Power Rankings Anyone?

With only one game played this week, I don’t have much to recap. So, let’s dive into a power ranking-style article for both Coed 1 and the women’s division!

Coed 1

1. Kiss My End Zone

2. Fitsquad

I have a clear understanding of this team after watching them play. Their ability to execute a strong offense and defense makes me believe, “Finals here we come.” They’ve assembled a roster filled with talent, and when everything clicks, they become unstoppable. Though they’ve only played three games, they’ve faced two out of four of their competitors. I anticipate their biggest challenge will come against Fitsquad. After that matchup, we’ll have a better idea of who holds the upper hand in this division.

4. Balls Deep

Benjamin Carli has been effectively utilizing his female players, who are truly stepping up their game. Their impressive catches and fearless play demonstrate their readiness to take risks on the field. The team’s variety of skills allows them to be quite versatile and dynamic in their play.

Women’s

1.Subzero

Surprising, right? I didn’t expect them to be at the top, especially since they come from a higher division and practice outside of the league. They’ve had ample time to refine their plays. However, they did lose their original quarterback for this fall season. Sara Parker is currently focusing on her university team, leaving another player to step into the quarterback role. While they may not have the exact playbook, the talent remains strong among the roster. Finding a quarterback who can read defenses effectively shouldn’t be a challenge, given their capable receivers.

5. Mercenaries

This youthful team is eager to demonstrate their potential. While they may be younger, they shouldn’t be underestimated; they possess talent across their sizable roster. With strong offensive players and defensive athletes who can read the field well, they have the capacity to make a significant impact on the game.

6. Wolfpack

Currently sitting in the middle of the pack, they’re performing admirably as the upper teams would normally be in a higher division. Their quarterback shows great skill in reading defenses and adjusting plays accordingly. Team chemistry is evident, which is expected since this isn’t their first season together.

9. Les Louves Du Nord

Starting a new team can be challenging. Hats off to them for giving their best on the field and I hope their early losses don’t discourage them. With time and practice, they have the potential to improve. While they may not yet be on par with other teams, I see glimpses of talent that can develop further.

In contrast to Kiss My End Zone, Fitsquad has maintained a stable roster with only minor changes. This continuity can be a significant advantage against teams that frequently switch up their lineups. They boast skilled players, from Frédéric Chevarie’s remarkable catches to Salim Tayae’s impressive sliding tackles. They bring a lot to the field and consistently give their all against every opponent.

3. Aigre-Doux

This team features an exciting combination of talent. With Tam Vilaydeth as the quarterback, their game dynamics can shift dramatically. His play-calling is beneficial for receivers, offering diversity in strategies, and he has the ability to run the ball when needed. The team also has athletes who excel beyond straight-line speed, featuring some “dip masters” who add flair and agility. I believe they are very close to Fitsquad and could overtake them depending on how they perform against other teams. Having lost to Kiss My End Zone twice, it will be interesting to see how they fare against Fitsquad in the near future.

5. Grosses Gougouttes

I ranked this team last not due to a lack of talent but because their quarterback is still finding their footing, especially compared to the experience of Balls Deep’s quarterback. They have great potential as a team but need to discover the right tactics to succeed in this highly competitive coed division. With athletes like Eve Charbonneau and Antoine Epstein on the roster, they possess the skills to make an impact and consistently perform well.

2. Vortex

They are the closest team in caliber to Subzero and might be the ones to take them down. With incredible talent distributed throughout their roster, both on offense and defense, and a remarkable quarterback leading the charge, they have what it takes to succeed. If they play strategically, they could pull off an impressive upset.

3. Red Nation

This returning team continues to improve. The comeback of Rachelle Vallieres has made a noticeable difference on the defensive side, and I’m sure she’s thrilled to be back on the field after a long absence. Red Nation consistently surprises us each season, and their narrow victory over BRUTES by one point shows they’re not here just for fun; they have real potential. I’m excited to see what else they have in store for the remainder of the season.

4. BRUTES

Their performance hasn’t gone as expected; currently sitting at 1-2, their recent loss to Red Nation by just one point raises questions. It’s unusual for a team in a typically higher division to be beaten by a lower-ranked team. Perhaps they had an off day or struggled with their strategy. Ultimately, it came down to converting opportunities, and they fell short. Nonetheless, I believe they can turn it around and secure wins in their upcoming games to improve their standing.

7. Crocs

Despite their current standing, I believe they can become formidable once they find their rhythm. They have the talent; they just need to refine their strategy. As this is their first season in a different league, there’s always an adjustment period. I’m optimistic they can elevate their game as the season progresses.

8. Ghosted

Another team with considerable talent, Ghosted boasts height, which is advantageous for any quarterback. They have a diverse skill set, including a talented quarterback with experience. She remains calm under pressure and effectively communicates her plays, earning her receivers’ trust. A confident QB can set a positive tone for the entire team.
