Like it or Not (Div 3)

LIKE IT OR NOT (DIV3) WEEK 8-BY VINCE NARDONE

Huge win for The Commission against B.D.Bandits this week to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Finally our favorite part of the season is in arms’ reach. The final two weeks of the season are always the most electrifying games to take part in. Although more teams have now fallen short of a playoff spot, they can now enjoy spoiling others’ dreams. In this weeks’ article, I will go through every teams’ possible outcome and speculate whether or not I believe they have a chance to lock a seat into the playoffs.

At the end of the day you’re all going to make your chances better by winning (obviously). I’m not going to go into details on who you need to win or lose this week because it would take me 2 weeks for the amount of teams I have to cover. I’m only crunching numbers and giving you your possible outcomes. Next week I will trim the fat and go into more details. It will be a lot easier with one game left!

QB- Marco Masciotra (CLK): 17 Completions for 300 yards, and 8 touchdowns. The stats say more then enough. FREAK!!!!

WR- Jean Sebastien Gradowski (PWW): 6 receptions for 120 yards and 5 touchdowns. Are you kidding me? I taught him that back in midget! SUPER FREAKY

DB- Alex Gauthier (LBD): 3 interceptions and 1 pass defended. A hat trick on defense is always appreciated by yours truly! Way to turn on the FREAK mode.

R- Deemy Feelgood (#NR): 1 Tackle and 3 sacks. Welcome back Deemy!

11-3 AGAIN IN WEEK 8 BRINGS ME TO 64 and 32 SO FAR ON THE SEASON, WHICH PUTS ME AT 67%… I CAN SMELL THE 70 % MARK!

My Week 9 Game of the Week:

6th (Les Eudistes 5-3, 10 pts) VS 10th (Ocean’s Seven 3-4-1, 7 pts)

This is a divisional game that neither team can afford to lose, especially Ocean’s Seven who is dangling by a thread. Losing to Ocean’s Seven would give them an opportunity to enter the race for the playoffs, and furthermore giving them a chance to take them out the following week. If Les Eudistes beat Ocean’s Seven this week, it will most probably put an end to Sevens’ playoff dreams.

Key match-ups in this game:

  1. QB’s: Both, Danielle Gentile and Huge Enderson are pocket passers. They both have numerous talented targets to throw to and they both have confidence in themselves. These guys don’t make too many mistakes, but they tend to make them in the worst times possible. When comparing these two quarterbacks, the one thing that stands out is the difference in experience. While Enderson only has 3 seasons under his belt, Gentile has a whopping 15. Not enough is said in this league about experience and longevity (ask Wyeth how his first couple seasons as a QB went). If you know Gentile and you’ve watched him play for a while you know the following: 1) He plays to win 2) He doesn’t care who he’s up against 3) He runs a high-octane offense 4) If he throws 10 balls, 6 will be at the end zone 5) He can get frustrated very easily. On the other hand Enderson is: 1) Poised, 2) Very confident, 3) Also competes to win, 4) The lack of experience will lead him to make bad decisions. I give the edge to my boy Gentile.

  1. D VS D: Ocean’s Seven tends to neglect their defense because they just want to get back on offense. They’ve given up 255 points this year compared to Les Eudistes 192. Both defenses lack a solid rusher. Marc Andre Paradis has the bulk of the turnovers with 7 interceptions and it’s the same story on the other side. Gentile has 7 as well. I have to mention again the experience factor. Ocean’s Seven is a group of guys who have played together in upper divisions and have had success. Although years later they might have lost a step or two, you can’t underestimate this group of guys. Les Eudistes are a young group of athletes looking to find their identity. The key lies in Les Eudistes’ ability to rattle Gentile by turning the ball over. Slight edge goes to Les Eudistes.

  1. Stud VS Stud: I’ll pick two studs and hope both defenses line these guys up against each other for a serious show down. Louis-Christophe Lafontaine VS Nareg Yessayan, not to neglect the rest of the team because there are numerous unsung heroes on both squads. Lafontaine and Nareg are one in the same. Size meets freakish physical abilities, plus football IQ. Don’t run and compare stats because Lafontaine has missed a couple games this year so I’m hoping he’ll show up for this clash of the titans. I know Nareg hates to be talked about but he’s a freak that needs to be mentioned. Edge goes to Nareg for always coming up big when it matters.

My bold prediction because I know Scoop will now have to prove me wrong: Les Eudistes 42-38

While GM and Justin were on their bye week, we scrapped it out.

Daniele (118.07) vs Vince Nardone (151.03) : Vince Nardone

Dagenais (135.77) vs Terry Tam (166.53) : Terry Tam

Semi Final Match-ups :

4. Terry vs 1. Justin

3. Nardone vs 2. GM

It’s unfortunate the amount of absent players we’ve had this year. We’re going to have to find a way to avoid or overcome this issue in the future. Not a big deal for my team since we always pull through! It’s semis now boys, we have to raise it up another notch! I trust we will all respect curfew and stay hydrated!

The Sacko Bowl (week 10): Peeze Della Reeze VS Brent Callender
