Week 9 Recap:
Brewers def Chomedey Chodes 41-32
With this win,Brewershave guaranteed themselves a playoff berth after a great showing fromQB Peeze Della Roccawith his 5 TD performance without any turnovers. Having veteranJustin Blanchardplaying this game had him lead the way with 100yds and 2 TDs on offence. ForChomedey Chodes, it was a tough throwing game forQB Matthew Bottazzibut he was able to keep the game close in the 2nd half by finishing with 147yds and 3 TDs on the ground. Mathematically,Chomedey Chodeshave clinched a playoff berth as their tie againstBible Studyhas helped them in that regard but they will attempt to gain momentum in their finale againstSour Puss.
Briscoe Hawks def Sans Pression 48-12
Briscoe Hawkstook care of business early as they led 35-6 at the break.Alex O’Neillcontinues to prove that he is the most efficient QB in the division after a 19/19 performance and 7 TD passes.Zachary MastromonacoandBrandon Kerrlead the offence with a combined 181yds and 5 TDs. ForSans Pression, they aren’t eliminated from contentions just yet but the odds aren’t in their favour. They would need to defeat the 5-3Ball Hawksand get a bunch of help from teams ahead of them. It isn’t impossible but a lot of help and luck would need to go their way.
TuneSquad def Vice City 32-25
This game was pivotal as with the loss,Vice Cityis in danger of missing the playoffs as they are competing for the final spot and the teams above them have games in hand.TuneSquadwould pull away in the 2nd half after a efficient game fromQBGarnerRosswith 5 TDs, 3 of them caught byKendal Mayersand the other 2 byJesse Dym.QB Dylan Boudreaudid his best to keep it close but two 2nd half interceptions thrown would giveTuneSquadthe game late in the 2nd half.TuneSquadwon’t likely get a bye but are going to finish in the 10-15 seed and forVice City, they would need to win both games againstRum & CokeandSophomore XL Exchange Studentsin two tough matchups to guarantee a playoff berth.
Studz def Monstars 52-18
Studztook care of an undermannedMonstarsteam who were missing nearly their full roster includingQB Charles Presser. Credit toStudzas they played the team in front of them and took care of business after an 8 TD performance fromQB Philip Gélinason one incompletion.Antoine Clémentwould lead the team with 121yds and 3 TDs followed by 90yds and 2 TDs by teammateJustin Beauséjour.QB Coby Whitefinished with 3 TDs and 181yds forMonstarsbut they were not matched without the majority of their team. Both teams might have the chance to play against one another in the playoffs, asStudzhave locked their 1st round bye andMonstarswould need to win two of their last three games to 100% clinch their berth against three teams who are under them in the standings.
Glogang def Briscoe Hawks 20-6
A matchup between two top 10 teams would result inGlogangshutting downBriscoe Hawksand winning a defensive game. Each QB would throw an INT butNeil Loisel’s3 TD game would get the better ofAlex O’Neillin this one.Briscoe Hawkswould struggle moving the ball down the field as they had 7 third down opportunities but had a 43% success rate and would go ⅓ on 4th down. With the loss,Briscoe Hawks’chances of obtaining the bye are lower but aren’t out of the question. They would need to win their two remaining games and a loss from one of the top 8 teams would get them the bye. ForGlogang, as long as a team in the 5-10 seed range loses one game, they clinch their bye.
Uncle Rico’s Ryders def FC Bing 44-12
A 32-0 shutout by halftime cleared any chances for a 2nd half collapse and secured a victory forUncle Rico’s Ryders.QB Mathew Yanakouliaswould finish with 7 TDs and the defence would have 5 INTs, shutting downFC Bingin all capacities. ForFC Bing, it was a tough outing withoutQB Marc-André Senécaland other key players as both the offence and defence were out of sorts.FC Bingaren’t eliminated from playoff contention but they would need to win against bothTexas WhalesandDragon Magiqueand get a lot of help from teams above them. ForUncle Rico’s Ryders, a win againstTexas WhalesorFirst Down Snifflerswould clinch the first round bye.
Bend Don’t Break def The Peckers 24-18
Two early 2nd half TDs byDominic Weidnerwould be the difference maker towards the victory forBend Don’t Break.QB Luke Moreauwould throw 3 TDs in the win, with all three coming fromWeidner.Owen Bruemmerwould get a pick-6 early in the game, stamping on a great defensive performance. ForThe Peckers, not one of the better games fromQB Noah Liebleinbut he was also missing several offensive weapons in this game. ForThe Peckers, they would clinch a bye if they can win against bothRichterandUncle Rico’s Ryderswith both games being playoff caliber matchups. ForBend Don’t Break, they most likely won’t get a bye even if they win their final game but would go into the playoffs as one of the more experienced teams with previous championship experience attempting to add to their collection.
Sour Puss def Bible Study 39-27
The secondSour pusstook control of the game, they didn’t allow a comeback fromBible Studyin the biggest game of the week for playoff implications.QB Franco Russowould finish 17/20 for 242yds and 6 TDs.Felix-Antoine Masseaucontinues to be an underrated player in the division as he would finish with 4 TDs. ForBible Study,QB Evan Vavinisplayed a solid game in his own right with 189yds and 4 TDs but it wasn’t enough to matchRusso’soutput. A much-win game for both teams andSour pussaren’t eliminated from contention just yet. The odds are stacked against them but they would need to win their final game againstChomedey Chodesand haveNot Fast Just Furious,First Down SnifflersandBible Studyto lose all their games. Speaking ofBible Study, they would need to defeat the undefeatedNut N’ Runto control their own fate and that still might not be enough but can also sneak into the playoffs withNot Fast Just FuriousandFirst Down Snifflerslosing out their remaining games.
Airs University vs NoFlagsGiven
The game isn’t updated on the site but given history, this would be a 60-0 forfeit victory forNoFlagsGivenwho are trying to climb their way towards gaining momentum towards the playoffs. ForAirs University, the win wouldn’t change anything as they are already eliminated from playoff contention.
Monstars def Dog Walkers 39-18
QB Charles Presserwas not behind center this game either butMonstarswould take care of business againstDog Walkersafter an incredible debut of first time FPFQB Ethan Levitt who would finish with 179yds and 5 TDs.Tony Khourywould be the center safety blanket as he would finish with 3 receiving TDs.Monstars’defence was in control of this one as they generated 3 INTs, including a pick-6 fromBen Arnovitz. ForDog Walkers, they are still searching for their first win as they are the lone winless team in the division but have two games remaining. ForMonstars, by winning this game, they aren’t 100% in the playoffs but winning one of their final two games would secure their spot or would need a bunch of the teams below them to win out to cause some timebreaker issues.
Texas Whales def Super Troopers 36-19
Super Troopersweren’t able to generate much offence in the 2nd half andQB Tyler Cousinswould have a 233yds and 6 TD performance in the victory forTexas Whales.QB Kenny Boutilierwould finish with 2 passing TDs and one rushing TD but weren’t able to match the offensive power ofTexas Whales. TheTexas Whalesdefence would get 2 INTs and pull away in the 2nd half. With the loss,Super Troopersare at risk of missing the playoffs but they will need to 100% win their final game againstMonstarsand get help from the teams below them. ForTexas Whales, easily their most successful season to-date and victories againstTeam Ethnikand the 1-7FC Bingwould seemingly clinch a 1st round bye.
Nut N’ Run def Voodoo 40-43
Nut N’ Runwould officially endVoodoo’splayoff hopes in this high scoring game Sunday night.QB Nicolas Katereloswould finish with 244yds and 7 TDs, showing whyNut N’ Runshould enter the playoffs as the early favorites. ForVoodoo, their offence was matchingNut N’ Runwith veteranQB Frank Kayewould finish with 336yds in his own right and also matchingKatereloswith 7 TDs. The difference maker in this game was the 4 two point conversion fromNut N’ Runcompared to a single 1pt convert fromVoodoo. As mentioned earlier,Voodooare eliminated from playoffs but can cause suspense if they can defeatMonstarsin their season finale. ForNut’ N Run, the number 1 seed is in their control and can complete the 10-0 season with victories againstBible StudyandBriscoe Hawks.
Texas Whales def Team Ethnik 49-40
The highest scoring game of the week between two playoff teams would result in a 2ndTexas Whalesvictory this week.QB Benoit Lawlorwould throw for 311yds and 6 TDs in the loss but 3 INTs, including a pick-6 toDante Talaricowould be a key mistake in the 2nd half. ForTexas Whales,Elio Carigliawould score 4 TDs in the game pulling his team towards the victory. ForTeam Ethnik, they have already clinched their playoff berth but are playing for seeding as they can’t obtain the first round bye. ForTexas Whales, they can clinch the bye with a win overFC Bingin their final game or getting help with teams under them losing out.
