Week 4 Recap: 5v5 Rec

We are rapidly approaching the midway point of the season. While the 5v5 format is still relatively new to FPF, teams are starting to look sharper and sharper. Teams that struggled early on are starting to put up a fight and even upset some of the top teams.

Ambush 58 vs Drawing Dead 12

A rematch from just a week ago, Ambush and Drawing Dead once again took the field to faceoff. Similar to last week this game got out of hand quickly. Ambush took the lead early and it was pretty much over from there. On offence, Ambush spread the ball all around the field as every receiver caught a touchdown. Defensively Anthony Drysdale continues to shine as he came down with 3 interceptions. That puts him at 8 on the season, an impressive start to say the least. While Drawing Dead did lose another game by multiple touchdowns, this one felt a little different. Their offence had life to it like it hadn’t had all season. Andrew Di Miele had a fantastic game catching 6 balls for 115 yards and a touchdown. Drawing Dead were able to drive the ball this game but couldn’t capitalise once they got into enemy territory. Ambush improves to 3-0 and Drawing Dead falls to 0-4

Drawing Dead 20 vs Trailer Park Boys 28

Drawing Dead has yet another rematch as they played week one opponent Trailer Park Boys. In week one Trailer Park Boys came out on top with a 29 point victory but this game was a lot closer. Suiting up for Drawing Dead at quarterback was FPF great Jeff Rosenblatt. Drawing Dead put up a season high 20 points and allowed a season low 28 points. While they still are winless it is very clear they are improving on both sides of the ball. I wouldn’t be surprised if they upset someone in the coming weeks. For Trailer Park Boys, quarterback Antoine Meunier played a very clean game throwing for 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. On defence Meunier added a pick 6 that turned out to be huge in determining the outcome of this one. Trailer Park Boys improve to 2-1 and Drawing Dead falls to 0-5.

Five guys 19 vs Bleue Dry 7.1 38

Five Guys come into this one after falling short to Blue Ballers in a close contest. Having them as one of the top teams in the power rankings I did not see this one going this way. Bleue Dry 7.1 put on an impressive performance on both sides of the ball, Holding Jared Buck and Five Guys to only 19 points is no easy task. On offence Bleue Dry 7.1 may have discovered a dynamic duo. Quarterback Frederic Juneau and wide receiver Yvan Desjardins connected on all of their attempts for 3 touchdowns. Anytime you have a game that successful it builds immense chemistry. We will see how things progress as both of these teams have interesting matchups next week. Five Guys fall to 1-2 and Bleue Dry 7.1 improve to 2-1.
