Super Bowl Sunday makes for Short Articles

We are back for a very special weekend! SUPER BOWL WEEKEND! It comes once a year and for some of us, it’s better than christmas! For those of you who may not know, I’m an Eagles fan and was incredibly let down by the end of our season, but can swallow my pride and wish luck on any other team deserving of a Super Bowl Spot (spoiler…. none are). That being said, I’m also a fan of Andy Reid, and if the Eagles aren’t going to win – well I’ll root for Andy! So Let’s go CHIEFS!

Jokes aside, regardless of the winner, I just hope that it’s a good game that leaves everyone happy. Because when the Super Bowl is over – FPF will be here to continue to break hearts! This week was an exciting week that gave us a number of ties and a few upsets! So grab your chicken wings, nachos, and pizza, and read up on Div 5A/5B while you wait for Kick Off!:

.

FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH:

  • 5A: We are off to the races! LES PETITES CAROTTES beat out my vote for underdog team: RICO RYDERS. IN N’ OUT were able to hold onto their undefeated status by tying against me and my SUPER TROOPERS. IN N’ OUT have a bye week while LPC have to face off against A-SQUAD.
  • 5B: 25% of the teams are still undefeated going into week 6! What the heck is going on!? WIN DIESEL, PACK A PUNCH, and TUNESQUAD are all 4-0 right now. Who will be the first to lose? PACK A PUNCH takes on LES TONDEUSES next week and TUNESQUAD faces off against RAMPHINS! If both of these teams can win their games, we will have a clash of titans in Week 8!
  • Random Thought – The top 3 teams of both 5A and 5B have been able to put up over 100 points so far this season, with WIN DIESEL having the biggest +- spread of 117 points! Although Win DIESEL looks to be a guaranteed Finalist, there isn’t as clear of a picture for me in 5A. LES PETITES CAROTTES have come up big recently, but with every team having a loss (or close to one), I think it can still be anyone’s game!
  • 5A: WOW! I finally got to see the OT rule in practice! SUPER TROOPERS faced IN N’ OUT in a crazy game where we saw an injured Kenny Boutilier suit up in Timberland Boots, in an attempt to stop me from throwing a bajillion INTs. Hugo Stensland came up big as our reliably handed, big bodied snapper, who got us 1st downs. Nicolas Katerelos was able to keep his head in the game, however, and while putting up 200 yards, kept his team in the game with 3 TDs. Samuel Deland pulled double time as Rusher and #1 receiver, picking up a TD and 3 sacks against Kenny. All in all, IN N’ OUT was a great team to face and should be fun to see again in the playoffs! Another tie means IN N’ OUT are still technically undefeated.
  • 5B: We have a new rule in FPF that should be helping to prevent ties, yet somehow we have 2 ties this week and both of them involve MACCABEES! Scoring and keeping CHEZ BENNY EXPRESS to 2 TDs and then doing the same thing for 25 points against LES SACRIFIES 2 the next day! I’m always a fan of getting ties if necessary – because it means you didn’t actually lose – but accumulating too many ties, instead of what they should be…. WINS, is a surefire way to find yourself in a pickle later on in the season. Despite all this bad news about ties, MACCABEES are still undefeated and have a few weeks off before having to face RETIRED ALL-STARS in March. How will 4 weeks off affect their performance?
  • NIGHTHAWKS got a nice win over THUNDER BUDDIES last week. Having lost only their first game, NIGHTHAWKS have not looked back! They have PASTA ARRABIAT coming up and then it might be off to the races, as the rest of their schedule looks manageable. Bumping THUNDER BUDDIES to #9, will they be able to overtake PASTA and jump into the top 5 going into the end of the season? Something tells me the top of Div 5A will get a shake up over the next 2-3 weeks!
  • WILD WEST WRANGLERS and VENGEANCE both have a chance at a win this week! With VENGEANCE having already played 5 games, they will need a big shift in their season if they want to get out of the elimination zone. WWW came up short by 1 point last week against BETWAY BANDITS to find themselves in the Elimination Zone this week. Luckily, they only have 3 games played, and have a chance to turn things around if they can get much needed wins against VENGEANCE, BREWERS, and GREEN MONSTER. Either way, the # Winless is slowly diminishing. Will SKEEYEE and VULTURES find the same success in Div 5A?
