when receivers are running open.
- Sticky Hands (1-1)- Alexis Labonte looks to be the real deal. However, I need to see Sticky Hands win against the contenders in this division for me to take them seriously.
- Backyard Bullies- I’ve taken them out for a nice seafood dinner. However, I may only decide to call them back if they start to prove their worth.
Hung-over Visions of the World of Tomorrow
So Mat Domon thinks he would have a better record in one of the craziest weeks in FPF? He clearly doesn’t know that I’m equally crazy and I whipped his backside with a switch that I picked myself with a record of 7-5 I earned a lead in last week’s picks and in the season competition on the whole. He needs your help. Send your advice to @MathieuDomonFPF.

Monday’s Makeup Mockery
Oh FPF you are that insane ex-girlfriend we can never get enough of. We keep looking you up online when we know we shouldn’t. Every time we wan to call it quits we wake up in bed next you in a Hilton in Taiwan. The ceiling fan is spinning slowly above us and the sunlight is breaking through the wooden slat window coverings. That last bit may have come off extremely specific but I stand by it. Let me know what crazy ex FPF reminds you of by tweeting me @PeezeFPF.
For further analysis, tune in to the official FPF division D podcast Calling the Audible where GM Kolethras and I will discuss which the health benefits of artichokes, which colors are empirically superior and how to breakdown convoluted plans. If you watch for long enough we may discuss some flag football relevant topics!
You can watch us live Thursday nights at 8:30 at www.youtube.com/flagplus or download the show via iTunes or at http://fpf.podomatic.com. You can always tweet the show live by tweeting @EagleFPF or feel free to tweet GM @GMKole44 and let him know your vacation plans.
