5v5 Rec – The Top Receivers

There was only one game to cover this week due to 2 forfeits. Below this recap I will highlight some of the top receivers this season.

Game Recap: Blue Ballers Dominate Ambush with a 48-18 Victory

Blue Ballers overpowered Ambush with a decisive 48-18 win, showcasing an exceptional offensive performance led by quarterback AJ Gomes. The game was largely decided by the end of the first half, with Blue Ballers putting up 30 points to Ambush’s 12.

The game started off with  Blue Ballers making an immediate impact, as AJ Gomes connected on several deep passes that quickly put Ambush on the back foot. Gomes displayed great accuracy throughout the game, completing 16 of 21 passes for a remarkable 286 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Blue Ballers were unstoppable, with receivers Nicholas Gomes-Risso and Marvin Steinberg being go-to targets. Gomes-Risso recorded 93 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on 5 receptions, while Steinberg added 92 yards and 3 touchdowns on 6  receptions, constantly burning the Ambush secondary. Jimmy Marneris also contributed with 57 yards and 2 touchdowns on 3 catches

Defensively, Marvin Steinberg was a standout for the Blue Ballers. In addition to his offensive performance, he was a force on defence with 8 tackles, 1 interception, and 3 passes defended. His ability to cover Ambush’s receivers made a significant impact. Joey Notaro also chipped in with an interception, further frustrating the Ambush offense.

For Ambush, while the game didn’t go their way, there were some individual bright spots. Owen Bujarsky caught 4 passes for 58 yards and 1 touchdown, while Phillip Roberts contributed 42 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Key Performers:

  • AJ Gomes (Blue Ballers): The star quarterback was virtually unstoppable, throwing for 286 yards and 7 touchdowns with no interceptions. His leadership on the field helped Blue Ballers maintain control of the game from start to finish.
  • Marvin Steinberg (Blue Ballers): Steinberg had a monster game on both sides of the ball. With 3 touchdowns and 92 receiving yards on offense, plus 8 tackles, 1 interception, and 3 passes defended on defense, Steinberg was the clear all-around MVP of the game.
  • Nicholas Gomes-Risso (Blue Ballers): Gomes-Risso was another key target for AJ Gomes, contributing 93 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. His ability to get open and make big plays down the field helped set the tone early.

His impressive 15.4 yards per catch makes him a dangerous deep threat, while his 10 touchdowns make him the league’s top scorer among receivers. His reliable hands and chemistry with his quarterback have made him one of the most valuable assets for Bleue Dry 7.1 this season, putting him as a top contender for the Receiver of the Year award.

 Owen Bujarsky – Ambush

His ability to create separation and make explosive plays downfield has resulted in 8 touchdowns so far, keeping defenses on high alert whenever he’s on the field. Bujarsky’s combination of athleticism, and route-running makes him a serious contender for the Receiver of the Year award.

Richard’s ability to find the end zone and make big plays in crucial moments make him a valuable part of the Trailer Park Boys offense.

Andrew Di Miele – Drawing Dead

His 9.3 yards per catch shows that he excels at making shorter, high-percentage plays, making him a reliable target in possession situations. While his stats aren’t as explosive as others, his contributions to the Dragon Magique offense should not be overlooked.
