Before we get into the playoffs, let’s take a look at the action that took place in Week 10.
Here we go.
Draft Division
Dagwoods 25 – Paramount 12
Paramount was given a gift here with a sidelined Rob Allen, they had a chance to deliver Dagwoods their first loss of the season. Sadly, instead of opening that gift and enjoying it, they sh*t the bed and gave it back to the rich kid who didn’t need it. Paramount probably had their best defensive game of the year with 3 INT’s from Rosen/Young/Ellis, but offensively they did nothing. Stalled red zone drives, punting, nothing went Paramount’s way. Full credit to the Dagwoods defence who took everything away and made life hard for Jon Moodie and company. Even with a 12-6 Paramount halftime lead, big 2 way games from both Chris Rosen (3 catches, 50 yards, 1 TD and 4 tackles, 1 INT, 1 PD) and Tom Young (3 catches, 18 yards, 1 TD and 3 tackles, 1 INT, 1 PD), they couldn’t slow Dagwoods down. Cory Johnson and Enzo Bellini each have big games on offence with 6 catches each. Defensively Dagwoods fills out a full scoresheet with 7 players with tackles, 2 sacks from Enzo and INT’s from Joel Watson and Mario Choueri. A very good statement game by Dagwoods who find a way to win without their top player and prove they aren’t a one trick pony.
Polvige 43 – Aptech 21
It was pretty simple from Polvige QB’s Eugene Mclaren’s point of view, if they lost, he was out of town for the Quarterfinals and would have missed the game so he wasn’t losing and he didn’t. Eugene takes off on the ground with the best 35+ Rushing performance of the year, 4 attempts, 86 yards and 3 rushing TD’s. A decent game offensively for Aptech as QB Gautama spreads the ball around with 5 different receivers picking up 3 catches or more and TD’s by Lavoie(2) and Tosi(1). Aptech Captain Brian Zenobi did what he could with 3 tackles, but unfortunately they had too many dropped balls and a strong Polvige defence to contend with to compete in a shootout with Polvige this day. Eugene didn’t only get the job down on the ground as he passed for 3 TD’s as well to Vince Mancini, Steve Clark and Harvey Schafer. While the offence was on display here, the Polvige defence has a solid day as unsung defensive stalwarts Daryl Edwards(4 tkls), Kim Reid (3) and Jesse Roberts (3) all have solid games.
Teams Division
The Leons 35 – Monster Football 26
The Leons enter this game with a lot on the line as a win clinched first place overall and they had chance to avenge their only loss of the season. The Leons get the job done and clinch the regular season championship with the win. Monster doesn’t make it easy on them however and come out with a solid offensive game spreading the ball to 5 different receivers, but the story of the day was Rochdi Benabdelkader, who steps in at QB for an absent Cory Pepper and has a great game, finding the end zone 5 times to 4 different receivers. Sadly, both teams have players playing without numbers so the stats are a little askew. (For the love of god, spend $5 and put a number on a shirt!). Defensively both teams have full scoresheets with 6 players earning stats. This game was all about balance and that’s what makes the potential semi-final rematch an interesting one. Both teams spread the ball on offence and everyone contributes on defence and combine that with a season series split where games were won by 8 and 9 points, a future showdown will be a must watch.
35ers 38 – Old Goats 18
Old Goats with only a 6 man roster, unfortunately finish the season without a win but there were sparks that can hopefully turn into a flame for them in the playoffs. Jason Rossie scores early on a nice 23 yard run but they have trouble containing the 35ers offence and find themselves behind 25-6 at half. The sparks start to fly them in the 2nd half where they match 35ers, 2 TD’s to 2. Rossie connects with Scott Binns for 8 catches and finds Elias Patsios on a few nice deep out routes for 3 catches. Putting up 18 points on the top rated defence is a decent outing and they need to improve on this performance quickly to stay alive in the playoffs. 35ers come out strong on offence as QB Carmine finds the end zone 6 times with only a pre-half deep INT on his record. Andrew Carruthers has a big game offensively picking up 7 catches, 149 yards and 2 TD’s. Defensively Carmine is the 2-way player of the game as to go with a strong QB Performance, he picks up 4 Tackles, 1 INT and 2 PD’s. 35ers now have a bye week and await a semi-final matchup against the OldPack.

Quarter Finals Preview
Now we enter the Promised land, where only 2 teams will be able to win it all. Every team has a chance now to hoist the championship trophy, the question is who will rise and who will fall, let’s take a deeper look at the upcoming Quarter Final Match-ups.
Old Goats @ Monster Football Preview
The most recent match up didn’t go well for Old Goats, hopefully it was a case of then playing the sleeper and they come out swinging in this one. For the Old Goats to win, Offensively Jason Rossie will need to use his legs and be selfish about it. He’s facing a premier rusher in Dan Hilton, but he’s also a premier runner and needs to use that to his advantage. Running the ball kills the clock, keeps the ball out of Andy Peterkin’s hands and doesn’t risk any turnovers. They haven’t established any type of deep ball game this year so focus on the short completions mixed with runs and they can manage the game and keep it close. Old Goats Receivers must bring their A game and catch everything, the majority of the balls are catchable and they need a couple receivers to step up and have big games. For Monster Football, if Dan Hilton keeps Rossie in the backfield, their defence should be able to handle the Old Goats receivers. Offensively, they are an elite team, as long as no one has a case of vasoline hands, they should be able to put up points. Clearly based Stats, Monster is the favorite, but it’s time for Old Goats to step up and play like the UMBC Retrievers and upset the favorite.
Relics @ Aptech Preview
Aptech has sweep the season series between these 2 teams, but the last game was a close one with Aptech winning 28-24. For Relics, their defence is solid and with leading division tackler Joel Shahrabari they won’t make it easy on Aptech to score. In order to pick up the win, they must find a way to move the ball offensively. In the last game, David Souaid had his best game of the year going 14 for 19, with no picks. He must find a way to not only repeat that performance but improve on it. Ryan Etinson will be a reliable source for catches out of the center position, but must open up the deep ball to Cameron Nelson and Rob Bohbot as well. Aptech knows a 4th place finish isn’t reflective of the talent they have and need to display it during this game. As they usually rotate rushers, they need to lock speedster Derrick Lavoie in the rusher role and have him force David Souaid to throw off his back foot and let Safety Domenic Tosi pick off any deep balls. Offensively QB Gautama is in top 10 Completion Percentage of all time in FPF which is an impressive feat and that’s what he needs to deliver in the Quarter finals. He is methodical moving the ball shortly and evenly to all receivers. Relics proved they can play with Aptech in their previous matchup so now it’s time for them to prove they can rise up or Aptech will be the ones moving onto the semi finals.
Reminder to Captains that only players who have 4 games played are eligible to play in the playoffs.
Good Luck to everyone playing in the Quarter Finals, make sure you bring your A+ game!
See you on the field.
