35+ FPF: Mid-Season Through Season’s End with a Playoff Outlook

The doldrums of the end of March and winter are here, but March Madness, a potential Habs Playoff run and of course, 35+ playoffs are just around the corner, so we are blessed with tons of sports action to keep busy until we can escape our homes and focus on spring activities, like Patio Drinks.

Let’s dive right into how the 2nd half of the season has gone and see what the playoff outlook is.

Reminder to all players and captains, you must have 5 games played or registered as injured to be eligible for playoffs.

35+ Legends

With 1 or 2 games remaining for each team (2 of them tonight), the final standings are locked in already.  The final standings are:

  1. Snowmelting.ca
  2. Pacemakers
  3. TC-OLD
  4. Creaky Joints

Congrats to Snowmelting.ca on taking the regular season championship. While they have run away with the division, they are neither the top scoring team, nor the top defense so that should make for some interesting playoffs matchups. There are still 3 games remaining till this Wednesday and the schedule is unbalanced so this story can change.

The 2025 35+ Legends playoffs we will have:

Semi-Finals

(4) Creaky Joints vs (1) Snowmelting.ca

While Creaky Joints may not have lit the division on fire in terms of wins this year, roster instability has been their challenge with 21 players on the roster. The good news is that they have a solid 7 players that should be playoff eligible, who all have lots of playoff and championship experience in FPF.

(3) TC-OLD vs (2) Pacemakers

This should be the barnburner, that a 2/3 matchup always should be. They’ve only faced each other once so far this season (a 7point win for Pacemakers), with another matchup tonight. TC-OLD scores a lot and Pacemakers hold the division best Defense at this point of the season. Once this game’s time and location is posted, mark it on your calendar as must-see TV.

While Snowmelting.ca are the favorites going into the 2025 Playoffs, this is really anyone’s division this year, of the 17 games played this season only 2 were decided by more than 14 points. 15 games of 14 points or less and more telling, 10 of the 17 games were decided by 7 points or less. There will be a couple of weeks of byes between the semi-finals and championship weekend so everyone should be very healthy come finals.

35 + Draft

With only 1 game remaining this Monday night, the 2025 35+ Draft final standings are:

  1. Broady Windsor
  2. Paramount
  3. Aptech
  4. FPF
  5. JMJ

Congrats to Broady Windsor on taking home the 2025 35+ Draft Regular season championship. GM Kolethras wins GM of the year for picking 2 elite regular season championship squads in for Legends and Draft Divisions. With matching initials, GM GM, was it ever in doubt? Such a terrible joke.

The 2025 35+ Draft playoffs we will have:

Quarter Finals

(5) JMJ vs (4) FPF

Monday night, we have 1 playoff game taking place opposite the final regular season game. These teams split their regular season series with JMJ winning by 1 pt and FPF taking the re-match by 7 points. The battle of the 3 letter teams will be a tight one for sure. Since I play for JMJ, obviously the hot pick is JMJ to take down FPF.

Semi Finals

(4/5) TBD vs (1) Broady Windsor

Broady Windsor awaits the winner of JMJ vs FPF, can either one take down the king or will they bend the knee? We shall find out on April 14th

(3) Aptech vs (2) Paramount

A battle of FPF legendary QB Stalwarts, with Craig Owy O’Brien taking on Ryan Kastner. Both teams are going to score often, the defensive stops will be the determining factor here. Paramount had Aptech’s number throughout the season but never count out Owy when it matters most! He had the upset of the season in last year’s playoff so time to see if he can do it again.

This season BW and Paramount have owned the other teams, BW is the favorite, but Paramount is right behind them.  Last year as mentioned, there was a huge upset, will the other teams be able to recreate this in 2025? The only way to find out is to play the games.

Good Luck to all in the playoffs, Legends play their finals alongside the rest of FPF while Draft will be playing both the semifinals and finals on the same night, April 14th, some of the more senior guys will be taking the next day off, I’m sure.

See you on the field
