FPF Playoffs Heat Up: Upsets Galore and Showdowns on Tap

The FPF playoffs have been nothing short of electrifying! Upsets have shaken the very foundation of the league, with lower-seeded teams defying the odds and sending higher-ranked squads packing. From the #8 seed Party Crashers’ stunning victory over the #1 seed Flag Moi L’Sac to the #7 seed KGP’s impressive win against the #2 seed Jamesons, the playoffs have delivered moments that will be etched in FPF history. This weekend’s Semifinals promise even more drama as the remaining contenders battle it out for a chance to be crowned champions. Buckle up, FPF fans, because we’re in for a wild ride!

Royaume Luminaire Wins Tight Division 1 Quarterfinal Match Against Braves 36-35 in Overtime

In a thrilling overtime finish, Royaume Luminaire edged out the 8-2 Braves 36-35. The game was a back-and-forth affair with both teams trading touchdowns throughout. I was lucky enough to watch the second half of this game and boy was it a thriller.  Royaume Luminaire’s Aj Gomes takes home player of the game honours in my opinion. It could have very well been Nick Groppini with his 2 Td performance but I felt like Aj was more impactful on both sides of the ball. Aj Gomes was instrumental in Royaume Luminaire’s victory. Not only did he haul in a touchdown reception, but he also snagged the game’s only interception, proving his value on both sides of the ball. He also caught a 2 point conversion in overtime! Looks like Aj is back and just in time for a Div 1 playoff run. The first half saw both teams exchange touchdowns.  Royaume Luminaire struck first with a touchdown pass to Paul Lapierre, while the Braves countered with a scoring reception by Will Trottier, Div 1’s WROY. The two teams would trade touchdowns once more before the half ended, with Nick Groppini finding the endzone for Royaume Luminaire. The second half continued the trend of tit-for-tat scoring. The Braves took the lead with another touchdown reception by Will Trottier, but Royaume Luminaire answered with a touchdown pass to Aj Gomes. The Braves would regain the lead with a second touchdown pass to Alex Pilon, but they would be unable to convert the extra point. The game went into overtime tied at 35-35. Royaume Luminaire took the first offensive snap in OT and were able to score a two-point conversion attempt giving them the lead. The Braves were then forced to go for a two-point attempt two times and were only able to convert the one tying the game. Royaume Luminaire then had their final 2 convert attempts and were able to get 1 point  giving them the lead once again. The Braves and Joe Maheu the decided to go for 2 to win the game and was SACKED by Ethan Adrian who had a rather quiet game. A straight stunner of a finish as the building was electric! A great game played between two great teams.

Upset Alert! Party Crashers Spoil Flag Moi L’Sac’s Perfect Season with a 43-34 Victory

In a stunning turn of events, the #8 seed Party Crashers (3-6-1) defeated the heavily favoured #1 seed Flag Moi L’Sac (9-1) by a score of 43-34 in the Div 1 Quarterfinals. This victory goes down as one of the biggest upsets of the FPF season.

Party Crashers’ QB Fred Dupuis Leads the Charge: Quarterback Fred Dupuis was instrumental in the Party Crashers’ victory, throwing for seven touchdowns and completing passes to six different receivers. His accuracy was the most impressive as he delivered key throws throughout the game and did so without throwing an interception all game. This certainly gave them the push and confidence they needed to take down this Div 1 juggernaught. The Party Crashers got off to a strong start, with Dupuis connecting with Cléroux for a touchdown pass early in the first half. They continued to move the ball effectively, adding two more touchdowns before halftime. Flag Moi L’Sac managed to score two touchdowns of their own, but trailed 25-20 going into the break. The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading scores. Party Crashers extended their lead with another touchdown reception by Cléroux, but Flag Moi L’Sac clawed their way back into the game with two scores of their own. Despite a late surge by Flag Moi L’Sac, the Party Crashers were able to secure the victory as their defence came up big and intercepted a pass from Alex Nadeau-Piuze who only threw 2 all season long. This win propels Party Crashers into the Division 1 Semifinals, while Flag Moi L’Sac’s season comes to a disappointing end. Unfortunate that we didn’t get to see more form these winter warriors as they got eliminated in the first round. But thats football, ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, or in this case Tuesday. Party Crashers showed up to play and they came and took this win, nothing was given. For a team that only won 3 games this season, I’m impressed to say the least. 

KGP Upsets Jamesons 32-27 Quarterfinal

In a thrilling upset, the #7 seed KGP pulled off a stunning 32-27 victory over the #2 seed Jamesons in the Division 1 Quarterfinals. KGP’s quarterback, Phil Cutler, orchestrated the win with a flawless performance, throwing for 5 touchdowns and 207 yards. However, the real star of the night was KGP’s wide receiver, Jonathan Garfinkle, who was practically unstoppable, catching 7 passes for 120 yards and a staggering 4 touchdowns. Cutler connects with Garfinkle early and often. KGP wasted no time getting on the board, with Cutler finding Garfinkle for a touchdown pass early in the first half. The Jamesons responded with a touchdown of their own, but KGP answered right back with another scoring strike to Garfinkle. The two teams would continue to trade blows throughout the half, with the Jamesons adding another touchdown before halftime to tie things up 14-14. With both teams exchanging touchdowns. Cutler continued to target Garfinkle, who hauled in two more touchdown receptions in the second half.The Jamesons down 32-21 gave it everything they had and were able to score with 5 plays remaining on a long touchdown pass to James Tyrrell. The Jamesons’ opted for the onside kick attempt but were unsuccessful. Jamesons QB Jeff Rosenblatt played okay but you need to play more then okay in the playoffs. 18 for 25 175 yards, 3 touchdowns and one crucial INT. This game comes down to turnovers and Jeff had the one. I’m sure they’ll come back strong this summer. 

Semi Final Preview 

Royaume Luminaire vs. KGP

A clash of titans is set for the FPF Division 1 Semifinals as the red-hot KGP (4-6-) takes on the dominant Royaume Luminaire (5-4-1). Royaume Luminaire, boasting one of the league’s best offense, will look to overpower KGP with their explosive passing attack. KGP, on the other hand, will rely on their opportunistic defense and a red-hot receiving trio to pull off another upset. Royaume Luminaire’s offense needs another big performance from AJ Gomes. Last week, Royaume Luminaire’s victory hinged on the heroics of wide receiver/ DB AJ Gomes. Not only did he haul in a touchdown reception, but he also snagged a game-sealing interception. With KGP boasting a secondary that thrives on takeaways, Gomes will need to be at his best on both sides of the ball. Minimizing turnovers will be key for Quarterback Jesse Dupuis. While Gomes will be a focal point, the key to Royaume Luminaire’s success lies in the hands of quarterback Jesse Dupuis. KGP’s defense has a knack for creating turnovers, and Dupuis will need to avoid costly interceptions if his team wants to advance. KGP’s offense, spearheaded by quarterback Phil Cutler, has been on fire in the playoffs. Cutler will look to exploit potential matchups against Royaume Luminaire’s secondary with his top targets: the virtually unstoppable Jonathan Garfinkle, the run after catch specialist Quasie Gordon-Maule. If this trio can replicate their performances from the quarterfinals, KGP will be a serious threat. Can Royaume Luminaire protect the ball and overpower KGP with their passing attack? Or will KGP’s defense generate enough turnovers to propel them to another upset victory? I think KGP will make it tough for Royaume luminaire but my dogs will come out with the win 42-38. 

Allstars Vs Party Crashers 

FPF Division 1 Semifinal Preview: Allstars Aim to Ground Party Crashers’ Cinderella Run

The improbable run of the #8 seed Party Crashers (3-6-1) continues as they face the #1 seed Allstars (8-2) in the Division 1 Semifinals. After a shocking upset victory over the #1 seed Flag Moi L’Sac, the question remains: can they defy the odds once more? The Allstars boast a stifling defense, anchored by the league’s leading tackler, Pat Jerome. Their last meeting saw them edge out the Party Crashers 38-31, and they’ll be looking to replicate that defensive dominance. Shutting down the Party Crashers’ passing attack, led by quarterback Phil Cutler, will be their primary objective. For the Party Crashers to pull off another upset, Phil Cutler will need to be nearly flawless. Against the Allstars’ relentless defense, any interceptions or turnover on downs could prove costly. Additionally, converting every scoring opportunity – including extra points – will be crucial. Another question is: can Jonathan Garfinkle continue his tear? Wide receiver Jonathan Garfinkle has been a revelation for the Party Crashers, amassing 6 touchdowns in both playoff games. He’ll be Cutler’s primary target, and his ability to get open against the Allstars’ secondary will be a key factor. This matchup presents a classic contrast: momentum versus experience. The Party Crashers are riding high on confidence after their upset victory, while the Allstars rely on their veteran core and regular-season dominance. The Allstars are the clear favorites, but the Party Crashers have proven they can’t be underestimated. I can’t wait to watch this one unfold. I predict the Allstars to crush party crashers spirit and take the win convincingly, Give me Allstars 40-23.
